  1. Will do - Have done
  2. I should be there if work doesnt turn out to be the bitch it currently is being
  3. Mine is a sealed tank so prob wouldnt be of any assistance... I'll take some photos asap and post for you of the system in the spare wheel well, and of the surge tank I have.
  4. Last night was GREAT I removed that God ugly turbo timer you can see in the photo above under the steering column... THe best part was that is was only taped onto the ignition wires, not even soldered! One less defect for the car I got the central locking working With the alarm being installed this Sat, I should have remote central locking like a modern car I removed the fuel pump kill switch as it was twin-binded speaker wire running from the engine bay right around the car (abour 3.5m long) and have hooked it up using proper wire onto a switch in the dash that wasn't being used... I think I will take it to an Auto-Elecy at some point and have him tidy up some of the relays and extra wiring for the computer as I dont want to touch it... Its all coming along well...
  5. where abouts are you mounting the surge tank??? I have a good one at home, but would need to see if it would fit for u
  6. Could be... But surely wouldnt you have a back up primary pump then as well??? I have a spare VL turbo pump and mount at home, but 4 pumps for a simple 2.8l turbo with under 200kw is major overkill... I might take the other facet pump out and put my new VL turbo pump in, and keep the others as spares...
  7. Hi Guys, When fixing up my fuel pump wiring the other day I also noticed an interesting thing going on in the wheel well... I have TWO facet lift pumps feeding my surge tank, then the VL turbo pump going to the engine... Any ideas as to why I would have two lift pumps? Both are connected to the fuel hose, but only one is wired in... I can only imagine that the original owner thought that because the VL pump can do more Litres per hour than the facet (by itself) under full throttle the surge tank would drain... But, if thats the case, why has he disconnected it? It seems to be fine with just the one lift pump atm... Any thoughts?
  8. Another issue I noted over the nasty wet last week was the rear lid leaked a bit so today I pulled the rear seal off, cleaned all the old qwikgrip off, cleaned the rubber and put it back on... And here is some shots of the relatively nasty interior... I am going to pull the centre console out this week and start the re-build of it... I am thinking that I will take the ash tray out and put a couple of drink holders in there... thoughts? As you can see the centre of the main dash is pretty fugly... Sourcing new gear now... [/img]
  9. A few issues noted over the weekend... *The car is terrifying in the wet! - I am going to soften the rear sway bar, maybe raise it and soften the springs a bit to try and get more weight transfer occuring... Hopefully this will assist in turning not sliding around corners. *The fuel system is quite interesting... - I pulled the cover off the spare wheel well (been metal enclosed and fuel system is in there) to discover the biggest birdsnest of wires and fuel hose! The relay had been zip-tied to the fuel lines, speaker wire was used as the earths and nothing was soldered, it was all using those screw in block connectors! FIXED - 20 minutes with some solder, shrink-wrap and some bolts, and I have mounted the relay, redone all the wiring and now funnily enough the fuel pumps seem louder as I think they're getting propoer power *Will post piccies tonight
  10. Hope so. Got a couple of guys interested now

    240z interior

Hi guys, Read through some of the other posts and know of the commercial places I can buy new interior from, but I thought I'd give this a chance first... I need: *A decent centre console for a 240z... *The heater setup including the dash panel... *a lot of time.... Shoot me a PM. Much appreciated.
  15. A rego full cut!!! Yeah it is on Skylines Australia, and on car point... Getting a bit of interest Its a great car, probably a much better daily than the z will be, but the z is sooooo good If interested, it comes complete with everything for your conversion Make an offer and we'll go from there.
  16. yeah i think so. The body is immaculate -minus one tiny rust bubble in drivers sill... Painted inside and out. The seats look good, but are uncomfortable so will revert to standard seats... It drives really well... I already fitted a silencer to the exhaust and now its a lot more inconspicuous The looks i have gotten, people coming over to find out what it is, absolutely amazing!
  17. Just read Thredbo thread... And booked it into the diary Hopefully will have some music in the car by then
  18. Thredbo? Was there on the weekend, well almost, did the Kosiozko walk... When are people going to Thredbo...
  19. Cheers A couple of issues to fix, but thats half the fun Tell me, do these vehicles attract a lot of cop attention?
  20. Well, I jumped in and bought the car I love it, it drives really well... Its running very rich atm, but I will pop her onto the dyno before chrissie and get that sorted. Currently the car has: Engine: *L24 Block with L28 crank and rods (apparently) *N42 head and manifold *To3 turbo *alloy radiator *90mm thick custom cooler *oil cooler Gearbox and driveline *r32 71C gearbox *heavy duty clutch of unkown quality/brand *r100 diff Brakes: *Patrol master cylinder *RB25 calipers up front on BMW 735 slotted and cross drilled disks *standard drums at back *thumbs down* Wheels and suspension: *17" SParco forged rims with decent tread average tyres *KONI adjustable shocks and variable height coilovers *adjustable sway bars *adjustable camber arms (front only) Body: Body is in great nick for the age. THe re-spray has also been done inside on the floors and pillars... All rust cutout. There is one tiny bubble in the drivers sill, but the rest is really good with no sink-backs... The job was done 5 years ago so major issues should have shown up by now.... Interior: *Autotechnica bucket seats with ADR number - Good looking but not that comfy... I got the original seats as well *MONZA 3 point harnesses with ADR number - again OK but not that good for a daily driver. *Re-covered dash *new carpets - tunnel not done Major issues: I need to engineer the engine. I have spoken to an engineer and he has basically said, make it quieter (has a stoopidly loud exhaust - i'd arrest me) and plumb the BOV back (i would anyway)... It does not have a heater core - planning on fitting an aftermarket aircon system... It does not have a radio - have one at home just need to fit I would like to re-cover the centre console and sound deaden the interior... I will keep people appraised as I progress with the build and truly look forward to coming out and driving around with everyone.
  21. Interested in heater/air con unit if you have one in good nick.

  23. Howdy everyone! My names Thomas, long time Nissan fan. Currently I own a r33 Gtst Skyline, however I have decided upon a change Trolling through the classifieds and carpoint I have set my sites on a lovely 1973 240z with a dark green metalic paint job. It has Sparco wheels and a turbo L28 engine I was wondering though, as I am new to zeds, would anyone be able to come and do a second inspection of the car I am after with me? Its located in Thornleigh NSW. I have quite an extensive history in building cars (worked in a professional resto shop for 3 years) and have been into mini's for a very long time... But as all marques have querks it would be nice to have someone with the knowledge of it to point out any major pitfalls... Thanks guys, look forward to coming out on some adventures in my zed
