  1. Thanks guys, just spoke to a removal company as oppose to a freight company. An important distinction because a freight company just quotes you on the container and no other import fees / customs etc.. I am waiting for a quote from these guys. http://www.careline.ie/index.cfm/page/ireland-uk Will let you guys know how I get on, but after speaking to these guys I feel a lot more confident in going with a professional service like they offer than the freight companies who were not upfront about the sorts of fee's I could incur and the issues you can face if you pack your own stuff etc.. I had to laugh, but man those owners would be livid, wouldn't they?
  2. You missed my comment above . "The vent bonnets on it are also not stock, so it might have some body customisations? Personally I don't like the way the 1/4 window looks at all."
  3. That's a nice looking 2+2 very clean and original, I can see why you want it back. Good luck, seem to remember seeing it for sale at some point (the number plate is familiar) but alas not sure where it is now I'm afraid.
  4. Welcome, George is right they are all 2+2s. Also the rear 1/4 window on that Silver 2+2 looks very odd indeed, it's like someone has been messing with it. Compare it with the 1/4 window profile on this car here: From the other thread... http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,13150.msg137044/topicseen.html#msg137044 The vent bonnets on it are also not stock, so it might have some body customisations? 5. Hi guys, I've had import approval for my car to come back to Australia with me at the end of August. I'm in the process now of trying to sort through different quotes and decide on which company to go with. The problem is some are giving a quote that includes import fees on the Australian end and others are not, making it hard to know what is the better quote. Also I am shipping my personal stuff at the same time, so I'm basically looking to put the car in the container with the personal stuff and import that way. Insurance seems to be a bit hazy also because on 1 hand they are saying everything is insured for loss while it's on the boat, but once it arrives at Sydney and is on the docks insurance stops, my concern is if the car was stolen from the docks? (which I've heard this happened before, but not in Australia, it was a car waiting for export in Japan). I'm just wondering if anyone has any tips or has been through this process before and what you would recommend in terms of a company and what to ask when speaking to them regarding quotes? The other concern is potential damage with the car in the container getting moved around? I'm sure it will be fine, but never know. Any other tips or advice are appreciated. PS: What a headache...

  7. Would love to be there also! Finally back living in Australia by then.
  8. It's good as a photoshop mock up, but please don't actually do this. Seriously..
  9. Since we were talking about the old Silvia. You guys might be interested in this.
  10. Nice work getting all that rust out, if only previous owners did things properly... makes the mind boggle a bit doesn't it? I think you'll know each square inch of this car before you're done with it.
  11. Nice looking engine bay mate.
  12. Would be interested to see the AAMI commercial.
  13. Probably a 2+2 but if it's a 2 seater time to get cracking kids!
  14. I heard they also wanted to make the front slated grill go all the way down below the bumper, but the bean counters put a stop to that also due to cost .
  15. Yeah I did matey, I love both L-series and S20 engine sounds . I was just agreeing that I like the history side of things and sure you can always make improvements using what's available now, including modern engine head porting techniques etc.. but there is something about keeping it 'period' that has it's appeal also.
  16. This is an important point, it's about preserving the past in a way. Working within the constraints of the period and what was available at the time. 1 of my favorite S20 videos is this 1. It's just that exhaust note, you can't beat it. Sure you could turbo the S20 and get more powah! But it would loose something special in the process in my opinion. For the same reason Guitar Collectors love the old 50s and 60s Gibsons vs Modern Gibson Les Paul's or playing that old video game on an emulator is not as good as the real deal vintage console and joystick.
  17. I have actually tried to read this, but couldn't get past the first few pages. I really should read it, but find it uber depressing...
  18. http://datsun-240z-blog.viczcar.com/datsun-zcar-books.html Wick even replied to my blog post, who would have thought?
  19. Looks great always liked that era of Camaro also.
  20. Anyone called him $8 you can't argue with.. Could be a hidden gem though..
  21. Hey Guys, Does anyone know who organises or runs the All Japan Days? Are they members here? http://www.alljapanday.com.au/ https://www.facebook.com/pages/All-Japan-Day/214256251964280
  22. They are actually interested in Japanese Car Culture in Australia. I haven't probed for more details yet, but perhaps they are also going to cover Aussie cars as part of the segment?
  23. My 2 cents, if you want to give it a go yourself. Get a practice panel first and see how it turns out. Small investment and you'll soon find out if you're motivated to do a whole car.
  24. As the others have said above, welcome and looking forward to your pictures.
