Hey George, I don't have a portfolio online, but I do have some shots I did at the Eastern Creek Round of Drift Australia on my facebook page. Apart from that I will have a few of my images on show while we are there. Cheers Dave

Could you put this motor in a 240z?? what you think
herrods replied to mrp69's topic in General Discussions
wouldn't you be better off, and still carrying most of your money, to go the V8 out of a lexus? This would have more torque, but less power, and more possibility for mod and ease of part access for repairs. also these run a 6 bolt main, and are happy to accept boost, which means later TT is not out of the question. I think there are easier ways to get the same amount of power/torque etc without breaking the bank, and without getting so far up a niche market u find yourself on the creek without a paddle to go search for that new part u need. Lastly, with a lexus V8 you could use a supra, or maybe skyline gearbox, and the bellhousing will not need customising, more dosh down the drain spent attaching a gearbox to that motor. -

Arizona Z Car - Rear Brake Handbrake Redesign
herrods replied to Woza01's topic in Brakes / Drivetrain Components
mm indeed, if you read his FAQ page, he gets a bit shirty at the mention of a handbrake, like "use a brick" Im sure it has been covered more than once before, but what would happen if you used his front brake upgrade, and then a conversion to disc via 280zx/300zx parts. You could of course then upgrade the rear brakes like they were still on the original car with cross drilled/slotted etc... -
Arizona Z Car - Rear Brake Handbrake Redesign
herrods replied to Woza01's topic in Brakes / Drivetrain Components
sorry to sound a bit less than intelligent, but I will also be ordering the brake upgrade, and was wondering what is wrong with using the hydraulic lock as halfway down the page (http://www.arizonazcar.com/brake.html) ($29 US) -
Hey, Im not sure if this is exactly tyhe same, but it looks like a modified version of the MSA type II kit on www.thezstore.com Go to the early z car homepage, then accessories, then body kits and styling, 70-78 coupe bodykits, and its in there. Thats where I am getting my MSA type III kit from. No guarantees but I think thats what it is

so regarding using an illuminated needle from a newer car, can it be done? whats involved? I pulled the guages apart on my last car, an s15 spec R, to see if i could change the colour of the bulbs and I ended up accidentally moving the guage range of my temp guage up, so that a middle/normal reading was 3/4 to the red, and if it had overheated it would have shown up off the guage chart. SO therefore I am wary about trying it again...

Aye, loss is definitely no good, so we will have to organise another meet soon for all of the people (like me) who couldn't make it for one reason or another. sounds like we have some hot cars in the sydney region. One thing I would really like to see is those who have built, telling others how to build. One ting I have noticed is that there are heaps of general things about conversions, but nobody has taken the time to go step 1: undo this bolt right through to step 112: turn on your new v8/RB/SR beast. I know i certainly will be documenting my build with a fine tooth comb, mainly so i can go back and find out where i went wrong when it won't start at the end lol Cheers Herrods

Hey all, I'll be there as well. Where are we driving to? by the time everyone meets and etc we will be too late for WSID. I suggest we drive a good road or something, up my way its the old pacific highway, or galston gorge, or berowra waters road, but I'm not sure what is local to burwood. My suggestion is Old pacific highway to brooklyn or something.

Hi All, I'm sorry about the HUGE delay on pics of these seats, hard to believe, but I misplaced them, with the help of my parents, who manage to "rearrange" everything I leave for storage in their garage to a totally different location. but anyway, here are a couple of photos Cheers

Hi All, As I have posted earlier, I have a 74 260z with a L26 bored to 2.9L Here is my thought of the moment, wondering if i coud get some experienced advice. I want to get a touch more power, and a more free revving engine. At the moment I'm running twin SU carbs, lumpier cam. And I'm thinking a P90 or similar head, EFI using 280z(x) parts and turbo from similar. What I want to know is what sort of issues will I run into, any reccommendations on type of turbo, where to get parts (what cars) and whether or not my L26 engine will work, or if i need a L28. Cheers Dave

Cheers

thanks to all responses, very helpful. how would I go about finding my static CR? i spose i wld need a compression test huh. What gearbox will withstand this beating? sombody compare the pair betweent he RB20DET and the L28 turbo, ease of installation/parts sourcing? power ability

Hey all, I am now the proud owner of a 1974 Datsun 260z, bought it out of canberra, bright yellow, spied it on carsales, had it for about 2 weeks now. The previous owner told me that the L28 motor, (installed in the car) came out as a carby, EFI and EFI turbo. I want to make my L28 an EFI turbo L28. Currently, the car has an L28 bored out to 2.9L, Waggot stage C cam, and is mated to a 5 spd close ratio box (OEM from one of the Z's) with a standard clutch/flywheel assy. What is involved in making the jump from carby, to EFI turbo? I assume a change in compression, but do the intake/exhaust manifolds mate up? is there a need for aftermarket computing or will an 280zx turbo computer do it, whats easier to get a hold of? where does one find these parts, and what am I looking at for longevity of the gearbox/rest of drive train, (it was rebuilt 10 000km ago.) If you need more info than that to help me, i can give it, (last owner has a small encylopaedia of all the things he ever did) but other than that, yeah... discuss this option with me or shut me down if im being a noob, ur call
-
Thanx for the info. I have been thinking over the many options available, and I was thinking about the L28 motor. Bear with me while I theorize for a second, and of course feel free to correct me if I start talking crazy. If one was to bore/stroke the fuel injected L28 to a 2.9L, have one with electronic injection, use forged internals and piston sleeves, and fill the block in as a closed deck (assuming it is open or semi open at present) and then set up the appropriate amount of compression for turbo use. Upgraded crank /cam(s) After this, use a custom exhaust manifold to use twin turbo, or large single turbo, and a RB26 intake manifold, bigger injectors/reg/fuel system to match, and the appropriate computer to manage it. would you then not have a L-RB-29DET(T), and would this creat as much torque or power as a reasonably modified R26DETT? am i Crazy? shooting to high in the sky? is this old news?

interesting site, notrealy in order tho, but i spose thats just me being picky, looks like it will be a powerful beast. has anyone got an idea of what all that might cost parts wise? Im referring mainly to the custom mounts and crossmembers, not the engine/box/ancillaries/computer
-
open to swap plus cash, depending on what you got etc, yeah i realised that I was looking at a 2 seater and assued it was actually 2+2 dunno if u being serious or not, so what have u got, and what u prepared to offer me for a swap?
-
gday all, I am about to buy a 1971 260z 2+2, and before I do so, I want to know what the deal is with swapping in a black top SR20, or a R33 GTST engine and box. But I'm a little lost (even after using the search button) as to what exactly needs to happen for each of these engines to go into my ride and toy. What parts will i need from the donor car? (S15 or a R33 GTST) depending on motor. What parts will I need to keep from the 260z? What parts will I need to source from totally different cars? What parts will have to be made custom? What driveline will need to be used to fit either the S15 6 speed, of R33 5 speed in? What ballpark figure are we looking at for hours of labour? What potential headaches am I going to run into? Is there something a bit better to be putting in there? What is the the deal with aftermarket things like coilovers like? what is the av availability/range of period and "modern" bodykits like? I would consider going V8, but I like the nissan engines a bit more. I want the car as basically a daily driver, for street, track and a little bit of drifting use. if anyone can help me out with this, would really appreciate it.
