I hope that your little bloke gets better. and i concur with mr toecutter. You'll get another one.. I would be in the market for these in about 3 months time but cant do it now ... sorry Mike
-
looking forward to it. my bank balance isnt though
-
now what i would do ... is put the cossie engine into the zed. yeh. the zed is probably lighter than the merkur( sierra over here ? ) so your power to weight would be suhweet.

those konig's ... wish people would stop posting about them... I must not buy them... Must not go to ozzy tyres.com.au to ask how much they are... must not look at performancwheels superlites in 16 inch size ... Actually i think the pricing is the same for both. going to find out once ozzytyres comes back to me.

gidday mate NOOOICE ! Now for my question. I too have a 2+2 ... I thought the flares didnt work on the 2+2 rear half? How is the fit? What does it look like ? I have previously discounted flares on my young lady as she was a 2+2 and thought that flares didnt fit because of the different rear quarter. I also like the stripes as well ( thinking of white version for mine ) What I am really asking for is a shot of her bum if you dont mind!

Performance Enhancements for early Z car L-series
modular9 replied to gav240z's topic in Business Directory + Links
Great idea. Well my 4 tips that i have learnt from my zed ownership so far ( 3 months !! ) is : 1. spend some money on rekitting the SU's mikuni ,whatever you have. Very important that these are at 100% with linkages as well. 2. Also IF your budget can stretch to an electronic distributor then definitley do it. I found out that my points based dizzy was not advancing ( or is it retarding I can never remember ) enough at full throttle so the poor little L6 wasnt getting enough spark to fully utilise the fuel mixture at top rpms. The rebuild of the points dizzy was more than the cost of a electronic job from the wreckers. Bolted the new dizzy in with a ceramic coil jobby and new leads/sparks as well ... noticable difference. 3. Lose as much weight as you can on the car as well as yourself !! I took out the entire aircon and heater system ( including hosing but left the front facia of the heater ) took out the subwoofer box that weighed close to 30 KG with the 12 inch in it. 4. Get the manual for your car. Much easier than winging it. So after 3 months of ownership that is what i have learnt so far, I'll be reading the article for sure. Especially any exhaust recommendations. -
Doing this conversion myself in the very near future so was wondering about the gearbox location as well. What stopped you doing the rb conversion if i may ask ?

not to mention the site of a burly looking bloke mumbling down the toys aisle of kmart mumbling "zeds zeds where oh for art thou zeds ". Nearly got kicked out ! are you sure it was k-mart and not some special JDM funky place you got that from

the brown one with the silver bonnetery stripery things looks very nice. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Datsun-240z_W0QQitemZ280142577703QQihZ018QQcategoryZ102220QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Though i am not sure about the tuck and roll interior but then black vinyl is my fetish

gav : i hear you man . That green machine is awesome. But then it should after you read the specs of the rest of the engine. I probably could live with 450 hp at the rear wheels. Thanks for the heads up on the other mob. I * MUST * NOT * BUY * THESE
-
nice find ! My dad is thinking about the MGb stuff but about the zed... The throttle linkages and all that look really nice and the idea is great. I think however that it probably would end up being more expensive than a triple weber setup ? Rb 30/25 is the safer option for me

only if they make em in superlarge-beer swilling - rugby prop forward size checkin 'em out.

7MGTE-powered 240Z versus Ferrari F430
modular9 replied to mikedoeslife's topic in Business Directory + Links
problem is that you gotta register and i already have tons and a half of things to remember ... it will happen to you when you are old as well ! passed on your site to a couple of mates of mine who are interested in some of the hybridz that cane be done with the 260 . -
Toecutter : thanks for the find. I am in the market for better carbs or turbo or something. Ok guys what else would be needed? I am assuming a high output fuel pump and larger lines like you need to do with an l28et swap. But i am not really up with what else. I have sent the seller a question as well. But thought i should ask the zed fellas here .

7MGTE-powered 240Z versus Ferrari F430

nice find. Nice sound. gotta disagree with the comments you got on GJDM there with the different engines. Especially if it breathes new life into a car. But that is another post for another day. Lets see say the 240z prolly cost about 35 k AUD with all the engine mods and so forth ( might be more i dunno with the lexus stuff on it , it might ) the ferrari cost 10 times as much! . So is the styling on a ferarri worth 10 times as much as a 240z ? -
Wouldnt the rarity of the 280 in aus punch it's price up ? either way put in as many r200 rear end diffs as you can in the boot and you'll make your money back easy !! Sulio : i am a bit of a fiend for 1967 - 1969's porsches. better idea to get it from the US . The money exchange is pretty good and you can get a better porsche for your money that way.... BUT a rb26 in a 240z would wipe the floor with a porsche for the same money. You know it makes sense !
-
I have been looking at the american market for an early porsche ( cheap as over there compared to here ) so from a logistics point of view you need to know that your zed doesnt need to be converted to right had drive in qld ( and maybe VIC ? ) as it is just over the 30 year cutoff ( do check this though as i based my needs on a 67 porsche ) but your truck will need a conversion or an engineers certificate to allow for LHD in QLD. Also there are a few hoops you need to go through in quarantine and cleaning and so forth. AS for the car ... I have a 77 260z 2+2 which though it is a 2+2 looks rather similar. Some of the zedhedz here will know a lot more. But thought I would put my big foot in first. And yes there is an interest in older datsuns.
-
did you see that one of the comments on there was how the supercharger would get on his nerves after a while ? ... umm no.. I think i can safely say that a rip snorting 240z on song is not a nerver wrecker. maybe a wallet killer but not a nerve wrecker. great find.
