  1. welcome to the forum. good to see another 2+2 that has been resurected. sorry guys but i couldnt see any interior shots besides the one through the window which u cant realy see much. he paint looks great. besides the front spoiler work if i think hes done the same sunroof job as i did that would take a lot of time to do. is that a glass top or just metal painted black? as for what is worth is what you paid. to you it was worth it since u bought it. to someone else it may be worth more and others maybe less. if you happy with it thats all it maters. you love it even more once you get it on the road and put some nice rims. the S30 is one car that i never driven prior that i bought and spent lot of money on it. and dont regret it at all. was worth every cent and im sure lot of zed owners here will tell you the same.
  2. i ordered it prior to the release as well. looks like all the VIC members got a copy but none to SA. fairly pissed about it..... i can think of 1001 ways to spend that money elsewhere. expecialy if it stayed in the bank account i could have saved lot more. i wonder if other issues rock up how long they will take to be delivered?
  3. there is something about the z31 that i like expecialy the late model one the californian look. driven a 200zr before and i like it. hopefully i can add one as well to my stable in the future. nice car bythe way i like it :-P
  4. ok this is big BS. who do i contact about my copy??? got a feeling that i got ripped off.I ordered it pretty much early in the piece as everyone else did. NOT HAPPY AT ALL..... very dodgy sorry.
  5. still nothing looks like its on a ship from Melbourne to Adelaide now. if it is comming from melbourne. i wonder how long will the next issue take to get here. Anyone else from Adelaide that has ordered this magazine??
  6. 2+2 260z and 2 seater 260z Dash are same. Center consoles are different. bit longer on the 2+2
  7. i got from season 2004 till 2007. but the current aired ones on SBS i wouldnt mind having a copy. only problem Stinky ass TELSTRA MONKEYS cant be bothered to change my connection to be ADSL compatible. F%@#$ TOS%$#% Still awaiting land lord or telstra to get their arse in gear to install the cable. 9months and still waiting. I wouldnt mind getting the whole season 11 when someone downloads it. will pay for the trouble.
  8. still nothing i guess SA behind few days
  9. i had couple but cannot recall if i ended up throwing it in scrap metal or not. ill have a check next time im at the workshop.
  10. yeah ive played import tuner for couplke of weeks and my forza skills down the drain. now playing PGR4 which is prob bit better than import tunner. how you drive it easy. i only drive with traction controll and abs otherwise you dont stop or go anywhere. just big cloud of 4wd burnout. in the U class if i concentrate hard i can lead the race for 3 laps till tyres fry than the next corner ends up in destroying the car. damage set to simulation. even with traction and abs u have to be easy on controlls. i did try with stabilty but improved only high speed stabilty. also you have to put those ugly spoilers to set the downforce. tried using harder compund tyres but have issues keeping up with from start but do end up catching them but to eager to come first end up in the concrete wall. but for a test drive blast is one crazy car. Sr20det is bit more managable in the 432
  11. nice car like above dont change too many things just those covers and maybe clean the body of those stickers and replace with stock badges. sweet ride. bet ya u love the s30 now more than ever. i sure do. i drove my s14 last weekend first time since i got my z on the road about 6 month ago.. though still nice to drive but i lot different. kinda miss the long bonnet of the s30 and clostrophobic cockpit. i couldnt believe that my dream car s14 will be replaced with a 32yr old S30.
  12. i hope the postie didnt bring mine today otherwise it would be drenched and ill be pissed. cant wait to go home now to check if i got mine.
  13. scootag is right. i ended up sourcing a manual box for small fortune till later all i could have done is to use another brake one and cut the pedal to suit manual pads. easy. also auto ones are very cheap. good luck. also clutch master u can use from early nissan ie 180B 200B etc.....
  14. yeah engine would be very expensive. and almost impossible to find (depending how dep the pocket is) my 432 on forza has all wheel drive with fully decket out rb26det. of the line it will clean anything. only downfall is that it wont stop. goes around corners well just the brakes let it down big time. and ive got the best ones u can get through the game. pitty my xbox is modded and dont have bband to go on xbox live.
  15. Ring up your local nissan dealer. they can get new ones. but be prepared to pay i think they were around $75 each. i ended up getting new ones from the US but of the s1 with "240Z" written on the side.also ended up getting new "datsun" fender ones and "Datsun" bonnet badge. at the time it was a fair bit cheaper than getting these from nissan. the new ones are made from plastic but are very good.
  16. when i went to get my self a classic car with intentions of modifying it but retaining the classic look.i had few cars in mind at the time and on #1 list was a mazda rx4 coupe. couldnt find one so my second choice was early Z car. it pays a lot to do some reasearch on a particular model like you are doing. though being a nissan freak and knew how to look for a bad car i didnt do to much reaserch. (non at all) ended up bringing home a fairly rough 260z 2+2 with siezed engine and stuffed interior. for $500 cant complain i guess. body and chassis was in very good condition which was the only thing i was interested in and that most of the exterior bits were there. its after joining the forums that i fell in love with the 2 seaters. though i still like my 2+2 for a daily car and dont regret it. eventualy after few months i ended up buying my first choice as well the RX4 and few month after that 240z that i couldnt resist. now im happy got them all LOL. only problem running out of space and got lot of work to do next 5 years on these cars. i guess find out what is the purpose of the car. do you need the 2+2 or 2seater is ok? the 2 seaters tend to fetch more money than 2+2 but there are some 2+2 that are getting up there in price. eventualy i guess the the rate of the 2+2 dying to help a 2 seater to live it will be the more extinct beast. as for moding well again its what you want the car for. v8 give you reliabilty with big power but also drain your pocket for fuel. Turbos can go as fast as v8 but probably bit easier on the fuel when not driven hard. also some regulations these days will stop you from installing a big v8 in the earlier 240z. unless u buy one allready done. turbo engined are bit less restrictive but still got to be very carefull. do your reaserch with local RTA (road transport authority) good thing about the s30 is that they are very easy to work on and if modding its one of the easiest cars to do. lot of different conversions and upgrades.
  17. At this stage prob planing a full day event. i guess depending on the number of ppl that will turn up. so i guess for locals it will be 1 day and for interstate ppls it would be at least an overnighter. i guess Vic members are closest to us so a 8.5hr (or less) road trip aint too bad. prob getting ahead of my self it would be good to get some sort of driving event on the track. but our drag strip is out of commision and the race track is bit of a drive from Adelaide. i gess dyno shootout is bit boring (to me anyway). so prob an all day event with bit of show and bbq durign the day with a cruise through the Adelaide hills later in the evening.
  18. Supprisingly Wikipedia has fair bit of details of the Z car. most we allready know with few interesting and fun facts. Also theres few pics to look at as well. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Datsun_240Z http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nissan_280ZX http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nissan_300ZX http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nissan_350Z
  19. The Z Garage is thinking of orginising a Z meet Cruise BBQ day for Adelaide in near future It would be a good idea probably for joint venture between AusZcar and TheZgarage. Also if Adelaide Z nuts can temp some of the other state members to come for this meet in particular our neighbours from Victoria. Early this year we orginised one and had over 20 Z cars come to the meet. from S30 to Z32. we are also looking at joining forces with Datsun and 300zx and other nissan clubs. Anyone that is interested in comming to Adelaide please let me know so we know what scale it will be and how far with organisations we will go. If any members from SA that are interested in giving a hand in helping orginise such an event please let me know. This stage its just an idea.We plan for a good one for those comming interstate so it a trip worth doing.
  20. done a quick dodgy fix on the lock. replaced it with another one. straightened the damage a bit and stuck a blue vinyl sticker over it so it doesnt look as bad. now it looks like one of those old mans cars with key lock protector around it. better thant he twisted metal and lock. when i get time the lock is comming off and hole welded. i should have done it from the start. i kicked a big fuss at work about it and got few ppl worried so they should do something to improve the security. lets hope.
  21. i was wondering which one of the vg30 was for sale. but i guess the same one i was thinking off. also mentioned previously on few topics. i guess if it has been repaired properly theres prob nothing wrong with it. lets face it at least 90% of the cars on the road have been at some stage in a bingle. if u think its less you got to be joking. older cars are prob almost 98% been in an accident. if its fixed properly theres nothing wrong with them or you be struggling to see if its ever been damaged. its the dodgy ones u got to be carefull but you can see the dodgy ones from mile away. i used to work in a crash repair and visited lot of damaged auctions so know fair bit about it.
  22. this car also discussed in this topic http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,2486.msg19184.html#msg19184
  23. all true besides the last part. RB do have belts just like the VG. i think some of us here are missing the point. Marty i think is looking at buying one of the two cars. one has a rb20det conversion (the black one on one of the other post on the forum thats currently for sale) and thats not a stock rb20det. also im assuming hes looking at a VG30det powered one too. my assumption its the red one with gray simmons. also mentioned on this forum. getting 200kw at the wheels with RB is not hard or uncommon. few things are needed but not to break the bank. as mayhem said with his rb25 leaving VESS behind. i had a run with one of this modified ones rolling start at 80kmh (gives lot more advantage to the big v8) and i kept up with him with my dicky fuel pump. now the fuel pump is sorted and the car pulls very hard all the way to red line. now im after a rematch all this still not tuned. but hopefully in next two weeks ill get everything checked and ecu remapped. as for fuel consumption. a modifed turbo engine when driven normaly would give you better fuel economy than stock, ive proven that in my s14. also u need same amount of energy to make same amount of power. 200kw 4cyl should use roughly same as 200kw v8 when both are at that power level. fuel difference happens when engine is idling or lower rpm. takes less fuel to turn a 4cyl than a v8 at lower rpm. as a daily you cant go wrong with RB20det. not sure what condition and price on the vg powered car but the rb20det one is sure a nice car.
  24. on full bore there prob wouldnt be much difference in fuel consumption. but when driving normaly the rb should give you better fuel economy its only a 2L. mine roughly returns 12L per 100km with mixed driving. im bit heavy footed expecialy from the lights when P plater commodore drivers think they fast. preety much happens on daily basis. for a daily the RB is probably better choice. if u have more plans on updating the VG can return big HP not to say that RB can't. common mod for rb20 is to fit rb25 internals making it rb23. bit more torque but still quick reving of the rb20. as for diff. clutch type are prob bit harder to find. but thinking of the Z that has the RB20det i think that one allready has clutch type.
  25. depending on what u use it for but regardless Vg30det will have more tourqe and more power. prob bit heavier than rb20det but prob better balanced it will use more fuel than Rb20det. aftermarket support is lot larger for the RB engine RB engines prob bit easier to work on. Gearboxes. all depends what 300zx gbox it is. if out of the vg30dett than its lot stronger than rb one. but also lot heavier and lot more expensive to replace if it does die. R200lsd or r230 if out of Z32. R200 fairly expensive if long nose. short nose are fairly cheap and z32 R230 are reasonably priced also bit stronger. the Z32 is also short nose. all depends what car we talking about. if anything but Z32 the diff will not fit in earlier model Z without some big mods. that includes Z31, S130, and S30.
