Also they quoted me $285 each for the 16x10 at the wheel place around the coner as I was thinking of getting a second set. The only prob is there is limeted tyres available that fit 16x10 wheels. I asked them and they only make 10 " in 16s Ash

yer thats right they fit the car with the std 240 suspension!!!!! I have them off the car at the moment if anyone wants to come around and stickem on there car and have a look. Ash

I have a cams manual if you want to come over and check it out some day you are welcome to (if you are in Melbourne that is). There are heaps of rules for marquesports but as a guide you can do some small body mods like fibreglass panels etc but you cannot change the main chassis apart from limited bracing. the engine has to be one that was available std for that car (but you can get away with an l28 as it came in the 280z). brakes are free and suspension has to be the same type as standard but you can put coil overs and do a few small mods like rose joints etc. you can only have turbo if t came as std. you can remove most of the iteriour eg carpet door trim but you have to have the orignal dash. for the historic classes it has to be really std right down to the twin s/u carbs and l24 for Sc unfortunatly the v8's kick ass in this class aswell as the porsches and I worked out it would cost just as much to run in this class as Marquesports and marquesports is more fun (and faster) Ash

ok guys here is the low down on racing your z. I raced my car in 2B Marquesorts for about 4 yrs in the Vic state series. The car was pretty competetive for the first few years but is definatly outclassed now because you are not alowed turbo's and the l28 is as far as you can go. In 2002 I finished 5th outright but the car would be lucky to finish in the top 10. My car (before it got crashed into.which i am currently rebuiling) has l28 taken out to about 2.9l with a very modified p90 head runing triple 45 webbers on AVGAS. It is putting out about 250-280hp. It has fibreglass front quaters, bonnet, hatch. full roll cage and all the hevey bits pulled out. 16x10 wheels with slick tyres r200lsd big brakes etc etc other works really modified. You could build I nice spaceframe z with big turbo rb26 and lots of other cool bits and run it as a 2A invited sportscar but it would cost a packet to build. It gets quite expensive to curcuit race your car as the entry to the state series is about $290 for the two days and then you have fuel and all the running costs (and also the risk of some dickhead running into you!) Having said that theres nothing more fun than getting out on the track and beating a porsche!!!!! There is also sprint meetings that are a bit cheaper and you dont need a full cams licence but you dont get to race others on the track it is more of a time trial. Yer its got coil overs etc etc. Im running 16x10 performance challenger wheels. the wheels actually fit though with the std suspension but as they are on the road/race car I will definaty be using the coilovers which have my big disks and brakes fitted. yer I know what you mean about side skirts but they look pretty cool with my setup so I will put a pic or two up to see what the verdict is Ash

I dont know the exact details but there are two different 240 doors (think its just the openinh mec. thats different then thers the late (around76) 260 doors but i think there is a cross over somewere in the middle from the 240 to 260 doors i think? Ash

yer for sure . because Im not using slicks anymore I will be running 255 toyo's which will just fit under the flairs. I have just taken some pics with the flairs and also experimenting with side skirts

HI I am actually doing a c/f bonnet for my race/road car but it will be just 1 layer of c/f and the rest will be fibreglass. But I am still a fair way off doing it. Still havent done the flair molds yet either. gav just remember 2 cars means double the work! (but could also be double the fun though hey) Ash

I am pretty sure the ports on that head are really small so you would have to do lots of porting and put bigger valves. I think you would be better of taking a bit off the bottom of the p90 (or putting flat top pistons if you havent already) to get the compression up. Ash

yer I use adobe premeire pro but you might want to try pinnical studio or the editing software that comes with XP as its much easier if your not familiar with editing software. but if you need any tips Im happy to offer what I can alos I think gav uses it to Ash

yer you need an eng cert if its anything other than l24 in 240 or l26 in 260 but I have changed my 240 to l28 with no probs just told vic roads it was a option for the car. but if you go for rb or other motor you should get an eng cet. Ash
