As stated above work from your plugs back to your distributor. Swap a couple of plugs over then a couple of leads then check and clean the dizzy cap. If you're still running points then this may have an effect as well. I've seen a bad coil do a similar thing as well. Where the duty cycle on the coil was just about stuffed and created a pattern with an intemittant spark. Steve -
Yeah, Its a SAAS wheel. A mate had the exact same one on his RX4. They had a rubber grip on them but some of the later ones had leather and wood as well.

I did a little more research on this and there are a couple of different types of powder coatings. Apparently the powders that are classed as decorative are porous and not good for our applications. There are ways however to make it a good corrosion barrier that lasts for more than 15 years when exposed to the weather. Just remember that powder coating is has pores and won't seal the surface of the wheel so it may not be the best coating for such a high weathered area.

I still need to get it checked out by an engineer but I thought of the internal bolt that holds the rear towing loop in place. If you lift up the floor mat in the hatch area you'll see a bolt that is in the floor towards the back corners. This is the only place that I can think of without modifying. Steve

Hey Gav, I'm mates with a guy called Adam Crazie who is the marketing manager for Ironman 4x4 products and he is always travelling over to china and other places to research and develop parts for their catalog. I could have a chat with him to see whats involved and we may even be able to piggy back some of the manufacturing that they get done. Can't promise anything but I'll give him a call. Steve -
That really does suck. I had a similar thing with the same outcome for my 280zx. Well I guess there is only one thing for it. Find a doner shell and use the cash that you get from insurance to get the parts you need and then have a few working bee's / BBQ's with a bunch of guys and you'll be back driving a zed before you know it. Hard to pick back up again though.

It says they have steel components inlayed into the monocoque shell so I guess they've done the same thing with the suspension mounts. It looks to be nearly an inch thick at the strut towers so if its that thick across the hatch floor then I'd hate to try and fit a spare tyre in there.

The pinch weld stuff will sit a little prouder than OEM but it will have a good seal and will settle down after a while anyway. You don't have to glue it on either. Steve

Hey Tim. Did you get the weather strip from C. Ede's in South Townsville? If you can get a sample of what you want they can order stuff in as well. They were always really good to me when I built up my Toranan and the Mini. Steve

Sweet. I think I just found my nearly rust resistant zed that I thought I'd be looking for in a few years. haha. 330lbs is really really light too. It'd make an awesome track day car.

Like it or not you can't deny the level of craftsmanship in the vehicle. Just the planning and forethought that has gone into the car is absolutely amazing. Steve

There are a couple of cheap options for the front. You can chat to Benzed at Otomoto about the inserts that he has or you could look at a set of S13 struts for the front which are a straight bolt on as well. Kind of like this. http://newcastlezeds.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1184213091/80#80

I had the same deal with him when I told him that the price he wanted for a 280zx that he had sitting there in his yard for 3 years was too much and he told me to get stuffed and hung up on me. If you can get back up to my place you can get the one out of the red shell parked in the driveway. But like I said I'm still stuck at work till the 18th.

While we're on the band wagon for testing. I'm a big believer that everyone should do the learners test every time you renew your licence. There are drivers out there.......... Maybe even some of you on here. lol. that have never had to do any sort of test involving even simple things like how to use a round-a-bout.

I know with my 4wd I removed the auxilary tank and moved the primary tank forward (race truck) and I had no problems with rego. Didn't need to get an engineers cert or anything. (QLD). It was really common to put drop tanks in the old muscle cars as well with quite a few of these being filled from behind the number plate or the rear of the car like toranas and falcons. Quite a few of these didn't even have a filler outside the car. You'd fill them up inside the boot, but these were sedans not hatches hence the boot area was separated from the cabin.

Hey mate, I can replace any loom that someone sends you at my cost. So if someone has one sitting around that they were going to use I can replace it for them if that helps.

As far as I can see, whether you agree or not that these laws are going to make a difference or are going to infringe on freedom of rights etc. At least it has a lot of people talking about it. That is, as far as I'm concerned, the most effective way to educate people. Bring the subject out in the open as a talking point that goes across a wide range of people. If nothing else comes of it at least people will see the general public feeling on the subject.

In the end the cops have recognised that hoons (and not just young adults) don't think about the risk of killing someone. Thats why they are targeting them with something that they do think about. Most of the P platers that I know would feel much more affected if they saw their car crushed than they would if they died. Not that you would actually feel much at all if you died. But you get my point. Losing their car is more in the forefront of their mind than causing an accident or dying. Thats the reality and thats why these laws have been brought in.

I had the same thing happen to me in my 280zx a couple of months ago. Not so lucky on the damage though. It buckled the floor and roof as well as bulging out the rear guards. It became a very good parts car.

You know it isn't that hard to remove the window wipers and antenae. lol. Easier than removing the lights.

I already have 13 of these 280zx wheels at home. Can't get rid of them. I'm sure they multiply.
