  1. Hey RBZ260 what kind of spares do you have, i have a mate that might be interested in them if you are willing to post to Melbourne
  2. Well i sanded everything back even the color coats and will try again. Wasnt to happy with the color that came out (dull, could be the actual color or could even be the cold weather). So gonna try everything again when its a bit warmer or when i go and buy some of those lamps. I was curious to see how it would turn out in its previous state so i sanded with 1200grit paper and cut and polished it and it came out alright. Rev recommended that i leave the clearcoat to completely dry for a week before i cut and polish it. So that is what i'll be doing next time. I'm actually enjoying it and learning from my mistakes so thats good, dont really much like the prep work ie. sanding but its all worth it when you put a fresh coat of paint
  3. I went to spray the clear coat yesterday and this is what has happened when i looked this morning... Thanks
  4. If your willing to go overseas i know that Eiji at datsunspirit sells kits last time i checked it was 400USD+postage
  5. ill get some pics when i get the car all cleaned up and im still waiting on my wheels to get here after that ill post up some proper pics.
  6. hmm i need to find someone with a welder then...needs to be done right the first time around. I was worried about the cold aswell so i took them inside to dry because its warm and figured it would dry better, didnt help though. How is fiberglass for covering the hole? any good
  7. Thanks... i'll get some practice when i try to fill up the hole from the old mirror. Should i weld it or just bog it up

  9. I have the same issue with mine, its the front mount yeah? i read that it can be very expensive because they wear away so quickly.
  10. Haha thank Mark first time i painted something that looks nice Maybe now i can have another go at that panel lol its still not fixed and hopefully Rev. Dave can paint it for me as im not very good at meshing the colors (if thats what you call it) Your block looks alright to me, i dont know how you polish stuff so well mate, im scared im going to leave marks all over my work piece even with super fine paper.
  11. I dont either but being such a small thing i didnt mind. What was worse was waiting for things to dry. Well i finished them i got them all nice and what not, then i went to fit them once finished i saw that i had left fingerprints on it, tried to wipe it off just made it worse by smudging it, mind you the mirrors were drying since Sunday arvo. Since i spent so much time prepping i didnt feel right just leaving them like that. So i adjusted them sanded them down and applied another final coat. Below is the result, looks alot better than when i received them
  12. Do i sand the last coat if so with what grit? Right now im spraying the black top coat and sanding it with 800grit done 3 coats so far and was planning on doing 4.
  13. thanks guys, i'll be working on them tomorrow after work or sunday, keep u updated. Cant wait to get them on the car
  14. I just recieved my set in the mail today, and they are not in the best condition, they are ok but not great. Anyway what can i do to make them look like new again. I was thinking of just spraying them with a satin black pressure pack can. The thing is im not the best when it comes to preping for paint. i have dismantled it so i can spray every part separately. I have a can of spray putty from supercheap, what number sand paper do i use. When ever i sand i leave marks on the surface like where the grains are. Also is there a special brand paint i could use that lasts longer than others, like the supercheap ones dont last very long. Sorry for the camera phone photos
  15. Seriously i said 15 that they said ok, this was in December 07' thinking of increasing the agreed value...Only thing im worried about GIO is im pretty sure they have their own shops to do repairs and such. I'd rather use someone i'd trust with a zed, Shannons works like this yes? Im still too young to use Shannons as an insurer though.
  16. i think he is with GIO like me. $380 per year insured for 15K with salvage option.
  17. I LOL'd
  18. That hakosuka is nice read the build up lot of work...any is that the only one in Aus, dont see them too often would love to own one
  19. hmmm good luck with the sale mate, was a real shame you had to let go of the 240. I cant wait for my pair to come down Put them on the ae86DC forum they'd go quick than they'd go here.
  20. Hey mate first of all welcome, this forum is truly gold and any questions you might have on the zeds you will definitely find an answer on this forum. Secondly hows the parts situation for zeds over in Malaysia? My brother is heading up that way in a couple weeks, and i was chasing a pair of fender mirrors for my zed and was wondering if he can find them without too much trouble.
