  1. Hi, I was wondering where to find out about events like the one mentioned in Scando's Build project (on the last page) http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,2662.255.html Is there a website that just lists all of these smaller type events? only thing I know how to get to is my local track day.
  2. the black modern, and that answers my question. i will be in touch once I ask the financial testicular controller for permission
  3. +1 stevo_gj civillity towards one another will beget more detailed answers when you are in a spot of bother re what part fores where and what do I do with the extra bolts i probably should have extra ... I know for sure my car would be a rolling fail, half completed and ziptied back together due to lack of mechanical knowledge from myself without the help of other forum members along the way. Just gotta ask nicely
  4. i like that last yellow one of yours sexual_sushi here is one i used for my final portfolio, shot @ night in pitch black using a torch RB30x what camera did you buy, with a mode like that in it my first guess would go to olympus? unless you are in the photoshop book as well to get the effect.
  5. frieght qwould be the more expensive bit, oversized item and all that. 20 sounds reasonable, depending on freight comany maybe 30.
  6. Rooster eyed, well that would be the forum using its anti swear mechanism to change the word eye used, whcih is created by using the formula slang for male genitalia, OR A CHICKEN-eyed - im sure you all get it now. For toe in/out, I bought these fitting from Allz spared in Hornsby, it is the control arm mount bushing (fron and rear on the inside of the car) its round, but drilled through offcentre, so depending on the angle at which you position them you will change the angle of the control arm. You have on on the front and one on the back, so you can adjust them evenly to control camber, or one differently to the other to angle the control arm, thereby changing the toe. got no idea how much they cost it was a while ago and i dont have the receipt with me. The are sandwiched in by the control arm end bolts, so they cant move again (unless u collect a gutter and jay it) but then you have bigger issues. There is a pic below i have hastily drawn. The one downside is when getting a wheel alignment, you have alot of dicking about to do on a 4 post hoist, to undo and adjust and do back up, until its happy. sometimes (depending on ur wheel aligner) this causes crankiness and extra money to be required.
  7. so, this kit you will have similar, for much less money.... when will you have it? and how much less money, and can i have one please..
  8. i like the hillclimb photos, is the hillclimb a regular event? def soemthing i would be interested in
  9. yup, welcome to engine swapping. The thing I found out was that after heaps of looking about, research, asking the questions etc etc, is that you should look at it on face value. Do you want the RB motor, more modern, more potential for power, probably easier to get parts Do you want the Z motor, Wangan midnight styling () more agressive sound, decent power, still origial ZED gear They are both going to cost you a potload of do-rey-mi, so just consider the cost of the obvious, aka the motor and the computer, and take the incidentals as they come. none of this stuff is a one trip up the shop and pick up the spanners. I learnt that after proudly saying, my zed will be done in 2 weeks, no sweat, its easy stuff etc etc. 6 months later I was driving it again, for a total of 3 months before the bug to change the motor bit, and now 4 months after taking it off the road, im nearly back in a driving position.
  10. the r 200, does that make it long or short nosed? what ratio? what is req'd to fix a chipped crown wheel?
  11. garvice, we should write a book on the average length of string, and its uses in measuring in all walks of life hahah meanwhile, im off to check out what you still have for sale.
  12. I had another look. you have yellow, and black in one clip, and green in another. my fuel wiring is a bit all over the shop due to a number of people having a swing at rewiring it. you will find that the black one in the clip is ground, meaning it takes it's ground from the rest of the harness (back @ the alternator) yellow and gerrn will be main power and.... (im lost on the second wire)
  13. this forum teaches me something new every day. the 240z and the 260z are different lengths mount to mount tho, so using one of each will put your car a little cockeyed in the back end
  14. any other viewpoints? how long is a piece of string haha every man and his dog has a different way they like their Z's You can get a computer from anywhere between 800ish used and 2500 brand new top end business somewhere in the 1000 and a bit above seems reasonable. You dont need the massive anmount of adjustment the top end ECU's offer, designed more for the highly strung RB26/2JZ etc etc with the latest and greatest in everything that pops, whistles bangs and adjusts electronically depending on your mood and eye colour....
  15. mines a 74 260z coupe, build number 1064, so i dunno if thats considered late or early, but 74 was still an S30, and 74 was the first that was badged 260 with the larger motor...
  16. i found the best place to get answers to this was the tyre place itself. there is no real way to tell if its going to scrub etc, some baseline figures can be set down, but mine dont scrub with me and my missus, but me plus a mate, well then the rears do start to scrub a bit on cornering. weight/spring age/condition/type etc etc, all contributes to one big unknown....
  17. now you'll have to excuse my ignorance, but G stands for "green" in that diagram doesnt it? GR - Greed with red stripe and so on?? black is ur ground AFAIK..... and if i recall coffectly mine was attached just near where the fuel filler travels from the guard into the tank....
  18. I also did extensive searching on the topic, and i ended up going for an L28et. I have the same requirements as you, smooth driving, not monster power, etc etc. I went for the conversion to EFI turbo because - Parts are not impossible to get, there is no change to the mount. - Any turbo from a T3 flange will fit, leaving you with VL turbo set ups, pretty much all of the GT28 series from Garrett, and some Rotary turbos. - The only custom parts are intercooler + piping, and exhaust (and obviously wiring.) 260z had a return fuel line, so its a case of upgrading ur pump (and possibly a surge tank), and if you hunt around you can get injectors without too much fuss. Last thing I have come up against so far, is the computer to manage it all. original L28 efi computers were not programmable (i think its called analogue) so you have to find a computer, Haltech and Wolf seem to be the more used ones by Z people I have asked, but i havent done much research on the computer yet. Not i cant remember who has it, but there is a green beast w black bonnet floating about on here, he will be able to fill in the gaps.
  19. Hey mate, I see the difference you have there, and I also had that on mine. My wrecker in sydney told me it could be a dodgy crash fix-up, but now that it is on 2 unrelated parts it may not be. The correct "style" is the silver one, with the rims of steel running around the car, not just welded to it like the more surface rusted item in ur pic. If you measure from "diff side mount" to "wheel side mount" on each one, you will find one to me about 5-10mm shorter from hole centre to hole centre on the surface rusted one. I dunno if one is dodged up, or if its just a different way of them being made, but the silver one of the 2 is the stronger design, AND, 2 of those is what is on most cars AFAIK. i went back and swapped mine for 2 of the silver coloured style you have. Cheers Dave
  20. other thing for the colour is obviously every screen differs slightly, on my screen, it looks pretty close tot he original colour
  21. i went back to the wrecker twice with the upside down thing, made me look like a twerp when i took them in and said look, one is upside down!!! funnily enough i have a small model at home 1:16th scale, and on the underside it depicts one upside down... was impressed with the accuracy but i digress
  22. i printed and read that piece on hybridz.org, very interesting reading... make sure your car is not leaking fuel as well, I had a problem that I thought was fumes, but it was actually a few drips escaping from a cracked fuel tank vent pipe. didnt find out til i got pulled over, and told that i was dripping from around the diff area.....
  23. isnt that the head that ben zed from otomoto is building/going to build/something along those lines?
