  1. Matt, Yer thats them! They repair consoles. I always thought the 260 vs 260 2+2 consoles were the same apart from the ashtray at the rear on the 2+2 models! If you get one of these cheap ie $40 and get it repaired you could always have that hole filled!
  2. Whats Dashboard Doctor on Syney Rd Coburg charging to reco those!? I know they do them! Are they still open?
  3. man that sux. Keep tryimg to find him in the meantime see if ROH would be decent enough to make them for you at cost price. I would also let them know in a nice way that there are many other people well aware of the current situation.
  4. thanks guys that certainly helps. Good to get a basic understanding of the theory howvere I suppose as far as head work goes it really comes down to the engineering business thats doing the job!? Any recommendations in Melbourne area for the L series? I take it they do the best job they can and flow test it after which one would try and find the most suitable carbs!? I suppose what I'm trying to say is do they take into account the carbs and manifold that would be fitted to the head ie 40mm triples or 45mm triples?
  5. Oh ok yes I understood the theory behind the rough walls. I imagine the fuel building up in waves like condensation in an steam pipe on the smooth surface but what about the comment: is this standard practice?
  6. Hi Gav, I've been spending a lot of time reading basics on how an engine works. I know in general terms how cranks, cams, carbies etc work but I've been trying to look into specifics to iprove my basic knowledge and understand why I would get performance gains from mods liken specific head work. I don't mean to hijack this thread but this question sort of moves from the air flow issue discussed above re through carbs through to inlet manifold and then inlet port. I've just read some info on Wikapedia thats got me confused. Some of the info below sounds contradictory to what I've heard from many people, especially the stuff about reducing port size and rough texture for better performance??? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cylinder_head_porting *EDIT: after reading this again it might be a good idea to move it or not drag it out at the least
  7. hehe-yer. On a serious note yer some the Z gear is getting hard to find and sometimes it's easier restoring bits like door trims and other trim.
  8. hey gav be careful, you could turn into a serious horder... I am just picturing you in 20 years time with a house full of old used Z parts. In this future i see you on the couch with bumper bars, old tail lights and grills hanging from the ceilings. The house lights are dim and you clench a shot gun whilst in the background that Deliverence movie tune can be heard!
  9. Given time you could do pretty much anything yourself on these cars. Just takes a bit of reading, willingness to get your hands diry and time, heaps of time, did I mention time!? Nice find. Body work is the only toughy. Get a good look at your chassis rails under the car, look for rust, poke around with a srew driver. Also check the battery tray area. The rear hatch hinges. These are common areas of rust and the more time consuming fixes but given time can be fixed at home. Good luck. You'll soon find these cars get addictive. Love em! Sulio
  10. Nice buy Mike. I think I've only seen one 2 seater S130 in Australia and thats a track car. It's a shame we did'nt get more, I think they look alot better than the 2+2's. What are your plans with he car once it's running?

Theres been a couple of bids on em since I last checked. Thanks all. I think the best coarse of action will be to get the L28 in the car and get it running on my current SU's. Once she's running right then install some triples as the icing on the cake. Hopefully by the stage 99% of my desposable income is'nt going into the house reno. In the meantime research more and keep an eye out for bargains. It's good to have a thread like this to build on and refer to on occasion. I found this Italian guy that sell alot of Dellortos on E-bay. I think most of it is for Alfas though!? http://stores.ebay.com.au/ALFA1750S-CARBURETORS-PARTS-STORE_W0QQssPageNameZstrkQ3amefsQ3amesstQQtZkm

  13. I?m interested in a set of triples for my car so I?ve done some quick research tonight. To date this is the info I have on my options: - Dellortos were made in Italy, hence can be found on allot of italian machinery dating back to the 70's. Lancias, Alfa, Ferrari, Lambos. That sort of stuff. - Webers were made in Germany (maybe elsewhere under license) and can be found on allot of German Machinery. Porsche, VW, Early BMW. And Also Ferrari / Lambo etc even tho they weren't German. - Solex carbs originally made in Italy come in two version. Solex was a tuner and sold packages. Later, Solex designed their own carbs. Took the best features of both the Webers and Mikunis. Are many parts interchangable? They were sued by Weber and Mikuni for patent infringements, stealing designs, etc. and eventually stopped selling their carbs. Did Mukini buy out Solex and make the same carb under the Mukini name? -Mikunis were made in Japan. So they were the Jap performance Carbs. Found on the Jap performance cars of the era. Many people have different views re tuning with quite a few I?ve read saying the webers and Solex are hardest with issues of temp changes throwing out tuning. I know Ash has a set of Webers with decent linkages with no problems. I've read many good threads on the Dellorto's and they seem to be well priced with a couple of sets I've found going for the $500 mark on e-bay. Advise on the others? I've always been of the impression installing triple carbs on a fairly stock motor would'nt be much benefit over well tuned SU's apart from the great sound of intake suction. If I was to install a set of 40mm triples on an L28 with a mild cam and limited head work how much of a performance gain can I expect compared to using SU's with well matched needles? For a road driven L28 I?ve read 40?s will be a good choice in all above!? Should I buy the three carbs minus manifold, how easy is it to source one and how much? Would all of the listed carbs bolt on to the one intake manifold? Advise on what I can expect to pay for a used set up inc inlet manifold? How much can I expect to pay to rebuild a set of say Solex carbs should they need it and which carbs tend to be more expensive to rebuild? Please feel free to advise on any other issues re any of the carbs above, ie parts availability, performance etc Gav, are you going to instal the mikuni's you bought on your current motor? Guys, please set me straight on any of the info above should it be inaccurate as this thread based on a quick late night search on this topic! Thanks, Sulio
  14. Our first meet was at your dads factroy. Ash organised it! I took quite a few pics of your car, look here: http://www.viczcar.com/v-web/gallery/thumbnails-8.html
  15. I believe I saw his car when it was in Australia!

Very nice job. Love the colour!
  17. Looks quick.
  18. Nice car. Blue_leaf I think you will like this one!
  19. blue leaf I don't think they are meant to be copies of watanabe wheels but rather the original magnisium minilites, I think they might have been English from memory. Anyhow I think they are a big improvement on alot of the dodgy after market 1970's 14" dealer optioned wheels you see on the Z's. I think this is a good wheel for those that want to stay with a period look and not blow mega dollars but of coarse each to their own!
  20. Hi George, Welcome. Hmmm...A lot of people must be logging off and doing a quick look as I have at work. Are you comming to the Nationals? Cheers, Sulio

    Sound System

You better buy some ear plugs and Panadol!
  22. These pics are from classic Z and prolly the same thread this one stems from but they do look nice in these pics. Not sure that I've ever seen them before here. This is one of those items I would'nt be surprised that Nissan still carry in some obscure part of the country sitting on a shelf for the last 15 years!
  23. Nah my armrest were ok. They are DELUX TRIMMING. Have'nt got the phone number but they are listed in Recommended Specialists section of this forum. Cheers Sulio
