+1 for very neat and tidy. also, +10 for seeing how the plastic weld goes. I am looking @ removing the sliding door from the ash trya altogether, and putting a cup holer as well, but by building one into the bottomg of the console suing plstic weld. Perhaps cutting ont out of a consol @ pick and paymore?

Dynamat is the god stuff, and the cheaper you can get it the better. This is one where i would not settle for a cheaper knockoff. the ryda product looks genuine, not so sure abut the ebay variant. the cheaper one will use other materials, that will either be heavier, or wont deaden the sound as much. All i can say is do the research before you jump in, it is definitely one of those jobs you do not want to have to do twice.

I love my zed, and when its running i do drive it daily.... Doing so causes a decent maintenance bill, due to the age of the car. its not a museum piece, but its not a commuter car either. but my knickers... I have not tied them in a knot about it. And I do drive a different car. women may come in droves.. (they dont) men do envy me.... but thats got nothing to do with the car. and kids dont aspire to be me.... but i doubt drivign a zed...or a porshe, or a ferrari, or any other car would change that, im cool because I am, and Im sure everyone on here is cool just cause they are as well.... but if ur a deushe.... ur car is not going to change ur deushe factor.... fact of life. a twit will always be a twit.... a twit in a nice car is compensating. My missus has a N15 SSS, great car, dont buy an auto though they get beaten by STA buses. Manual ones on the other hand are quite nippy. My vote still goes the Scooby

I have a 1990 BMW E30 318is Its a piece o ..... but ti works, and it gets me around My vote goes to a Subaru WRX in a 99/00/01 model you get a reliable car, manual, bit of fun to drive, good brakes to pull up in traffic when cut off by unmentionable randoms, and all whell drive to miss that twit stepping off the footpath *insert other situation* 5 seats, and a wagon/hatchback if you want it, and the average cost is about the $10-12k mark. Couple of friends have them, and there is not a huge amount you need to watch for on them. You need to watch the gearboxes for noise, as a sign of thrashing but the gearboxes are strong, and the diffs need to be not weeping (another sign of the AWD drivetrain having the big one given to it. other than that, strong motor, interior thats hard to damage, agressive stance and room for everyone plus a few bags or whatever you bought from bunnings for the Z

yep, thats the original sound deadening I think it goes hard from a combination of age, heat and the glue they use to put the vinyl in.

hahaha, I HAD a running Z until recently, and its now off again. you guys always catch me when its not in one piece!

true, limited money is a restricting factor but surely there was a forum member for the classic JDM forum, AUSZCAR, toymods, etc etc for the other classic japanese forums that could have put up a free post innovative free advertising still counts not having a go, but tiny things like that can make a massive turn-out difference

Dynamat is brilliant stuff. Most sound deadeners will do similar jobs, but dynamat has the best sound cutting properties, not too sure on the weight yet. I put a very thin layer of foam under mine as well, not sure if this is the done t hing, but it makes the vinyl that much softer, and "nice" inside the cabin, not to mention where there is a fitting, like the handbrake, or the tunnel console, the vinyl gets that "thick rich leather tuck" effect. not everyones taste, but it made my interior quiet, and a touch more plush than factory, without getting to ridunkulous

So do we have a date yet? Zed is still in pieces but I will come out and "try" to kleep up in my BMW runabout

Having a fail week Not specifically about cars, but this is arant about when you make a plan, and then every man and his dog and ur other half comes in and makes their changes. Mum wants to know how to use the right click, dad wants his lawn mowed, the girlfriend wants to be taken out for lunch, all in a saturday. My plan was simple. Mow my own lawn and put my dang engine in my dang car! So sunday rolls around, awesome, no plans, everything completed quickly and friendly-style yesterday, and here we go i can get onto my exhaust system. wait, no, gotta fix all the flyscreens round the house, (involving 3 trips to bunnings) maybe we could go for a coffee dear? also i was wondering if you could help me with these images I have, also... can you clean up the garage, i never go in there but it looks messy. neighbour comes over... Hi, its 3pm on a sunday afternoon and I notice that grinder is making an awful lot of noise. (all doors to garage shut, garage on other side of property to his house.) AHHHHH so much fail occured this weekend passed. oldzman makes a good point, and even the moisture in the air is enough to start it off. need to be very careful with welding, the bits you cant get to can be the source of the rust as well.

hey Johnny, the fuel systewm you were running/i am notw running, will that work right to the bottom of the tank, or do i also have to keep my tank above 1/4 full? dave

Hi, for more information, search posts about r200 and my username, I have asked this question recently and got some great help. $300 is pretty cheap, but if its an open diff, and an un-useable set of shafts and brakes its an expensive paperweight. r200 i found in the original diff, can take the aftermarket LSD centres as well. you are going to be forced to spend the same amount for the aftermarket centre, so why throw away a perfectly ood shell you already have (I assume) Brakes, I bought MSA type one kit www.thezstore.com.au they are expensive, but they stop the car very very .... very well, and its a no mess no fuss meccano set bolt together. couple that with some springs/shocks (i used tokico illumina - damper adjustables) and you get a car thats about 1.5" lower than standard, with great turning, stopping and (with the diff) drivability. Mine has never let me down with these parts, and im about .5 to 1 seconds slower than an S15 with 240kw (approx) around eastern creek, on a carby motor! turning and brakinh power... for the win

yeah cool, thus far, we have the motor in, the wiring thru the firewall, and in a birds nest in the footwell, new rad is mounted. and thats about it, still on the search for a diff, and havent had the tail shaft altered for the 2 seater yet, but its on the way., so rest assured, the pics and wreiteup will be here soon

No worries mate I'll get it sorted, the engine is in the car, had a lack of storage space so we shoe-horned it in there quick smart. Currently working through the loom and tidying it, and poking it where its supposed to go. What boost controller were you running? and I cant find the one that was included, the retro style one. It goes well you left a hell of a lot of stuff in the loom there johnny, were you running all the goods? climate control, power windows central locking etc etc etc? We cranked the motor last night, it started, popped farted and died, which is to be expected with no vacuum connected up and poor grounding, but it cranks and will run which is good for those of you who dont know what im talking about, well i suppose you will just have to wait to see the write up haha
