  1. Is there a specific episode or is it the whole series? I don't have 2 gig download spare atm.
  2. How good can a story line be with goodie and baddie robots that transform from coffe machines and mobile phones and ice cream trucks.
  3. So pay more for a machine if you suck at welding? I'd like one that can do gas and gasless but most of the time I wouldn't use the gas. And I thought everything used argon? Where I work everything is eaten by acid so everything regardless of what typre of steel it is, is welded with stainless rods (309 or 316). I thought if you used stainless on the car you'd never have to worry about the welds ever corroding again, only the steel around them. I don't know anything though, hence these questions. As I have a good arc welder, I wouldn't need a MIG that can do the bigger stuff just floor pans and chasis rails etc.
  4. I have a good arc welder with provisions to add on TIG capabilites but I think that would take too long and MIG's seem more suited to rust/panel repair stuff. So my question is what sort of MIG have you guys got or what would you recommend to buy for Z related work? I did a search on here but noone is very specific about what they use. Some go for $500 up to $2000 so I'd like a bit of expert advice. Also, do you use mild wire or stainless. Cheers
  5. Wow, I thought I liked the movie before this. I guess at the end of the day he paid his money to go see it like everybody else.
  6. I've done some cleaning up of underneath the car. The whole floor pan was coated in rubber so my grinder was doing a 'burn out' the whole time and I had to wear a respirator. It's probably not as bad as I thought, as there is still good steal close to the rusted hole sections, but I will have to replace the chasis rails. And I've also replace the clutch master and slave cylinder: http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,5316.0.html
  7. If only you could fit "a long time ago in a galaxy far far away...." on a number plate.
  8. I've was trying to bleed the clutch system recently and not being used for a few years has caused the 240Z's clutch master and slave cylinder to lose all pressure sealing capabilty. I has also transplanted the L28 and its manual gearbox as well so I thought I'd try one of the masters I pinched from a donar car. This was no good either. I tried brake mart and a few other locals for rebuild kits for them and new slaves were cheap enough to buy new ($23) but no rebuild kits available for the master in either 240Z or 280ZX but a new 280ZX master cylinder was only $50. PLus they look pwurdy. I did go as far as dummy fitting the old 280zx master so I new they fitted but the piston arm/ram was shorter than the 240's meaning half the clutch pedal travel. Luckily the new 280zx one had more adjustment in the thread. Red is 240z black is 280zx new is 280zx Two new holes had to be drilled to mount the 280zx master cylinder as the old on has a verticle bolt pattern and the new is offset. You cannot use the bottom hole in the master cylinder housing as this fouls on something inside the cabin. A new hole had to be drilled to suit. You also have to slot out a section of the flange to clear the rib in the firewall. Next I removed the whole original assembly from the car so I could get a 10mm ring onto the tube fittings properly. As you know these can round very easily. Once apart I checked the lines were clear and a heap off crap came out of my original 240 line so I used a spare 280 one. You also have to use the little piston rod out of your old slave so I gave mine a scrub with emery tape to clean it up. New 280zx clutch master cylinder installed with new bolts. Next you need to re-install the pin through the rod as you'd know when you dis-assembled. And then install the new 280zx slave which look identical to the 240z. Then bleed the system and you're away. Oh, here is a good view of the pin going through the rod...... from underneath my car. So the best news is, I actually drove my Z today. ;D Ok so I had no seats or engine control but I backed it out of the patio so I could work on the cooling system without making a mess.
  9. OMG, you bought them off ebay I'm pretty sure they're nothing special, you should sell them to me.
  10. Combustion Engines 101.
  11. You smooth out the air flow increasing velocity in the stacks before the fuel gets added in the carb then the air/fuel travels through the turbulent walled manifold and port.
  12. Please tell me its going in the Zed
  13. Hey mate, I could use the 280zx manual for more specific info on the L28 I just put in my 240Z. If someone wants it that actually has a 280zx then they can have it. Thanks Tim
  14. For a quick scribble in paintbox, that it the most accurate drawing to describe your question I have ever seen. Congrats I have been asked the same thing about mine which were already installed. Mine are currently like exibit A and I thought thats how they were supposed to be?
  15. So early R32's had an RB20 for non GTR's and an RB26 for the GTR's, but your RB25 from an na R33 has been running the R32 manifold that only fits RB20's, and not RB25's from R33's.??....say that ten times fast. I think you've got your R32's and R33's round the wrong way.
  16. Wow, what was the damage on one of those, and di you get special foundations built under the slab??
  17. Isn't that a charcoal canister in the pic above?? Your return hose is 1/4" or 6mm vs your supply from tank which is 8mm or 5/16".
  18. If only everyone did that
  19. Hmm, If I lived near you I'd have bought this already. It it a genuine na motor or a turbo with different pistons? What would you sell the inlet manifold for?
  20. Here's a youtube vid of my Z running with the L28. I emptied what gunk was in the oil damper pots and refilled with 3cc of dextron III. Do you know how hard it is to find that info, not so much what oil but how much oil. Have a look at their operation in the vid and see if the SU's are performing ok. Stupid me left the choke on so it blows some smoke.
  21. got any before or after pics?
  22. Mine is apparently a 73 so I have one but not sure where it goes? I can't see a large enough space around the strut tower to put it. Only passenger side firewall.
  23. I've got a 280zx air flow meter if that's the same thing. PM me if you want it.
  24. I need to replace my floor pans but underneath the car especially the chasis rails are also rotten. Has anyone performed a replacement like the one on this site: http://alteredz.com/structuralmods.htm I'd rather do it all at once before the interior goes in. cheers
