  1. That's good feedback, thanks.
  2. The 50k cars you speak of are generally the better end of the spectrum, often with serious $$$ spent on restoration. To put it bluntly a LHD car just won't suit the majority of people when they have the option of RHD. Probably not even me, and I have a LHD Mustang. Despite Zeds being built in both LHD and RHD form there's still a fair bit of work and time and expense converting from one to the other, it's not that straightforward, I looked into it a few years ago when I discovered that a contact had a tidy non-rusty 240Z sitting in his LA yard. It all comes down to preferences and competitive $$$, as always. A LHD car would, IMO, be worth the same as an equivalent RHD car less the conversion costs should conversion be req'd down the track in order to on-sell it. My opinion, I think realistic, but others may disagree.
  3. Generally the focus seems to be on old Datto sedans, utes and wagons; 1200, 120Y, 1600, 180B, 200B etc. Lots of die-cast models, old workshop manuals; some old stock parts for the 1200s etc as listed on Facebook. I did find some useful bits and pieces at their All Jap Day stall; very nice people to deal with.
  4. If it's the one sitting on the shell in image 2 then it's the vented type.
  5. Centre panel, greyish colour, still has part # stamped on it.
  6. Thanks will do Eric. Part view of centre panel in next post.

  8. Early 260 rads are the same size as 240. Later cars I believe had taller radiators. Never having had an A/C car I don't know if A/C rads were larger than non-A/C. Anyway, it's a case of trying whatever comes out of the woodwork to see if it fits. Most cars will have had their radiators replaced long ago, with an aftermarket unit fitted in many cases which may not have the same edge frame and bolt holes as the original so who knows if an original type shroud will conveniently just bolt up to what one has. Some fabrication may well have to be factored in to the job.
  9. Ah, black sheathed braided, now that sounds like a plan! Cheers dat2kman!
  10. Thanks guys, yes best I just get them matched by a local supplier. Buying off eBay is most convenient but I can never be sure if I'm actually getting an exact match, been caught out before.
  11. The original Nissan rubber brakes hoses have 19mm end fittings, that's measured flat-to-flat, which seat neatly into the hose brackets. Does anybody know a brand - either rubber or braided (if the latter must be ADR-compliant, there are about 7 approved brands) - which matches the Nissan hoses correctly? Aftermarket hoses I've looked at thus far are 17mm which is undersized, and while they can be used and will work I'm not happy with that. (No I haven't tried Nissan).
  12. Anyone attempted to match the greenish/grey primer colour to the inside of the front apron panels by any chance?
  13. Still fingers crossed and hoping for good news potter260.....
  14. Maybe, but if one accepts it as a 'tribute' car rather than a replica, if it is indeed based on the Corsa body kit, & considering the work that would have gone in to it, IMO 40K is pretty reasonable. Although for the ad to call it a collector car is too much of a stretch for me.
  15. 260Z auto diff ratio 1:3.545, whereas 5 speed manual diff ratio 1:3.7. Either is usable but the 1:3.7 is the factory selection for good reason. 260Z diffs were either R180 or R200 size, each of which uses it's own specific half shafts & mounting bar.
  16. 'Gutted' would be an understatement I suspect... fingers crossed for you most is salvageable.
  17. There are pictures in the his first post.
  18. Thanks for that. Interesting! Lots more gizmos than my car. Yes just like you say this car did have power mirrors & electric windows, I still have the switches. I didn't see the car itself, it had been turned into a dirt track racer so I was told. A rather inglorious end to what would have once been a nice car. I on-sold the tach & speedo; they were similar to mine at first glance but different red line IIRC, & a much lower max speed number on the speedo.
  19. Good-oh, thanks for that. The car was I believe a '78 model JDM, a 2+2. Don't know whether 200 or 260. Electric windows, more accessories than my spartan 260. I've kept the clock as a spare, although my 260 clock works anyway. But yes the font etc doesn't match my existing gauges.
  20. So what's this one? I got it from a late JDM Fairlady, around 2005 IIRC, a rusty car in NZ that the owner stripped out to turn into a race car. Has 3 hands and date. The outer casing is identical to the basic Jaeco clock in my 260, same plug, bracket etc.

  23. It's the location of the retractor which is key, some were fixed lower on the wheel arch, some on the strut, the internals can differ depending on the belt angles.
  24. Might pay to post a photo of what you're wanting to match, as there are different seat belt set-ups across Zeds whether Aus-new or from elsewhere.
