I have always loved this car. Ever since i saw it on the youtube i have held it up to the skyline owners of this world as the archetypal retro-tech datsun.

1. buyers guide sort of thing with common rust areas and issues what you should look for etc. 2. gotchas and fixes eg the ford v6 valve seals being a better fit and option to the datsun versions. About it for now. Not that i am putting up my hand up here or anything like that.

even though i own a 2+2 i'll stick one on the rear quarter window ( with a 2+2 i have a little more room than you guys ! ) So put me down for one for sure! gav : I am about to do some more youtubing and thought ... what about putting up a link to this site at the end of the vid a bit like a credit or something? Ok with you ? And I'll use the gif that you got on here if it is ok.

sulio : Dont want to thread jack so quick story Taken the dellortos off and put the SU's back on. engine is wheezing ( I actually saw oil leaking into the combustion chamber!! ) and cant use the power from the dellortos . Very pleased that you got everything sorted. Take some youtube video so we can hear it !

mango's car looks hot ! The guy who rwc'd mine picked me up for a hatch that was 3 mm off ( as in the panel fitment needed tweaking )... you really should try to go back to the same dood again. -

Pre engine buildup dyno run ( cos i dont really need that new stereo system ! ) with a known sick engine. Ok for what it is worth weather was 23 degrees and 50 % humidity and overcast heres what i am running L24 engine E88 head 3 speed auto ! 1. A buggered piston ring on cylinder 6 with blowby and gummed up sparkplug ( didnt know about this one ) 2. Valve seal gone on cylinder 4 ( knew about this one ) gummed up sparkplug 3. 280 zx electronic ignition 4. triple dellortos ( more about those in sulios triples thread ) Tuned apparently 5. Standard exhaust ( 1.5 inches of pure power ! ) 6. Leaky automatic 3 speed. At 5850 rpms ( and a lot of smoke ) the above engine made 105 hp at the wheels and then I think it died! As the car is basically undrivable now. I have a n42 head that i stripped down to its bare essentials that is going off to be cleaned ( remarkably good condition though ) and hopefully a l28 bottom end from d3c0y coming. Yep I get to build an engine again to my specs. Piccies of how anally retentive i am in number valves , springs etc coming.

funny you posting this today. I am having no end of troubles with my setup and on the weekend i have done the following. Engine L24( Very Very sick more info in my build up area ), Carb Model DHLA40H ( also called emission carb ) Chokes I looked couldnt see the stamping Aux Venturi Not known Main Jet 130 Air Correctors 180 Emulsion Tube 7772.10. Idle Jet 50 and also 55 ( 65's gone to a friend of mine running a 202 ) 55's currently. Idle Jet Air Correctors 0.9mm fixed thanks to Mick74 ( me too ) Accel Pump Jet not known I too have heard the 1.5 turns for the mixtures. However i counted the turns that the tuner put in and they are set at around 5 - 6 ( I have a piece of paper with exact turns if you want it ) . Either way ... too much fuel/not enough air at 1.5 turns. Taking the day off on tuesday ( no neighbours about ) and will be testing further. If your car is running sweet enough with the 1- 1.5 turns then dont phaff about with it I reckon.

No shaving for me ! I broke it all down ( i didnt take the camshaft towers off as the haynes ( blue hard cover version ) says not to ) and the cam is pushing the valves so far down into the combustion chamber i'd need to fly cut the pistons!! I have a l28 short engine coming from d3c0y so I have a few decisions to make ( turbo + megasquirt or something ) but ... First: The N42 head is the one with the injector notches in it. If I continue with the triple dellortos on the l28 will i need these welded up? I'd prefer to keep them in as a possible injector/turbo thing might be in the future. second : camshaft towers . I assume that if i get a regrind ( thinking of the 812c from http://www.tighecams.com.au/profiles3/nissanlseries.htm ) then surely i am going to need to get the camshaft towers redone anyway so I can take these off ? sorry to be such a questioning noob but the L6's sure arent v8 clevelands !

haha I used to drive a xb black falcon coupe 351 extractors and a lumpy cam. I wasnt doing anything wrong when i got breathalised in my driveway before setting off ! nah the zed wont attract the whole " hmm must be up to no good as that is a drift/drag/doof-doof car " type of attention. I love being able to drive past a police car and not have to worry if it was turning around and following. -

sooo you're thinking of taking the engine out of the r33 and plonking it into the z... NICE ! And of course the zed turns more heads She is an absolute beauty... Probably gets past the police a little easier as well. -

Just done it mick ! Got back from a 90 km run spitting and all that ( rush hour ) switched the psi down to 2.60 psi ( dont have a restrictor yet need to get a double banjo fitting for that last carb ) and already the carbs are happier. Just that tweak alone added 500 hp at least!

yeh I have thought about it. In fact only this morning!! I have decided to change the jet size down to 55 ( i got them as well at the same time ) and/or change the fuel pressure as well. Getting some spit back in traffic. At present fuel pressure is 5 psi which is too much (could have a contributing factor ) and i think Enzo250 on here said something about 2.5 psi and a restricted return line. PLus as you say they are very big. However when she is on cam the car handles ... rather well. ;D Great work on the pdf. Should become almost a bible of settings like the efi one on hybridz.

PZG302 : Yeh i have 4 wiring diagrams from 1. atlanticzca 2. Datsunzgarage 3. hybridz.org and zhome.com As well as a sparky friend. Got the pulse going up to the tacho connector under the dash ( measured with multimeter and it works ) but the tacho just doesnt. Got it working with a ballast resistor + gt 40r oil filled coil. but not with the ceramic one - ballast resistor. Dont want to thread-hijack sooooo moonstonebluz : get the TACHO SON !

Thought i might put up a members journal about my Z " Christine ". Bought sight unseen on ebay in NSW. Went down and drove 900 km in one day to get back up to brisbane. Didnt miss a beat. If this is z ownership then bring it on! Since then I have changed the su's out to triple dellorto's ( thanks for the help Mick ) , taken the aircon out ( dont need it up here! ) , Converted to electronic ignition , installed the noisiest holley blue fuel pump ever!! , installed a thermo electric fan and got rid of the siezed noisy engine fan, and got a new head ( thanks Jake ) for the sick tappetty valve guide stem seal leaky E88 head. So what is in the future? 2 1/4 inch exhaust system 1.5 inch lowering job Rota RB-R wheels Manualising the drive train. Tachometer changing or reconfiguring Stop looking at 300z twin turbos. Maybe not in that order.

joshing mate ! Yeh the tuner i went to wants to see the car after i put the n42 head on and exhaust as well as the ram tubes . He reckons that they will need a retune. Anyway once that is done i'll send you the updates to the needles and stuff. ( he reckons i could go higher but i dont know looked at my plugs to day and they literally dripped in fuel ! )
