  1. I'll take the power steering unit please Andy. Thanks, Graham
  2. Custom made Z air box for triple webbers as per photos, $500. I'm in Bayside Melbourne.
  3. As per the above photo, in the later 70's and early 80's the Nissan Race Team used Nissan Urvans as their service vehicles which had been fitted with heavily modified six cylinder L series motors (they came standard with 4 cylinders) which would out drag many road cars.
  4. Thanks all for the clarification. PM sent Matt.
  5. Hi Matt. What year is your car as I think this is the later version of the original splash panel as it doesn't have the drain holes (ie post '73)? Thanks Graham
  6. Actually the whole point is not that Nissan USA sold the car but that dat2kman is looking for evidence of only one new car being sold by a dealer to a customer with factory sports options fitted. The magazine ordered their project Omega car new from a dealer with the listed options fitted. Whilst no invoice thereof is provided hopefully for dat2kman the article this is sufficient evidence for his purposes.
  7. Clarification, whilst the MK63 brake calipers were not fitted other sports options were as detailed in the article and list.
  8. Actually I believe there is evidence that a USA Dealer supplied new, off the lot, with said items fitted, for public road use as reported in the USA magazine Car & Driver July 1971 issue as per attached (source - refer image 6). Refer to image 4 for options fitted.
  9. It would make a unique wall clock!
  10. Perhaps it is but it sure does look original with the writing at the bottom, hence it would be good if Alan can comment. Attached is a scan of the rally tacho from the Sports Option catalogue.
  11. From Yahoo Japan a number of years ago. It was advertised that it was from a Z and it is in a Zed housing but if not perhaps it was from a Skyline GTR (ie KPGC10)? The date stamp says 12 Oct but I can't make out the year. Perhaps Alan can shed more light?
  12. If it helps attached are photos of my 10k tacho.
  13. Great post guys. So what's the difference between the series 1 dash hazard switch and the console hazard switch below (are they different markets) and where does the on/off dash decal go?
  14. I have a Gavin Strongman air box for sale - $250.
  15. As my wife would say, "I'm gob smacked!" Well done & congrats Adam, just simply superb.
  16. Well done Jarrod. Welcome to the Zed family and especially with an early bird!
  17. Great going so far Roger. Best of luck for the remainder.
  18. Faaarrrrkkkkkiiinnn awesome Mossy. Brilliant. Easily one of the best Zeds I've seen. Can't wait to see it for real. Congrats.

    NDSOC Drive day.

The back road from Eildon to Jamo forms 4 stages for Targa High Country on day two (Sunday) being 2 x 2 in reverse, one being just over 30 klms starting a third of the way in towards Jamo and the other at the end of the road before you come out of the hills, just before Jamo, is about 12k's. The 30k stage is awesome because you have a twisty start, then the middle is very long and straight and f'ing fast (>200kph & on the rev limiter in 5th) and then twisty again for the end. It was very hot this year so after the 30k stage you were totally stuffed but the roads driven at flat out are just totally awesome. The third stage also done in reverse is the back road from Eildon to Alexandra that runs towards the Eildon boat harbour which although only about 10ks is like a miniture version of the above 30k stage. The only problem with the Jamo road on weekends is that you can get cyclists doing the stage as I encountered when I was doing my pre-Targa recce to check my pace notes. I'm not sure who shat their pants first them or me when I found them on the wrong side of the road coming down the hill and me going up it!!! Luckily I missed them. As a kid I can remember driving along the road when it was unsealed, and now racing on it - who would have known. I'm glad you enjoyed it Gordo - I look forward to doing this stage again soon, perhaps with you before next year's Targa?
  21. Saturday was great. Daryl Duff and myself having the lone Z's amongst a heap of varied cars including Group C & A tourers, Cobra's, Daytona's, GT40's, GTR's, Aussie muscle, bikes, etc, etc. The Prince Club had a display (with others) and Karyn H-F was racing her Prince. Irvin Vincent motorcycles were also there who recently rode at Goodwin. Their bikes are a work of art and fully hand built. Great weather as well but it poured on the drive home to Melb. Best I could do was a 13.2 over the 380m length track with heaps of wheel spin. Didn't really care as the comradier btn the entrants was great fun. The Brobky like hand on the window was me driving back to the pits. But the highlight was probably this radical rear engine V12 home made 1930's styled grand prix stunner.
  22. Well what a great event. Hodgo and myself had an absolute ball despite a mechanical problem half way thru day 1 until the end. We ended 16th outright from 52 cars in classic and 10th on handicap from 20 in early classic. All the 7 Zeds acquitted themselves very well with Siddins/Ferguson winning handicap and 2nd outright. Apart from our mechanical issue the car was sensational. We were very pleased with our result given the issue. A vey very big thankyou to Hodgo who was awesome in giving directions, calling like a pro. Also a very big thankyou to the Devenish's for helping us trying to fix the still unknown driveline vibration problem we had. We'll be pulling it apart next week to fix it so I can do the Geeelong Sprint. The stages were just awesome and I would strongly suggest in Melb/Vic based guys to go for a cruise over them as you will be highly impressed. There was everything from a sprint thru the streets of Mansfield, flat out over 200klm/hr sections to tight twisty stuff beside cliffs with 300 ft over the edge drops with no safety guard rails, fast lowing flip flops and the mighty hill climb to the top of Mt Buller. Who needs a Targa Tassie tour with these roads on our door step! An hour highlights package will be shown tomorrow (Sat 17th) on 7Mate at 1pm.
  23. I have long been admiring yours from a distance and yes whilst a money pit, you would only probably blow it some other useless hobby!! Would I be correct in guessing you may have out bidded me for the rally clock on ebay? Yes the Full River is very good value for money compared to the Odyssey. It weighs next to nothing (7 kg) and is ideal if you leave the car sitting for long periods. However, you must isolate the battery (applies to both) if the car is sitting for long periods otherwise if will drain the battery and whilst they can be recharged they don't hold a full charge as well. Still at $135 on ebay they're cheap to replace. I've had both and for my mind the Full River is the better but that will depend on your level of use/application. The rims are made by Enkie but are Nismo branded. They were made for the R31 Skylines. I got the first set brand new when they were released for my previous white Zed and picked up another set second hand from a forum member who has a contact in Japan. They are super light and strong. It drives very well. I'm very pleased with it. At Targa High Country it was fantastic being able to throw it around with confidence. The Yoko's A050's are highly recommended if you intend to do some track time (but not as a road tyre). We had a mechanical issue half way through day one which held us back somewhat for the rest of the rally but we still able to pull out very competitive times, to finish 16th outright from 52 classic cars, a pleaseing result all things considered. I haven't had a chance to look at any of the incar footage yet so hopefully it went well! I will put some up in due course. Thanks for the comments, much appreciated and all the best with completing your masterpiece. Cheers, Graham
  24. Here's to wishing your Dad (& yourself) all the best Daniel, hopefully he can beat the Porkas and win Classic outright. I'll be competing with the able asistance of Bluerat510 (Adrian) as my co-driver. Even though it is our our first rally together we'll be having a fair crack so hopefully we won't be to far behind. As they say, to finish first you have to first finish, so here's hoping so for all the Zeds... Look forward to catching up with you both up there. Cheers, Graham.
  25. Thanks guys for all your great comments and I really appreciate the feedback. In particular, John’s comment that it should be called project Tsunami is to be honest somewhat of a stretch as my build compared to his and David’s (and others doing major upgrades) is but a ripple when compared to what these guys are engineering. For all you guys on the forum doing your own rebuilds I am always envious at how much skill you all display. Whilst I am handy with timber and house building having done hands on major house reno’s in the past, my car building skills (metal, mechanical, electrical) are very lacking to almost being non-existant. Hence in my case I had no real option but to farm out the technical stuff to the pros (specifically Rob, and Mike & Simon @ PowerPlay whom I all can’t speak highly enough of). I am somewhat of a perfectionist and whilst I would have loved to have attempted to do the work myself, I don’t have the space at home and with a young family and excessive work commitments, it just would not have got done. I was fortunate however that Rob let me do all the grunt work in his workshop giving me 24 hour excess to it whenever I could fit it in. So many a late night was spent there doing whatever he directed me to do. So my direct involvement was really limited to stripping the car, non-skilled manual work, stripping & painting parts, assisting putting them back into the car and refitting the interior. The way I looked at it, to acquire the skills to do the job properly would take me a lifetime, so instead I I work hard at my job to give me the financial means to spend on the car to get it done quicker. Hence why I am envoius of all your skills. Still I am proud of it, its mine, I planned it, worked on it and paid for it! To provide some background on the car, I purchased it in 2002 of Andrew Dunne from the NDSOC as somewhat of an unfinished project car but running. I had already started to modify my 260Z 2 seater and was about to commence turning it into a targa car when Andrew put his car came up for sale along with a list of parts. Essentially what he hadn’t done to it mechanically I had done to my 260Z so I swapped the better parts from the 260 onto the 240 and then sold the 260 and unwanted parts to Peter Mac which is now his awesome track car (refer attached photo). I first came across the 240 when I joined the NDSOC back in 1987 so I was aware of its long history. In fact the rear bumper of my 260 was sold on put on it back in 1990! Prior to the 260 I started my Z addiction in 1984 with a 2+2, modified it and then moved to the 2 seater 2 years later. So I’ve been a Zed owner continuosly now for almost 30 years, which is about how long I know Gordo (I've only seen pictures of the porka and besides, we all make mistakes in life, right Gordo!) David, as for the dogbone on the front calipers, they were already fitted when I purchased the car but I believe Daniel Moore may have done the original fitting although Mike did make improvements to the setup. As for the Merc disks, I’ll have to dig through my files and get back to you with the part number. Simon choose them because of their thichness but he had to do some slight machining on the hub to get them to fit, as well as slotting them, but otherwise they measured up really well for my rims. Unfortunately I can’t make theXmas BBQ as I’ll be competing in the Geelong Speed Trials on the Saturday but I’ll be there in spirit at least! But I need to first bring it back from Targa High County in one piece! And yes Gareth, there should be plenty of incar footage all going well. If nothing at least perhaps this thread is the shortest complete rebuild! Hopefully it will inspire others to complete theirs and enjoy the fruits of their labour!
