Hi Have what I believe is a 240K L6 gearbox - I really want to get rid of the whole thing ($300) if you're interested - located in Silverdale western Sydney
-
There are plenty lying around Carlos's shed at Castlereagh (near Penrith) give him a call on 0418 284 776 at Sports Classic and tell him Paul recommeded him. ! If you get really desperate I have a set at home (Silverdale) Paulo

:)Great photo's, and was good to meet some of you guy's - I was the one flogging Zed and 1600 stuff out of the boot of the Camry. This years event was bigger, and certainly a great cross section of Datsuns.
-
I installed the Stuart Wilkins T/C and he gave some advice re the poly products - he has experienced several customers cars with advanced deterioration with a certain product (I will leave it up to you to enquire/do your own research, but they are still on the shelves and are blue in colour). The T/c is certainly stock looking, but I doubt if you will have any problems with the retaining nut he supplies. Whittie, may be the way to go? Paulo

The rear sway bars are definately not similar (at least to a 240) to a P510, some train of thought is they are not needed if the spring/damper combination is correct and toe-in is adjusted accordingly. I think it really comes down to your driving style and application if you think larger front bar/rear bar combinations may be how you will dial in your preferences. Options ... opinions...don't you just love them? Paulo

Ditto Alans comments, especially the one near a certain detention centre ACT is supposed to be good because of the environmental factors mentioned. Good luck Paulo

Just finished doing the front of the '71 (red colour 905) and it was definitely dull red. It is now hamertone charcoal - just to cover the history of stone chips and damage. :-\ Paulo

Guy's, this is a must go event - based on last years big day out, the range of cars, bargains and the number of interested and interesting people made for a great day. Zeds to 1600's and everything inbetween in original or modified, they were all there! Paulo

I was at the WRC in Coffs Harbour, looking at the roll on- roll off crates of cars, gear and life of the elite. Then I focused on the older category and replica's, and thoughts turned to the exploits of Evan Green, P76's and days gone by. Yes, it may be difficult to plan for the unexpected, but the Cold War is over and as has been said, the memories will last our live's out. Good idea about the HiLux, maybe a documentary - a Zed would be perfect(!). Would Asia Pacific rally contacts be a first start to getting the ground logistic's sorted? This is definitely a long term bucket plan, just needs old heads and the wisdom of the great to get it going. Paulo

Was there last year, a great day and plenty of models representing the Datsun marque... looking forward to it! It's in my diary, and for those interested in the swap/sell, there are great deals to be had.

Hi all, A mate of mine has decided to dismantle his rally Skyline which has matched triple 40's, mod head (and cam) and is attached to a L28. The L2.8 comes with a spare engine. Ideally, he would like to get rid of it in one hit, the dollar amount is around the $1900 mark. Contact Mick King 0247 353057 at Emu Plains - tell them Paul sent you, I'll donate some dollars to the forum from any sale that eventuates. And does this combination go? You bet your sweet bippy it does! Results sheet from AMSAG rallies testify to it being a front runner in the hands of his son, Dave.

To throw my two bob's worth in... I agree that the Japanese equipment of the period was not endorsed by "those in the know" motoring editors and the likes of Jeremy Clarkson with pro British sentiments. This attitude will prevail as that generation of motoring enthusiast will carry this burden of sentiment when looking for a "really wicked investment". Why do I like the Zed - I remember seeing my first one being tortured at a motorkhana in 1970 by a sixty year old something driver. And the lines, more gracefull than an E type. I was sold, it only took twenty years to get one, another 14 years of storing what I believed was a really good investment in time, pleasure and sure, maybe one day a sale. But for now, keep what you have for tomorrow, I truly regret selling my factory fitted "moon-roof" Datsun P510, since converted to a turbo'ed, exotic dream machine for the current owner. No value to my mind now, but as everyone says "its in the eye of the beholder". Paulo

Good to see another Zed under "constructive surgery" - welcome and good luck. I'm located in Silverdale, so perhaps our paths will cross - I start spraying in September when the weather gets more conducive (at LAST!!!), happy to give you any contacts you may need as the project unfolds. Paulo

I agree that the Rally Australia was, well, pretty ordinary in the organisation stakes for 2009. That said, a bunch of us from AMSAG are travelling up for a sabbatical interlude and any help that is needed, just get back to me. Be there for the four days of fun. Regards Paulo

Hi, What condition are the rims in and location? Wife has given tentative approval. I assume they are 6" x 14" - thanks for any info. Paul
-
G'day, When your at the stage of rear drums, brake booster, master cylinder removal, could you let me know? Thanks Paul

Hi Chipp, Try Carlos at SportsClassic (Castlereagh, near Penrith) 02 4776 1174 or 0418 284 776 - email is sales@sportsclassic.com.au. Warren at Allzparts [allzparts@aol.com] is closer at Hornsby - but he may be slow to respond. Carlos has a yard full of zed's in various states of condition, but looking at my tank (240 z - 1971) which I drained out last week, they tend to be fairly solid items. Good luck! Paul

I would have to agree that the "do it at home" process would not be really worth the effort. I used to get sheet metal/posts for sign work done. Any powder coat company can also do rocker covers (black in the case of my L18's) and you might consider other items for your pride and joy, eg brackets, metal fuel lines in the engine compartment etc. I was being charged less than the cost of a spray can for most items. Colours are usually restricted to the "Colour Bond" range for general roofing and fences.

Hi Hopo, As a past resident of Springwood and in the midst of doing up my Zed in Silverdale, look forward to viewing your finished project! Good luck - Warren and Allan are a great source of info. Paulo

Just a question... If I put my 1 degree negative camber front 240z strut top to the rear of a 240Z (Stuart Wilkinson item) would I a) get lower ride height and b) achieve the same outcome as a higher cost rear decamber kit from, say, KMac? Staurt has a poly product which replaces the rubber and off sets the strut insert location hole. Paulo

Welcome aboard! I notice that zaczed has a 2+2 up for sale, it would be a nice trip home in the zed from western Sydney!
