    240 Stone Tray

Weird I thought they all had them too. At least my 73 did, my 72's is missing so I need to find another myself. However I was always under the impression it was fitted to all cars and over the years they went missing.

    Queensland Floods

Hope everyone is ok and safe. It must be pretty serious as it's been on the news over here for several days.
  4. I was going to PM you and check everything was ok. Good to know you were just taking a small break. No need to rush. Although I am anxious to see it finished.
  5. Welcome, I've heard not so good things about the Fiat X1/9 although they look cool. Then again you can't always judge a car like that, sometimes people to parrot what they have heard from others without finding out for themselves. Anyhow in terms of replacement I'd say it's common enough that you would be able to go down to radiator specialist and find a replacement. Either that or visit a junk yard. You never know you might find a car that had a new radiator fitted not long before it was wrecked. Could say some of those student pennies. Been there, done that.
  6. Gav240z = Gavin 240z - It works because not many 240z owners and Gavin is not that common for a name I guess. So i rarely can't use it when signing up to websites.
  7. I thought this was true also, or at least it should be. Interestingly motorcycle parts seem to be exempt from import duties. So some parts could be classified as motorbike parts i.e carbies .
  8. Check for rust, rust and rust. That interior is a bit tacky so you might be able to haggle the price a little over that - although most of it should be easy to remedy. Other than that check the engine condition i.e compression and any odd noises. Make sure the turbo is spooling right and not smoky. I'd offer slightly less than 10k and see how you go. It is a 2+2 and they generally get lower prices, but it will come back to the quality of the work done on it and if the guy did most of it himself. Mechanical stuff is easy, it's the body you should be most concerned about. I guarantee an inspection in person will probably reveal minor rust here and there and it won't be as clean and green as in the photos. If you can get it on stands and check for accident damage and chassis rail condition. Also check the battery tray area extensively along with lower rear sills.

Love your car mate. Good to see you get her out and enjoy it in the sun.
  11. Yar looks like it, will wait and see if he replies here, if not I'll delete his account.
  12. Welcome as Craig has mentioned pop down for the BBQ on Friday in Springvale and you'll soon get a good idea of what you are up against. Whilst repair bills might be high for rust, we have several skilled members who I'm sure will be willing to lend a hand and get you on the road. As Craig said work in progress is how most of our cars are and as I'm sure you are aware the Wangan midnight car was. I'm curious what this mechanic Con's last name was? Have a feeling I might just know him.
  13. Just wanted to give a heads up on the front page donations bar. Since we met target and exceeded it by $50 last year I started this month (January) at $125. Web hosting is $175 US dollars per month and since the Aussie dollar is almost even with the Greenback I have placed it at $125 (target for January). $175 - $50 = $125. So next month if you see the bar at $175 you'll know why they are different (month on month). Just want to be as transparent as possible.
  14. It's funny you say that Dimitri I bought a Mazda RX-7 (FD3S) to try and fill the void of not having my 240z over here in Ireland. Whilst I love the RX-7 and it truly is an amazing car. The Datsun is just a whole different experience. Loads of fun and I prefer the styling over almost every other car on the road. I sold a 73 240z about 8 years ago after I bought my current 240z, I still regret selling it. It truly was a great car, just at the time we didn't have a garage built and nowhere to put it. I had stripped it to a shell with the intention of doing a full ground up resto on it. Being a student I simply didn't have the money to fix it up the way I wanted. Now I have the money, but don't have the car. I still have a 240z I guess and will get stuck into fixing her up when I return to Australian (whenever that will be). I guess sometimes in life circumstances change, but there will be another car if you wait patiently enough. I think it's funny that people attach a negative stigmatism to Datsun's in Australia. It's kind of like how everyone think rotary engine's are rubbish and unreliable. It's usually the same people who have never owned either who make those comments. People fear what they don't understand / know or anything that's different and challenges their mind set. Anyway I'm going off topic here. Just keep an eye out and you'll find another car.
  15. Merry Christmas Guys, hope you all have a great new year as well.
  16. Hey guys, I read this last night and didn't know what to say, I've been reading everyone's messages again today and still don't really know what to say. I never met Kyle, and likewise I've never met many of you - however it doesn't really matter because we read each other's posts we interact on almost a daily basis. In my eyes that makes us all friends and in some ways family. So it's really sad when you hear of someone's passing, especially in circumstances like this. I think what's important has already been said, if you ever feel depressed or something is getting you down please talk with friends and family. I can't imagine how he must have been feeling or how anyone must feel when they decide to take their own life. My condolences go out to everyone who knew Kyle better than I and especially to his family. R.I.P Kyle.
  17. His last entry on this thread seemed weird to me. Hope he's ok.
  18. Thanks everyone who has donated this year and helped cover our expenses. Really appreciate it. If I haven't updated your status to Donating Member then please feel free to use the contact form on the site to let me know your login name on the site, the amount you donated and around what date (so I can look it up in PayPal). I'm always catching up on PM's and Emails so apologies if I missed yours it's nothing personal.
  19. Nice to have your own gaff mate. Well done, I'm sure many hours will be spent in that shed.
  20. Damn straight, couldn't agree more with Mr C. To give an example I bought an FD RX-7 in Ireland for about 1/4 of the price it would have cost me in Australia. In Australia they are selling for around 18K all the way up to 40K and then some for modded cars. Even in the US an FD RX-7 is relatively expensive compared with say the UK or Ireland and maybe even Japan. What will work against you with the S30 from the USA is that it's LHD and all cars in Australia are RHD. You might have more luck selling it in Europe as many countries in Europe drive on the same side as the US and the 240z is quite rare in Europe and highly sought after.
  21. Great looking 240z, a real time capsule. I'm sure it won't take much work to get her back on the road. That's 1 of the best colours for a early 240z and she looks very original kudos to you. But I have to ask, why hasn't she seen the light of day in so long?

    Datsun Day 2010

Looks great with those wheels mate. Think I need a set for my Z .
  23. That photo makes me happy. It's good to see someone who enjoyed the car for so long has given it to someone who will continue to enjoy the car for just as long.
  24. Well have fun tomorrow kids and take plenty of photos.
  25. 400 HP at the wheels!!!! Man I'd be scared to drive that thing. Well done, I know it's been a long uphill battle with this conversion.
