  1. It's currently very rough, I'll need to check cost to restore. Let me see if I can dig out some old photos. Otherwise I'll be back near the storage it's in, in a couple of weeks.
  2. I potentially have 1 I could sell, I can even get it restored in advance (re-skinned) professionally.
  3. If you like Charger restomods.
  4. Finally... It was annoying me...
  5. I'm wondering if this puts to rest the idea that a boat headed for the UK of early 240z's was diverted to Australia? If cars were assembled with intention to be here and it's scribed on their glove boxes then no such boats were ever turned around. Unless someone hopped under all the Z's and changed factory markings.. but that I doubt. I don't recall where the rumour started but it seemed to stem from the fact that the UK got 2 early cars but Australia seems to have received the majority of early low VIN # 240z's, then the UK and other RHD markets caught up later.
  6. No they are different. Don't usually have the "chrome" looking cerated bit around the outer edges. Must be off another old Radio.
  7. https://www.ebay.com/itm/174118943023?ul_noapp=true Another AM Radio. I keep finding them. Starting bid:US $1,000.00
  8. First part of your 1 looks like mine #150, but the last 2 parts in the circles I have no idea about. Interesting.
  9. I noticed the kick down switch in mine, thought it was aftermarket at first. Then remembered it's an auto. I have #150 sitting in the garage and was comparing wiring when I removed my alarm recently. They look fairly identical, I am not sure if the lock out switch for the auto is present in the manual car. I am fairly certain the looms remain similar if not the same. Aside from those differences you mentioned.
  10. Too much focus on that Safari Gold car mate!
  11. I've got #1410 down as an auto car originally, my car is #1415 and given that cars were made in batches of configurations (colour codings) and transmission/spec I'd say it's likely #1410 has the original dashboard but another glove box fitted at some point.
  12. QQ. Are you taking that thing to the airport and planning to go through baggage check?
  13. Translation from Alan. 'Australia' (OhSuTuRaRiA) in full! Nice! He's written it out properly. Presume the 'M' means Manual...?
  14. Split the topic on glove box markings into a separate thread for further research etc..
  15. I've split the thread so others can add their own images. Please let us know what car it came from (chassis no. if possible) if it was an AU market car and if it was originally auto or manual. Here is HS30-00150's glove box.
  16. From Alan @HS30-H re: glovebox markings. I'm gonna go and look at HS30 00150 to see if similar markings still exist and will start a new thread to see what comes out of it and if others have interesting markings to see.
  17. You're correct..about that.. I think I was out there since 4:30pm today and just finished up around 11pm.. To begin with I disconnected the module that was controlling the flashers. So far so good.. Car still ran and I could start it without issues. Then I pulled the alarm module - whilst the car was running. Everything was fine, but then I couldn't restart it.. Oops. The plug is a ribbon cable style plug and it doesn't only fit 1 way, so you know what I did when I put it back in? I put it backwards. I saw a spark at the time.. damn it. I fried the alarm module.. which meant the car was dead. I couldn't start it.. Anyway I decided the only thing for it is to completely remove it. Which sounds easy, but it's tentacles where everywhere under the dash and I now have a sore back from playing human contortionist. I found a hidden kill switch up behind the glove box. Clever. Half of it removed.. The other half.. And then I discovered it was spliced into the ignition black/yellow cable. So I have re-joined those up and now it starts fine. I also removed a wire from the ignition coil going back down the back of the car, which I believe is for the old electric fuel pump. Removed the horn that was added under the ignition coil (since that was part of it too).. Actually the horns worked with the alarm, but after re-connecting them they don't work from the horn button? Gonna need to look into that. Looks like the car is connected to the socket, but that was my work light. See if it wasn't running I wouldn't have been able to reverse it into the garage. Went for a few sneaky laps around the block :). First time I've driven it at speed. Nothing major wrong with it, steering feels a little vague so might need tie rod ends and ball joints. Removed these stickers. Good view of the loom now that it's tidied up under there. NB the wire coming from the defrost / defroster tube? That had a switch in it.. No idea if this was another kill switch? Very odd indeed. Recall this is what it looked like when I bought it..not pretty. and just because Alan @HS30-H asked me if there was anything on the globe box still. Got these photos of the Kanji text. So all in all, 1 step closer to being roadworthy and on the road again. Felt good driving it down the street :).

Also the right factory literature documents all these changes and dates and part no.s. You just have to know how to read and interpret the data. Defining any of this as 240z or 260z is wrong anyway. Since it's better to think of the entire range as being an S30z series and then looking at the evolutionary changes based on dates and markets. EG: Our late model 260z's share a lot in common with North American 280z's. Not because they used 280z parts to make our 260z's but because the entire range had changes made in specific dates and to comply with local laws and regulations. Eg: North American cars had catalytic converters. Our cars have the cut out in the trans tunnel to accommodate 1, but never had them fitted.
