I'm local to simon and i've seen and been driven in his car he's done all the right things with this car His work and attention to detail are Top Notch. I went view his car before he took delivery and the gentleman said he could have sold it a Dozen times plus all Simon's work has been documented here.
This is a great car if you want to just get in and drive it or an excellent base for modification (i like a good set of triples myself). Can't go wrong with this one.
Not too long ago the flexplate came loose on my L26 and it rattled when revving it and when decelleration. But it echoed through the entire motor and sounded like it was coming from the top.
Well that's probably changed now, i'll have to order one so Rev can keep his minions fed.... Oh wait.. thats the other guy who has minions, dave has followers
Hey Sunshine thanks for the mention.
I changed the conrod bearings with the engine in the car so it can be done. The sump will come off no problem but the second piston is a bit of a pain to get to as the crossmember is in the way (just). The only problem is that you'll be in and out of the underneath of the car and also the torque settings could be a bit tricky. Check and make sure the pistons (both sets) are the same and neither is oversize too.
This would be the one.

I was just looking at one last week. About $440 Aussie to get one here ATM.
I'm sure many will have helpful suggestions from here. You can loosen the sump and leave just the rear bolts in place (loose) to avoid having to replace the sump gasket but the sump can be removed without taking out the engine. Clean surfaces are vital on the timing cover and a dob of sump gasket goo on the four corners (where the top of the block meets the head and the sump meets the block)
Also make sure you don't catch the Head Gasket as you refit the timing cover.
This is all so much easier to do with the engine out of the car but it can be done while in the car just make sure you have a clear day to do it.
Do you have a manual?
Oh and check the timing cover for corrosion too.
Be sure to look at both sides of the dipstick as only one side will give the correct reading. The correct side will have a defined line and the other side will be smeared.
Far out, go get a Lottery ticket now. So the bolts have come loose. Looks like get the whole lot and replace. Can be done while still in the car but it's a pain.
Looks like the passenger side hey. Someone told me that you can't rotate these mirrors to change sides without breaking the glass but Dale's one will do a complete 360!!!
