  1. We are different people and 44014 is a dirty 260Z owner and I've got a 240Z. The improvements are very subjective. They made them progressively heavier and slower and that for the enthusiasts less desirable, opposed to new buyers who want all the latest mod-cons. No one was trying to put 500hp RBs in them back in those days, or even L28s for that matter so the stiffer body probably didn't come into it and that preference has been carried along through time. I think the raft of minor points listed in this thread culminate to just generally making 260Zs less desirable. Just because something is rarer doesn't necessarily correlate to it being more desirable or make up for all the small points.
  2. From my research, they have been listed at pretty equal values lately. Look at this car, it's one of two on car sales at the moment. This car isn't finished to a high level and they want $50k for it. https://www.carsales.com.au/private/details/Datsun-260Z-1974/SSE-AD-5106445/?Cr=1 Those two 260Zs are priced right smack in in the middle point of the 240Zs for sale. Boyblunda, did you cut and paste that spiel from somewhere? I'm pretty sure we are all up on the differences...
  3. Just clear park lights. I'm pretty sure that '73 was the only year to get the orange dangle berries off the front bumper.
  4. The 240Z dash and taillights look better?
  5. Yes that was the intention. I just bought a 260Z that has a retro sound radio with an RX3 face plate, but no Z fascia, so I thought i would make one or adapt the triple gauge fascia plate I make for the 240Z.
  6. It's got 280ZX bonnet vents cut into the 240Z bonnet by the looks and those indicators are spot on for a '73. My '73 is just like this one when i bought it.
  7. Hi Guys, Could someone with a standard 260Z radio fascia please trace around the outside of it and put some measurements on it and upload it here? I think this would be a great reference for everyone. I can do it for a 240Z too if anyone wants.
  8. The motor isn't worth $4k you can pick up a 1jz for $1500 everyday of the week. We don't know what type of 6 speed it is. And at the end of the day how many people want to put a 1jz in an S30 these days?
  9. Agree ^^
  10. Not 40 years old. I pulled the stock one off my L24 and found a massive crack coming from the key way.
  11. I don't know why everyone keeps carrying on about how hard that car would be to register. I bet that most cars on here that are modified are a) not engineered and b) do not comply with all the ADRs they need to. Are you planning on taking it to K-mart tyre & auto to get a roadworthy?
  12. $15 - $20k, what 6 speed box are you using? they only come with a 5 speed or if you are referring to a supra 6 speed add another $4k to the figures.
  13. Ok should be fine then if you are using circlip type no problem with a tap.
  14. Sorry guys sold pending payment
  15. Yeah it's fine to hit them in with a rubber mallet but I thought the early zed R180 shafts don't work with the later K doff
  16. They have been fitted to a car but never driven on. Car ended up getting coilovers instead.
  17. Hi Guys, Up for sale is a set of Yellow Konis (Z31 part number) with low king springs for a 260Z. They are located in Brisbane and i'm chasing $700 for the lot. I have a couple of the adjusting knobs that go with them too.
  18. For the record i agree with you haha.
  19. Just shows you arebt a real Datsun fan Gill!
  20. There are definitely certain people on this forum that would restore that car, seller's intention or not!
  21. Wow you would have to be keen to take on that, I guess if it is an HS30H that might be it's only saving grace, but again you would have to be super keen.
  22. Owen owns the car now he is probably the man to answer your question
  23. Back in my day you didn't go to a flog shop with your bonnet...
  24. Just buy up all the original ones and slowly release them to the market like De Beers and diamonds! I'm glad i paid $120 for my long stalk S30 fender mirrors back in 2010. I bought them from the US ironically.
