  1. Hey Mark, I think you meant "diode" instead of "resistor". Just in case anyone else gets it confused!
  2. Re: Black fuzzy wuzzy spiders Hahahaha that made me laugh! Long live those mysterious spiders!
  3. What an excellent read! well done
  4. Physical size of the alternator. (If you can find out the make even better) Thanks again
  5. When cranking the engine, coil gets a full 12V (stonger spark to help start), while running coil only runs on approx 9V like Steve said to prevent point meltdown.
  6. Loui, try to contact Ray Bell for the shocks; that's where I got them from. Email is r(at)ybell.net Someone told me they have tried but with no luck. See how you go.
  7. If the image is bigger than 256Kb, it wont let you.
  8. Sorry it took a bit of time, hope it explains it better. It's an older pic but not much has changed.
  9. Very nice...wheels suit it very well. Who make them? they look like a 17" x 7?
  10. Welcome Wade, As you know you will have to post up pics of your zed; it is mandatory!!
  11. Depends on the amount of camber it increases.. With the lower adjustable arms I have, I'm running about 3.5' of negative and it's on the limit of the tie rod ends. What you can do is use tie rods off a series 2 280ZX? (I think) but they are both right handed threads so you will have to replace one of your 240Z left hand thread rack ends for another right hand thread end off another rack and use the 280ZX rod ends. I might reduce my camber a tad!
  12. Believe me, I'd prefer that mustard colour over that horrid "peachy" colour some WRX's came in. Friend of mine with that RHD converted 240Z had his car painted in that mustard and it looks great.
  13. Welcome... Love the colour of your Celica there.. Friend had a TA22 but the main problem was rust all along the sills! Had a nice twin cam with Webbers; went well but shame about the body!
  14. He stated in the ad he's open to offers; make him one he can't refuse!
  15. Sounds good! But 12.8:1 compression... it's a shame Avgas isn't as easy to get a hold of like before..drive up to the bowser and fill up. Would love to see a video of your zed running around.
  16. Don't feel too bad, I paid $12K for my 240Z a few years ago and it still needs plenty of detail work. I've yet to see my gauges light up at night! The only one that works is the clock. Got a few other things to do before I tackle that..
  17. If you don't have a speedo, the early ones start at 20mph+ and they come up on ebay from time to time. Any early or really any 240Z is worth restoring.. at $400, it's worth while stripping to a bare shell and place it on a rotisserie. Re-paint/zinc components and you'll end up with a killer zed! If I had the cash and time, I'd find another zed to rebuild..
  18. Do you know if they are the larger size or the smaller ones? Compared to a standard 240Z one.. I'm after the smaller sized ones. Thanks
  19. Master cylinder and alternator are still avail? There's no rust! I can see the holes where the rust was...
  20. Another way that may work is to remove the rectangular trim on the hatch and remove the spring clip that holds the lock in place with a large flat blade screwdriver..
  21. I just used the alloy radiator I had made for the L series engine; just had to mod the plumbing for the top hose. Lower hose went on without needing any mods. It cost around $600 a few years ago now.. Race radiators in Dandenong Vic.
  22. Only real way to tell if it was from a 260Z is to count the first gear ratio; 2.9:1 for a 260Z and 3.2:1 for a 280ZX gearbox. I was told about that filler plug thing from Rob/Warren at Z Factory quite a few years ago. Housings can be changed but first gear ratio's are specific to their model. If you still have the original 3.7 rear diff and first seems real quick and short, it has to be a 280ZX gearbox.
  23. That's the same seller who stocks R200 longnose LSD's from early Skylines etc.. Just send a question if you need one. Avg price was $990.
  24. Easy way to check, if the filler plug is on the right, opposite side of where the exhaust usually runs next to it, it's a 260 box. Even better if you can put it in 1st gear, rotate the output once and count the number of roatations of the input shaft. If it turns almost 3 times (2.9) def a 260Z gearbox. Sometimes may have a 260Z housing, but different internals.
  25. Ben, you know how to make people jealous....that's evil!
