  1. Damn - basically I am in the market... Can you please PM me details so I can come and have a looky.... 9 months with no Zed is no good...
  2. Damn its good to back on the site... I used a 4 outlet heater/ac unit from speedy airspares in my zed... The unit fitted, however I wasnt using the standard centre panel on the dash. Cost about $300 for all new ducting, electric thermostat, fan switch and new heater tap... Obviously you'll need to pump, drier and hoses in the engine bay... worked a freaking treat when I had the heater setup...
  3. OMG. I did this step as well. Sold my quite modified r33 and stepped into a 240z. All I can say is, you will find it hard if you're not used to old cars. I loved my zed, was ultra fun and reliable but wasn't stock by any means. Think hard about your choice here. If youthink a skyline is expensive to own and more importantly maintain, wait till you get into one of these fun cars. Plus don't buy a 240 as it probably be one I want to buy!
  4. Just checked out the build thread and I hate to say I may give this one a miss as I already have a serious build going on with my VTEC mini panel van... Sorry Barista. If anything closer and better nick turns up I'll jump back in. Wanting to do classic rallies and the zed would fit the bill sweetly.
  5. Hmmm... A couple of people with noses out of joint it seems... Chill guys... Barista - very interested in the zed. Can you shoot some mre pics of it to me because I would be very keen on the car. Missed having a zed since I sold mine. The CommonWhore, well is very common and boring....
  6. I bought a CommonWhore to drive The designers of this car must have thought "hmmmm, how can we make this boring???" And true to yankee engineering they achieved what they set out to do... Black SV6 - parked outside of my work where the zed used to be. Locky - i'm still keen to give you a hand on yours if you want it.
  7. New owner is from Vic, and not a member as far as I am aware. I thought it was going to end up going to a young kid who had all kinds of horrible plans for the car, but it has ended up with a nice lady who is a vet. She and her partner live in country Vic somewhere. They came up and were really happy with the car - said it looked a million times better in real life than in the pics. A word of warning to those interested in buying cars interstate. The purchaser initially used a VIP inspection service - they arrived on time, checked that everything on the car was as the ad stated and drove it. The inspector left my house and I felt pretty good as he gave me good feedback and said the car was great - a really well done example of a early 70s vehicle. Then to have the purchaser call and say that he wouldnt buy the car on what the inspector had said was really disappointing. Basically what occured was the inspector called the purchaser and said the car was rubbish because it wasnt standard. HE said it drives great, stops great and handles, but is rubbish because it isnt standard. When the purchaser arrived they said that what he had reported to them wasnt correct. So - just be careful if you want to use this service as the inspector isnt giving an unbiased valuation of the car.

  9. unfortunately both need to go for the time being. I am planning on getting a beater zed to do up and drive around... a lot of fun. I enjoy the builds the most - more than the driving... I know it seems strange. Keeping eyes peeled for a project once the zed goes. I have a couple of people looking at it pretty hard at the moment...
  10. The longer the stack the better for Hp and Torque. Having a longer inlet track that is straight smooths the airflow allowing it to be sucked in faster... Maybe the reason that a standard cover works best is the cold air??? I would bet its not the flow characteristics. Make a plenum with the stacks in it and it would be SWEET Have a look at the V8 supercar stacks and they're about 10cm long. -EDIT- Cannot remember if they were Supercar stacks or otherwise that I saw at a race meeting recently...

  13. First things first. Cheap alarms are well, cheap. They wont do anything, probably do not have blackened wires making it easier to trace and overall wont have the longevity, nor the safety of a more expensive item. If it breaks you may not be able to turn on the car. That being said, alarms are very easy to get past if you know the wiring loom you are working on. Also it isnt difficult to jerry up some wires to get a carby'd car going... I would purchase a club lock, and install a decent alarm as it will deter 99% of theives. The other 1% you cant do much about. Thomas
  14. Cheers Pauly! Its a very dark green metalic colour. Looks the good in the sun, but has the awesome ability to blend into dark caves when escaping the joker.... *got to get off the coffee*
  15. Thanks for the hint. I will try to personally deliver the zed to who ever buys it so I can show them the car and all the things they may need to know in person - like how to hook up the blue tooth

  17. I have just bought the goods to service the car on the weekend. I am going to do oil and filter, plugs and fuel filter, clean the K&N ar filter...

  19. A thing to note regarding strut bars is that pretty often does not mean great... That being said, look at CUSCO items, they look great, dont weigh a lot and are stiff as a virgin at a brothel. Some cheap ones on the market arent so good... Engineering firms may be able to make something pretty good for not a lot of money, might weigh more and not look as good though. Cheers, Thomas
  20. my bet is the hatch seal... the water drips down... I had this issue and investigated... basically just had to restick the hatch seal.

  22. Thanks Lurch! Yes, it has a firewall box put in. Because it then took the space where the dash was I built a custom dash for the car and had a bunch of special cables made... The weber can cause issues with a mini IF it is not properly done. This car has had HEAPS of work done to it - all by me. Re elecy ignition - I have had everything from electronic kits through to computers... Points funnily enough work just as well (if setup properly) and dont cost the earth if something goes wrong.   24. Well... A bit has occured here since Thursday Look forward to hearing from you ZD44TT... Car is in the best nick it has been since I bought her. I am planning on doing a minor service in the next week so she'll be all nice and fresh for the new owner... Plugs, oil & Filter, just done the coolant, fuel filter etc... Receiving a bit of interest from not so regular forum members who have been reading my build page.
