  1. Hey guys Im trying to come up with some ideas to connect a chock onto my dellortos. Reason being they are very hard to get started in the morning, Im in the process of cleaning and running new kits through them, 2 down 1 to go. Hopefully this will help with the cold starting. If you could post up some pics on your set up that would be cool, i want to keep the setup as neat as possible. Thanks Sach
  2. I went to see my mechanic today. And he fixed everything . The issues: - Not enough compression in 5 cylinders - One of the plugs was wet - The car has the wrong type of coil, not meant for points he said. Something about current and voltage being halved ???no idea. But its the correct coil for electronic ignition. - re tuned the carbs but said he cant tune it properly, so he said to run kits through them and to clean them up a bit. Thanks for all your help.   3. My old mans a customs broker, he told me anything under 1k you can bring in without any hassles. If its over 1k he told me to tell the seller to put the year and make of the car in the item description, because if i can recall correctly, anything over 30 years old you dont have to pay duty on but you still have to pay gst. Still better than paying both
  4. Thanks for the input I checked the resistance in the wires, they were around 9 for the short ones and 11 for the longer ones. These figures are apparently correct according to topgun's website. I will have to clean out the jets tomorrow. I will post some pics of my rotor and cap because i do not know what im looking for. And will check the resistance in the coil and reset the gap if needed.   5. Okay i swapped the plugs with the good cylinders but still nothing. I tried removing the pump jets but its seems to be stuck and i dont want to pull too hard coz the powertune book says they are very easy to ruin. and finally there is a spark on all cylinders although its an orange spark. Shouldn't it be blue?
  6. I have checked the firing order, i dont know how old the leads and cap are as i only bought the car a couple months ago. Still using stock mechanical pump and havent tested fuel pressure. They were off for a couple of days, say took the off thursday and put them back on the following wednesday. I did not chage any of the settings or mix up the carbs ie. put them back in the same order, front middle and rear. I did clean the carb body with crc carby clean, might have dislodged some dirt or something. Replaced the soft mounts as well I cant see the spark, but can hear the faint tick tick tick. No i haven't, will try it I will clean the jets. Thanks guys
  7. G'day all, I recently put in a new manifold for the triples, but now i the engine is only running of 3 cylinders. Circled plugs are not firing. Also when i press down the accelerator, fuel leaks out of one of the pump jet screw covers (circled in picture). Close up view. What im thinking there is no fuel going into cylinders 3 and 4 but dont know why number 6 doesnt fire because number 5 fires fine. It could be ignition also, so im converting to electronic ignition. Still deciding on the Crane XR700 and the XR3000. Thanks guys Looking forward to hear you thoughts. Sach

There a bargain aswell (well i think so anyway), been on the 86 forums trying to find some ssr's or work mesh's For a pair of mesh's the asking price is around $800, these are $480 from memory for a set. There coming from Canada and the guy quoted me 100$ per wheel, just trying to find a cheaper way of bringing these down, if anyone can help or knows of a good cheap courier (if they exist) please let me know.   12. im looking at some rims, they have abit of surface rust *said in post* but dont know for sure. I just want to know if i can get these puppies looking like new with my trusty tube of autosol or will it need to be professionally done. Dont know if there are any scratches and how deep they would be, im really taking a gamble as they are coming from overseas. 4x114.3 14x6.5J with 2.25 inch lip, offset 10 (Front) 14x7J with 2.50 inch lip, offset 6 (Rear) i also think the widths are too small, was looking at more 7 for the front and 7.5 or 8 for the rear.

  17. Thanks Glen, i'll definitely keep it in mind, im not yet sure if its the fuel pump or if the filter is clogged. If it is the fuel pump i was thinking to a an electric one, because the factory mechanical pump i dont think can cut it with the triple dellortos. Cheers
  18. My mech pump shit itself today i think its the pump (tested it no fuel to the carbs), had a half tank petrol. It might be the filter or the pump not to sure or theres a block. Was running fine Saturday but couldnt start it this morning. Any ideas please i need a car and my lancer also shit itself wont start either. Just my luck... Repco said 170 for new mech pump but i seen this http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/PFFC05/11-3072 Could i fit this in the engine bay or do electric pumps need to be next to the tank...   20. I would love to build a zed EV, got inspired after seeing the 'white zombie' munching pretty much anything in a 1/4 mile. If i get the opportunity to build one in my final year of uni (2009) i'll definetly take it. Been doing a bit of research on it and takes quite a bit of $$$.
  21. I would like to know also, what is the diameter of the stock 240 steering wheel? Want to upgrade my aftermarket steering wheel (smaller diameter), to one that is roughly the same diameter as the factory one. Cheers Sach
