  1. I just clicked a link to the foum that took me to the front page of AuszCar and I saw the rightup on Sulio's lush looking Zed. Is that car still around, is the owner a member here? Just curious.
  2. Ok so chassis rails, removal of engine/gearbox, stereo and speaker box, clutch, finish porting - and then put it all back, too easy!!!

    L28T build

Yes that's right Pete, alrighty then, saving! The L28 that will eventually be the turbo is in bits. The only engine (other than the original on a stand) is in the car! but I should be able to pick one up from a few guys up here in Queensland. It will be good to see how the cooling of this beast will go too...

    L28T build

Cheers fellas, good information. Will have to think about picking up those bits then. I saw one of those filters recently for minor dollars, but thought nothing of it :-\

    L28T build

Couple of questions here, first one will probably answer itself, the little oil filter thingo is a good move?... Yes! But if it is worth having on a high performance engine, with most likely a super fussy owner who would change the oil every 50k? I guess I'm just asking how much theses original filters are worth it, would appreciate what you reckon. Secondly with the girdle, is it necessary if you are going with the Arizona Z aluminium oil pan, which is saif to give more strength? The more the better I suppose? Pretty excited to see how this build comes out as I'm getting ready for a 28ET as well. Z
  6. I'm talking R200, as you say, 230 is a little OTT! I know there are others here who know far more about this then me, but I reckon the R180 could handle 300bhp atw, but it's the axles which would pop?! So to get the stronger axles you need to move to the R200. Like Greg, I'd like to know if there is another way to beef up the R180 because the subi LSD diffs are a pretty interesting option. That could work d3coy. After my histerics last night on getting a reply from Modern Motorsports I'm not too concerned about the TT coilovers, but coilovers are maybe three, five or more years down the track if I can be bothered as my car sits pretty good now with Koni reds and King springs

    Do I or Don't I

Very nice condition but it's so hard to put a figure on them!
  8. Hahaha slap me with a wet fish! Just checked my email and who has replied?! Ross from MM, he's working out the shipping for me! It's on boys n gurls, lets hope this diff kit works, gonna need your help here fellas! P.S. Promise this is the last double post I do
  9. Well it's not a bad option d3coy, I did a few sums on shortnose over longnose (lol sry) and the price works out about the same due to the difference in R200 diff prices (long around $1000 anyday and a short about $250). And with a newer diff that's smaller, some say stronger and with more ratios to choose from it seems a good idea to buy a kit. I mean you could most likely get one of these kits landed and a R200 shortnose diff for less than a R200 longonse! The rest of the job pricing after that would basically be identical. NZder I spoke to TechnoToy a few months back and he said I did'nt have to go five stud (use S14 4 lug) which I was happy about, but with his kit you had to use his strut cartridges and convert to coilovers. I don't really like that as it's expensive enough upgrading the cars toosh as it is. Plus with all the seperate prices I don't quite know what to make of the TechnoToy kit! MM seem to have fallen off the planet and TT is getting too involved! Enter old faithful longnose I think
  10. This ain't a bad price for new, but shipping is the factor I guess: http://technotoytuning.com/productdetail.php?p=582
  11. Great race car Ledge, it looks fantastic. That Chevy monster is insane!
  12. Email sent to Ross at MM, lets see how long this takes..... tick tock tick tock!
  13. That is disappoinnting about Modern Motorsports. Okay... I'll send him another email today and if he gets back to me I will perhaps start up a thread for this as I want this diff set-up BAD!
  14. Not sure what you guys reckon, but seriously considering this; http://www.modern-motorsports.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=74&PHPSESSID=a179170917ed428044db9c90f52342db
  15. For sure Garvice, I'll let you know when we are meeting up and I'll drive round to yours. Navanskyline are those Ford mirrors...
  16. You have been looking for a while, so congratulations. Big drive on Wednesday I'll bet, if you want to catch up there are a few guys here in Brisbane that may be planning a cruze soon.
  17. Stuart Wilkins can modify the vertical gearbox mount for the 71. Pretty good service too, send him your mount, he'll modify it and send it back the same day he gets it. I'll do that when we are ready to have the car not moving for a while, hang-on, my car is permanently like that! Ya coulda told me three months ago Waxie!

    Rotten chasis rails

Nato, mines a 71 and I'm keen for the rear extensions, front extensions and maybe the middle rails as well. Interesting about your comments on the sills providing the anti-twist there is a foam type product that gets sprayed into the sills and hardens, it then puts outward pressure on the sills, creating more strength. Apparently rally cars have this done and I personally have seen a few hard core drift cars and imported front cuts with this done too. Easy, low cost improvement for extra strength... Anyway, if you are into making something up for RB30X and/or myself I'm ready now.
  19. No posts since May...Slacka! You know when you have a big Zed day? I think this was one of them. Have not posted much as working on two areas of the car, the interior, no suprises there, and seeing as the center console is out I may as well replace the gearbox! Truth be told the original box was like a cement mixer so in it's place is a fully reconditioned S14 turbo box with wider 1st and 2nd and double synchro's, should be plenty nicer. I have made gains with the interior, just need a few parts for the dashboard and that should be done. Also picked up a rare Tomei shifter, won't make the changes any smoother though haha.
  20. Nice Simmons on Ozdat, may get them for 1500. Trust me, these are not easy to find (v4's (four stud) and in 16inch) and will cost waaay more, I'd jump these: http://ozdat.com/classifieds/index.php
  21. So this would be Scott's page for Z's, the prices are pretty good: http://www.scottsoldautorubber.com.au/Datsun%201969-78%20240Z-260Z.htm
  22. I've got the same issue with mine too, had them in since about a year ago. The car has not had much driving but the driver's side should be better by now, got mine from All Z Parts, I could be in for a set too if they are better suited.

    L28T build

Really interested to see how this build goes Pete, what will the specs on the injection be (injectors, ITB size etc)?
  24. Haha, welcome to another QUEENSLANDER! Warren at All Z Parts is another parts person of the Zed world. Searching nissan/datsun parts on flea bay also can help depending on the part you are after. I needed 300zx turbo axles, and just picked up a pair as a guy was parting out a whole 1986 car, there were no axles on their own for sale, if you know what I mean, ohh to hell with it. Welcome mate!
