PZG302 : Thanks for the info. I have the triple 40 dellortos already so it looks like I'll try that out for a while and see what the power is like ( i was impressed with the quick squirt around the block ! ) then look at a 280 injections idea. I would prefer torque over peak power so it might happen earlier than later.

PZG302 : How much do you think the EFI setup was contributing to your power output ? I mean if you were to set it up with a triple carb setup instead would you get the same figures ? Cheers and beers

zedman240 : Perhaps a tech article on it all for gav. I seriously considered this a while ago. Would again if i get another zed/engine.

Monaroz: Using gemparts on ebay got me all the linkage extras I needed. ( mainly the little idle screws and some other things like a vacuum take off for the dizzy ). Quick service and they are up here in QLD as well. Also there is a mob on ebay.co.uk that have even more stuff for them . I dont know about any other place. I havent found many Z places up here in Bris. I also have rebuild kits ordered as though they are running i dont know what is inside the carbs. And that isnt a good thing. About the only thing that i am going to need to track down is the larger springs on the chokes ( i have 40 dhla dellortos and they are the L series I am not sure but I cant seem to find much info on the choked dellortos. ) Get Charlie Boy's . That is a VERY good price.

Just put mine on. bought a 280zx electronic dizzy and also using a holley blue + large fuel lines but then i am a weirdo when it comes to over doing things. At present using 5.5 psi fuel pressure which is what i had the su's using. Tuning is an expensive thing put money aside for a dizzy regraph and dyno tune. Everything sulio has said as well as a big stonking smile when you fire em up and you sound like a race car !

Simon DeGroot Turbo L28 240z - Where abouts?

dunno where he is but those that are interested using the wonderful webarchive site you can check the site out ... last update : http://web.archive.org/web/20060824083452/http://www.240z.id.au/ most of the links work. -
my 2 cents ... Electronic distributor. Or if you cant get one at least a rebuild of the points dizzy. Sounds strange but a fully reco'ed or electronic dizzy with properly working advance/retard makes a big difference. Just a thought : blow through carby plus a turbo ? Dont know how much it would cost but it might be an idea.

Interior shot with my heirloom wheel on. I have had the wheel for 16 years and it has been on 7 different cars so far. Dash is not cracked just badly painted. -

hello I have just done the fuel pump regulator thing. on twin su carbs from a jag. My carbs are the 1 3/4 versions with single float bowls per carb , I dunno if this makes the rest of what i have done not the same for you but ... The reason I went for a larger pump ( holley blue ) was I have used them before, and the mechanical pump + electrical pump in the back did not flow enough fuel to the SU's as well as I have got a set of triples getting ready for use which were going to tax the stock system. I got rid of the mechanical fuel pump all together and just use the really noisy holley blue pump as a standalone pump. The only thing i have changed is to allow the pump a little time before i hit the spark on the engine. First . The holley blue i picked up came with a fuel pressure regulator. Which is set to a default 6psi setting. I stumped up for a pressure gauge to check this. The pump can go up to 15 psi or something like that. I was worried the fuel bowls would blow up but someone on here as well as the bloke at jagspares up here said that they could take the pressure if they are rebuilt which i did about 4 mths ago. second. My setup is one new fatter line to replace the two out of three lines coming from the back . The breather setup i didnt touch at all. The single fat line goes from fuel tank > fuel filter > pump > Length of car > fuel filter in engine area >regulator with the gauge on one of the outlets > to currently a twin fuel rail type of thing i nicked off a jag engine i have kicking about. I dont have a return fuel line but I can hear the pump throttling down when i am not on throttle. All hosing was upspecced to efi spec just to over engineer everything! I am sure there are some other people out there with a closer to your configuration.

nzeder : Thanks for the info. Very important info ... must file away. I was going to source an l28 from somewhere and put the e88 head on. Now i think i will have a closer look at what i have.
-
ok this is weird. When i bought the car it had the e88 head on a l24 bottom end. The bloke said it was a stroker but i thought ( now know ) it probably wasnt, so i did what all self respecting car nuts do ... i whipped the head off. So the l24 looked stock. Did a little research on the net regarding what a stock l24 looks like and it concurred with what i had. So's any modifications must have been done to the e88 head. Other than a pretty lovely port match to the manifold I didnt notice anything out of the ordinary on the head. So I went to repco and got a new gasket ( asked for a l26 gasket ) and screwed it all together again. I remember something posted on the classicz forum where they worked out that there were two e88 heads ?! anyway according to this poster the later E88 stamped ( the letters and numbers were larger about 1.5 to 2 cm vs 1cm ) were a better flowing e88 and I read this as being larger exhaust valves like nzeder says. Same post had someone saying that all of that is BS. Either way I have the later e88. I honestly can say i didnt see any modding though i was looking for untoward valve stem seals at the time. Got me wondering what is going on now. Might have to look at the head again.
