  1. Congrats on the house Bballs, glad to hear it all went through. Z lolly store!
  2. Has Bad Dog got a website or something? I did a search on the net and on Hybridz and found Jatz!
  3. True, a black engine bay can suit Zed's with the 70's race, JDM, flares look I reckon. Good solution with the loom, you can probably get away with that, the problem is those lines... nobody would argue that replacing them is a good thing, it just increases the scope of the job a little (if you have a white engine bay like me )! Just an idea: have you thought about the speedo cable route... It goes from speedo, through to engine bay and then back along gearbox. If that cable could run up through the transmission tunnel somehow (maybe through inner shift boot...maybe), that would be one less cable in the engine bay for a pretty easy re-route?
  4. Mate interested in this part of the repower as your gonna repaint the engine bay. How are you going to get behind the brake and electrical cables - remove them or wrap em up maybe? Will have to do this with mine someday.
  5. So... are you guys saying... they're gone? lol
  6. We are blessed with the same name, so you must be half decent Welcome and good luck with the car, it's fun to get a project, post up some snaps.
  7. I think the first paragraph by Silverz is true, I don't post too much anyhow but have been put off when I read some of the comments posted about any member, no matter how wrong they are, that loser with the 240 front panels exempted! The members who did wrong in this case probably know they should perhaps have brought it up with the Webmaster, it did not seem their right to take matters into their own hands from what I could tell. I reckon think first, then post... Remember how many members read what you write and make their own judgement, far far more than who reply... I am a daily Z forum deciple and this is a top little forum, it's awesome to share such a terrific car as the Z with dudes willing to help out with time, parts or advice! Time for good Karma and teachings from the Lama
  8. I have the same speedo as that one and she's a JDM one, which could have come from either of the 240/260 Fairlady's I'm guessing, handy as they are in kay's.
  9. Great thread! Yes I'm doing this conversion now - S14 gearbox has been reconditioned, dropped the bellhousing off to be acid and bead blasted today, then over to a local engineering place here on the coast for the modifications to the 260z housing, damn shame I have to go away next week! The mods for the housing look to be: -Bore larger hole for countershaft bearing (from 56mm to 62mm dia) I'm choosing to go the larger countershaft bearing on the 71C. -Larger shift rod hole (from 14mm to 16mm dia) -Grind down the boss around the countershaft bearing to clear the wider gear at the front end of the counter shaft (3mm has been suggested) I'm no expert on this however, see this thread for another take on it: http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,3210.0.html Once the housing is complete I can take it to the gearbox reconditioning shop who will fit it all together. Thanks to Sushi for making this thread, this is a nice upgrade if you want a gearbox with wider gear widths, synchro and not forty years old.
  10. Hi Matt, Geez that's sad to hear, especially after 15 years with that car. Then again time enough for somethng newer! I have seen this car a few times and it looks the business, could be a great project to get into racing for someone.
  11. Hah good work, classic stuff Stivva!
  12. That is a nightmare I never want to make reality - sorry to see another good example get lost.

    QLD: 260Z Bellhousing

Bellhousing found, now for the xmember:)
  14. Hah that's classic, 20 years of 20 daughters is probably enough to make anyone a little twitchy:) joking here now! Warrens been good for parts, I've got all interior panels, rubber kit (there was a unused franga in one box that nobody took ownershiip for), H4's, carpet kit, 15/16 master cylinder and tonnes of other stuff I can't remember. He can get a bit busy so don't push the big guy! This did mean I have had to wait for parts a looooong time. Spoke to Miriam this week, sounds like he's on the mend.

    QLD: 260Z Bellhousing

Cheers Garvice, I caught up with him recently actually. I'll have a word with him.
  17. I know this is a long shot but with some of the cheap transport that's being mentioned on the forum and you are looking for a cheap, reconditionable (nice word) gearbox too, you might want to ring these guys on the goldie...I've used them for lots of go fast bits. www.japaneseperformance.com.au http://www.facebook.com/pages/Japanese-Parts-Performance/85932291500?sk=wall

None yet. I'd be happy to have a 25/300 box but a sorted S14 with synchro's and more strength than a 71A could do me for the time being, I'm not too much of a hoon! Plus I already have the S14, it's off getting recond now so I won't mess with fate. Don't know if anyone would be interested in a 71A for their Early Girl... When it comes out I'll check if it is in fact a 71A then let you know, I'm not going stock. Meditating for a 260z bellhousing....hhhuuuuuuuummmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Fellas Dont know exactly when it happened, but my 71A is stuffed, it pops out of 4th as you decellerate and sounds like a cement mixer. I've found a S14 with a stuffed synchro that is off to be recond, but I will be needing a bellhousing soonish. If anyone out there has a 260Z bellhousing currently mooring the tinny, keeping the gate shut or pretending to be a bbq I'd love to liberate it! I can pay you for it and pick it up.
  20. Mate, you are getting there, now that shed is pretty much done, you need something to use the jack on...enter 260Z!
  21. Man that's XXX Zed action right there! Probably no 432's in Kanga country is there?
  22. That's why I will be going turbo...you can spend 10k on internals and the engine will be a precision, high maintenance beast with maaaybe 250whp, probably any Skyline will still take ya. Go turbo for perhaps a little less $ and you have a broader power range anywhere from say 200 to 400 and it's done nice n easy with injection looking after it all.... Don't maybe sound so go though
  23. No pressure at all from us...buy it! I'm putting together something similar and it ain't a rip that's for sure!
  24. Vertical and on 71's I think.
  25. Mr Consistency Looks like a good Z turn out!
