I reckon they are pretty good for someone who doesn't weld/fabricate for a living. It's nice to be able to do things when you need them done and not have to rely on others to do it for you. Panel beater knows what he's talking about unfortunately. Up to you if you just want to 'patch' fix all the problem areas and just paint over and hope that it lasts a few years before rust or bodgy repairs start to come through again or do a full resto on it. At the end of the day it just comes down to how much money/time you want to spend on fixing it.

You can etch prime the parts that are to be powdercoated. Infact I recommend you do it on parts that are under the car like crossmembers and suspension parts so that if the powdercoat chips off due to a stone or whatever, you have that last line of defense of primer there. Just ask your powdercoater which brand they prefer so that it can handle the temperature in the oven and stop it bubbling. Most will probably be able to prime them for you before they powder anyway.

That's a real shame as she did look in very good original condition. It would be a sobering thought to think that even if the idiots who stole it were caught that they would get a nice little slap on the wrist and a sob story about how they have a tough life so should be let go with a warning. But if you drive your car 5 kays over the limit, you are labelled a criminal and risk having your car taken off you for being so reckless. Anyways enough ranting. I think a lot of the manufacturers in the 80's were guilty of 'pimping' it up with those interiors. Even the holden interiors from the SLE/Calais was getting up there, albeit a bit more restrained with the plushness of the velour. Besides, smack a few motorised lcd monitors in there and it would not look out of place in an episode of pimp my ride.

The yellow one looks like something out of the death race movies. So many hours would have been spent on making that one, hours that could have been more wisely spent watching grass grow with a cold beveridge in hand.

Pete, you know I love shiny polished things and that manifold needs the bling factor added. Owner should seriously consider polishing it up before installation.

I love all those parts hanging like a big kids wind chime. I've seen that colour on the new commodores and also loved it as well. It looks like they virtually copied it from nissans 'bayside blue' colour and just tweaked it a bit.

I'd love to know what caused that. Before you go ahead and do any cutting, why don't you just have a go at straightening it out? A big sledge hammer and a board/metal piece in the cabin and have at it! Or maybe a couple of your largest mates stamping it back into place. Or a porta power to pull/push it back into shape. Worth a try. Worse case scenario is the frame rail buckles and you have to replace it.
