  1. Look for cracks, lots of metal filings/chunks (obvious kinda) and pitting (cylinder). Im guessing you already know a completely smooth cylinder (glazed) is bad. My 3c worth.
  2. Well it arrived last Friday and although it wont be on the car for a couple of weeks at least, it looks and feels the goods. Looking forward to doing some good launches without fretting over snapping the shafts.
  3. I have heard that much like the R31, you can use Silvia suspension, with mild changes, but im not sure.
  4. It should be as mine was, but previous owners do weird things (i had 240z rear suspension on my 260. http://www.viczcar.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=299 This helped a lot and have since learnt a lot about these diffs. I have R33 Cusco 2 way LSD centre (aftermarket), so it goes to show you can do a lot of different things with these diffs.
  5. Rotor Z31? Do it!!! That would haul arse and light as, well, a really light thing. :D:D Ahh well, god luck anyways. Will be interesting to see what happens.
  6. Yeh, or me Very regular oil changes an oil cooler or 2 and you have a reliable crazy reving monster. A friend of mine has a 13BT in a old school 323 (rwd) and with a set of slicks (has a locked diff) it pulls 11second quaters on stock boost and engine. Only other thing it has is a microtech on a safe tune.
  7. Why on earth would you change a rotary to a RB25DET?
  8. Well i have my RB25 out at the moment, so ill take some photos and do some measurements in 2 weekends time (when im there next), if anyone is willing to measure theyre box we might be able to put something together.
  9. My one came with 240k box, so im unsure of what they cost. I sold all my stuff to blue_leaf, so you might want to see if he still has it and wants to sell.
  10. Hahaha, sorry dude. The 240K was a L24 powered sedan (that looked like crap imo). It made a huge difference to low down power, but you have to shift more often.
  11. Hey bud, I had a 240K box on my L28, had a lot shorter ratio, but probly not the best for highways (wasn't too bad though).
  12. I am building, but im just getting things stronger so that i trust them, before I get to the point of full on racing. Im just going to do hill climbs and circuit open days in the mean time to practice.
  13. Yeh cheers mate, they have a really good feedback rating and the guy in the emails really knew his stuff. A lot of money to risk though I know.
  14. SOunds good mate, who knows, I might see you there in a couple of years
  15. Ok, so I was looking on ebay.com for Datsun parts and I come across two words that made my day, CV conversion. I asked the seller a couple of questions and I was very happy with the response, so I bid on it. In the end I missed the bid by $10, but he contacted me after the bid and said that if I want, he can sell me a kit for my highest bid being $850USD!!! I know thats a lot of money, but considering machining, purchase of 280ZX shafts and having my diff joint fit them, i was looking at paying 2/3 of this kit, but no where near the strength of 4340 zinc plated shafts. So anyway here is the list of stuff that comes withthe kit. Also, if you are interested it will cost approx $1350 oz dollars including shipping. So let me know if you are and i will contact him and see what i can do. WCR CV Halfshaft Axle Kit For Datsun 510 & 240/260/280Z Porsche-Type High Performance CV Joints Chromoly Cages & Hardened Alloy inner/outer races 4340 Chromoly Custom Axles ? Simple bolt on for 510?s and Z-cars, no modifications required. Designed for direct fit to R160 & R180 differentials. Can also be used on R200 diffs that use U-joint halfshafts. Please let me know if they are for R200's as these are a tad shorter. Comes complete with detailed installation directions.
  16. Do you know which events you would race in? I say this because a lot of race series will only allow cars with original engines. that being said, if you were to make it a 200ZR perhaps it would be allowed. So my advice would be to find out the regulations for the races you want to compete in and build to their standards. But i like the idea, its an uncommon thing to see racing (well that I have seen anyway) and with a few mods those cars can look really nice.
  17. No worries, I have been looking for it for ages since the guy who had it in his sig got rid of it, but someone else has it now. I considered it, but it is a lot of money since i would be doing it with forged internals, plus the car would be off the road for a long time. But I will stick to 250rwkw for now its hard to take.
  18. I finally found it: http://www.geocities.com/rb30_twincam/
  19. You did call them/us Mexicans Hi George, welcome to the site. This is a very friendly forum and everyone is happy to help out where they can if you need it.
  20. Hahaha, you've got PM , sorry to hijack the thread
  21. Yeh good thanks, rebuilding the engine at the moment and loking at a few other things like power steering and have already done a coilover conversion. Heaps happening, but im nearly done mechanically now so cant wait until its done.
  22. Althought the engine isnt in at the moment, I know my engine sits really far back with these engine mounts, so its very close to the fire wall, i will upload the only pic i have later from the other computer (the pic is on there).
  23. Cos you have to do this to fit a subi rack, insted of a couple of small notches. Well this is my take on it all anway, im not saying im right, just what seems to be right. http://www.viczcar.com/forums/files/imgp0646_643.jpg
  24. Well actually from what I have heard these are really strong reliable racks. But also, it is so much easier to do the MX5 conversion, compared to the subi rack. But like I said I will let you know.
  25. Last I heard they can still be sourced through Nissan. So basically for those who dont know, the 200ZR was released in Japan as a Z31, but with a RB20DET. This means that engine mounts were made to suite both Z and RB. Also since the sump from a normal RB hits the front crossmember and rack, they made a sump and pickup to suite. Unfortunately I dont have the part numbers, but like I said, i believe it can all be sourced through Nissan Gen Parts. I actually got mine from "Drunkenmaster" who I doubt has any more, but would probably be able to point in the right direction. End rant.
