I was worried about a oily cylinder but an oil change and its gone! An involuntary oil change on a servo floor I think I need the spoiler, at 110km it gets noticably lighter, when faster the rear feels pushed down and the front lifts - get skitish.... I travel 1000km round trips in the zed a lot... I have done 25,000km in it since december with a minimum of fuss... I do fix/replace all the normal problems before they raise their heads. E.g. new fuel hoses, filters, change oil in diff and bix, check seals regularly....

I travel from Picton to Coffs Harbour roughly once a month for work and usually drive the zed up. Its made 5 trips now, roughly 1100km return, all without a single problem! As I am sure people am aware of, its flooding on the North Coast at the moment, and being a little stupid I came anyway. I drove up to Port Macquarie, the across to Walcha, to Armidale, Glen Innes, Grafton, finally arriving Coffs Harbour. I left at 5am and didnt arrive until 5:30pm! The zed was awesome, though I now realise I need a spoiler because the front gets very light at 150km/hr I got to drive some pretty spectacular roads though! Anyone else done regular long trips in their zed?

To do panels and material up to 2mm, something around the 200amp would kill it. There are lots of decent little CIG weld welders out there for reasonable money... Make sure you use GAS! gasless welding often ends up very porous and splatters crap everywhere... Expect to pay rougly $500 for a welder that'll last provided you arent welding 5 hours a day everyday...

The problem with saying "straight body with minimal rust" is that you cant actually be certain of that... Removing old paint and sandblasting a vehicle is a sure way of findin thin metal, which the blaster may go through, and all kinds of other scary things... I would be really suprised if a beater gave you an exact quote to do a bare metal respray, unless he said all repairs are at an hourly rate... As Lurch said, budget $6+K for a bare metal respray adventure but just understand that it could be more if nasties are found...

DEfinately keep it red. Keep the history of the vehicle, but possibly a slightly different shade to make it yours?

roughly how much are you chasing for it?

just a thought as never seen the results, but what about the plastic 'chrome' paint you can buy at a lot of car shops?

Funnily enough after writing this up I had a major issue raise its ugly head on my at 9:30 at night... Driving home, notice oil pressure getting really low > pull into a servo and check the oil level and its really low... Notice a line of drips coming out the back and i'd been losing oil for about 5km.... Go into the servo, buy 5L of 10-40w oil, put it in and turn car on - oil pressure goes up then plumets! The oil feed to the turbo blew off and spewed about 4 litres of oil everywhere before the guage registered the loss and went down... Luckily nothing was damaged and i put the hose back on, filled her up AGAIN and came home! I am going to buy a host of guages as the factory ones are not responsive enough/accurate.

Howdy fellows! I have an oil filter relocation block (just moves the filter to an upside down position beside the block) and it runs two lines out to my oil cooler in front of the rad. support panel. Question: 1. Did L28et engines come out originally with an oil cooler? 2. If not, will removing the cooler for the winter months be a problem in your opinion? My oil pressure never drops from the right hand side of the gauge, indicating to me that it doesnt warm up enough do to the cooler. Sound right? Can i have some educated thoughts please?

There is a bunch of these stickers floating around... There was an orginal one done ages ago about warning the passger that it has a turbo fitted and they should remove all restrictive clothing - had a piccie of a bra on it Thats a sticker I'd think about fitting, well not really coz then the restrictive clothing would never come off...

Didnt end up cooking anything? Was making some bad noises when you took off....
