  1. You have to make sure you are trying to lift the head off, it wont budge sideways if you know what I meen. So use your mallet and wood and hit from below on an angle and it should brake seal. Did you put a wedge in the timing chain to stop the tensioner from poping out? Ash
  2. I have been meaning to post this link for a while. These vids are really cool. Ash
  3. There is no real point putting a rb head on an L series block. The rb block is better than the l series etc etc Ash
  4. And I always thought the 2+2 was a wagon lol Thats pretty cool. I love seeing Zeds with different themes. Like that 4wd one that was going around on the net a while ago. Were did you find that pic? Ash
  5. Yer I picked up a set of triple solexs for it. Should be interesting to see how it turns out? Ash
  6. That will teach me for looking at old posts and not reading when then were posted  showed up as a new post when I logged? Cars going well thanks. Hows the house going? Just got my RB25 for my other zed today. Nothing like starting a new project half way through another. Ash
  7. I cannot beleve that you guys think a stroker is so good! what do you mean a L28T has the same power as a stroker l28? do you meen a std turbo l28 vs a stroker as thats not a real fair comparison. Also Gav how much power do you really expect to get from your stroker? I respect the fact you want a motor thats a bit different to the norm but I dont think its better than std l28 that has been built properly little own a turbo motor! Sorry to be a prick but I just cant stand the rubbish about strokers being so good any longer :x Also just as a final point the 2 quickest Zed cars around Phillip Island (I take this as a good mesure of cars allround) are both l28 that have been boared out a little (prob about 2.9L). Ans there have been two other race built zeds with strokers who couldn't touch them! (built by zshop) So I have had my whine now so I will shut up! By the way Sulio I wouldnt mind being in on the dyno test with my car when it done then we would have L28 L28T and L3.1(stroker) I am happy to discuss this and qualify any of my points but I am not trying to pick a fight. Ash
  8. good point lambs. Roofs for 2 seaters can go for around $400 so I doubt they would fit it for another 300. Ash
  9. Yer if its the white one thats close to the firwall on the drivers side its windscreen washer bottle Ash
  10. Just thought as there has been a bit of chat about prices on the forum I would put up a poll for what you guys think a original never crashed early 240Z with original motor is really worth. So one that would be judged high at a concourse if you get my drift. Ash
  11. sorry forgot to mention The linkage kits listed above. Ok this is a perfect eg of why people have tuning issues with triples. The kit listed on ebay has shitty plastic joints and crap pressed steel linkages that will without a doubt move/bend and make for bad tuning. On the other hand if you check out the linkage kit on redline website the have proper rose joint style joints and are all round better quality(heap better) be intersting to know the cost though Ash
  12. yer good question. I was thiniking the same before I got a set of three. I spose if you got em for around 40-60$ a carbie you couldnt go to wrong but I am not sure on the differences on a "matched set" if they are truly matched. I will ask around and see what I can find out Ash
  13. Yer I had seen them as I had been looking for a set to go on a motor i just am about to purchase Thanks Ash
  14. I really dont undersatnd why peolpe are so worried about triples. be it delorto's, webers or solex. They srnt that hard to look after if they are setup properly to start with. The problems peolple have are as follows: They go out of tune because peole put crap linkages on them that bend or flex or are not locked off so one or two move a little which causes the butterflies to be out of alignment with each other (only have to differ a tiny bit to stuff the tuning up) They are jetted wrong to start with! wrong fuel pressure or just old and need new kit put through them. It doesnt matter which type you buy as long as you find the right person to setup them. I raced for 3-4yrs with a set of triple 45 webbers and because they were setup with the right jets, linkages etc to start with all I had to do is theoccasional linkage adjust an they ran perfect with no other tweaks I have also run a set of delortos on my road car for about 2 yrs and they never went out of tune! In my experiance the best delorto tuner is Datsun performance centre in Cheltenham. You pay a bit but he know his stuff. I am pretty sure he does webbers and solex aswell. He did my deortos and I will get him to do my new solexs anyway thats my two cents worth also I brought the triple solexs mentioned of ebay and I will let you know how I go. but I tink for $280 they are a bargin Ash
  15. [/img] do you recon this is to wide on the wheel side? Ash
  16. but that one is owned by a guy with lots of rare models!!!!! lol

    su problem

is the butterfly in the rear carbie opening the same as the front one? maybe the bushes on the buterfly shaft are worn out bad on the rear carbie. Ash
  18. Alot of us have looked into the dohc L series and it just isnt worth the money. Last thing I heard the head would set you back at least $10,000 so you are better of buying a RB 25 for $1000-$2000 and if you want the old skool look and sound you can get a manifold and bolt on triple webbers. If you wanted to do it on the cheep you could even use the RB20 and then it woulb be the same as the original L series twincam that came in the 432 Ash
  19. pics look great guys! Ash
  20. I had the exact setup but unfortunatly cannot remember what jets I was running. try emailing Gordon dobie from "Datsun Performance centre" he has a website. He has done quite a few of these setups and will know were to start. Ash
  21. good on you gav you wont regret going with triples. The induction noise is awsome. If you need any help with seting them up I would be happy to help if you. Ash
  22. I guess im a bit of both. I like my car to look pretty good but it has to go, stop and turn well aswell. Ash
  23. yer I cannot wait to get back on the track!!! It will be 2 yrs in April since the car was crashed. Ash
  24. would love to but Im still a few months of getting back on the track Ash
  25. it should still hav the vin no stamped on the firewall just above the brake master cylinder so you should be able to get it rego with that no. if it is an aussie car. you are best to speek to vic roads to get all the info. Ash
