  1. What is the engine head and block number stamped? F54/P90 or N42/N42?
  2. Looks great, I love the paint colour in particular, really works well on the Z shape.
  3. Hi Mike, I was trying to find them earlier and couldn't, but looking for something else today I stumbled across these, hooray! I still think it's different to the UK spec 1, this has more of an aggressive lip on it.
  4. Exactly, with an SR20 this 1 is listed at 12K. http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/ipswich-region/cars-vans-utes/datsun/1030144202 With an L20B at 5k http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/campbelltown/cars-vans-utes/1971-datsun-1600-with-3-months-rego/1026514735 Another at 6.5k http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/doncaster-east/cars-vans-utes/1972-datsun-1600-sedan/1013442949 Plenty of projects for $1-2k also.... Compared to early rotor coupe's they are dirt cheap... Another car that has become dirt cheap is R33 GTST - but they are common as muck. http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/kaleen/cars-vans-utes/97-nissan-skyline-r33-gtst/1030216626 (looks clean) Still about 10 years ago 300zx's, 180sx, 200sx, RX7s, GTO's etc.. were all big money. Now you can get them all relatively cheap it seems.
  5. Amazing Dyno Video.
  6. Lol its great. A little sad too. Saw it last weekend.
  7. Get in 240K for $5k http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/brisbane-city/other-automotive/datsun-240k-coupe-needs-to-go-asap/1029922793 Rusty but...
  8. 1 advantage of the old 280ZX would be to modify the EFI system and update it using something like a cheap MegaSquirt (replace AFM or MAP sensor?), I've always wanted to do something like that for the learning experience and the old ZX has very basic EFI which makes it ripe for it in my opinion. I know you didn't ask about other cars, so you may not be interested, but I've always fancied a 510 (AKA Datsun 1600) - you get the simple L-series and they are cheap too! 4 seats, L-series, it's a Datsun .
  9. I imagine the biggest dilemna with Gumtree is finding someone who would be willing to send you parts overseas and ship them to you. I'm not sure if you would know this but an old Aussie Film called "The Big Steal" features a Nissan Cedric. Albeit it appears to be the older style model, and I'm not sure if the humour would cross the cultural divide but I love the film myself.
  10. Haha, they probably thought it was an English sports car, in which case it probably wouldn't have made it.
  11. Yeah they are dirt cheap right now for what you get. I can't believe what the 300zx and FDs sold for new in Australia. Never thought I'd own 1 of either just always seemed out of reach. I also think the 2JZ Supras are good value. Another car I've considered. Man I wish I had a bigger garage lol.... The 300zx appeals more than a 350z especially the twin turbo versions. Just don't get 1 with a ghastly bodykit .
  12. I've seen some nice Z32's about lately and that 90s supercar look has it's appeal. I'd want a 2 seater turbo though, not a 4 seater. Just looks nicer and the N/A versions don't inspire me much! If you can find a good Z32 I'd go for that, Z31's in good condition now would be hard to find and their styling hasn't come back in vogue just yet, at least not for me. I know a Z32 could empty your wallet but if you buy a good 1 they should be fine, you'd think? It's a bit of a gamble, but $5k isn't much to play with and I'd say a good 1 will be more expensive than that. But you never know, you could get someone desperate to offload their car for cash and grab a bargain? A 280zx would be far cheaper to run, but you have to worry about rust and that can be expensive to fix! Damn you though, you got me looking at Z32s on Gumtree haha. These 2 caught my eye. http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/northfield/cars-vans-utes/1989-nissan-300zx-coupetwin-turbo/1030145519 http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/northgate/cars-vans-utes/nissan-300zx-twin-turbo-fairlady-/1029953079 Having never owned 1 I don't know what goes wrong and what it takes to work on it? What usually goes wrong? Motor go boom boom? I know they can have ECU issues and faults that are a bitch to diagnose. They remind me of 90s era lambo's in terms of their stance and width, but I've always felt they are a bit of a Fat Lady Z as opposed to a Fairlady Z
  13. Always great to meet another Z head with a common interest. I've met quite a few randomly out on the streets over the years. It makes my day when I see 1 driving on the road.
  14. Good to see a Z out doing what it does best!
  15. Welcome, I've seen the odd Cedric posted on Gumtree.com.au could try have a search there. By the way Finland has some of the greatest hair metal bands at the moment! .
  16. Good to know I've seen a few JDM cars with the 240z style rear lights and 260z style dash so I thought it was a transitional year car change, but obviously these things can be changed and we all know the 240z rear lights are best haha . What's strange is that it has 240z style gauges though! No Volt Gauge! It does have the taller rear shock towers though, which is what later 260z/280z bodies in foreign markets had. Black engine bays don't look dirty!
  17. I guess he's a business?....Doesn't mean he'll sell it at that price though and it's not a Datsun 260z, it's an S31 Fairlady Z. Hence the '260z style dashboard' with early '240z' style tail lamps.
  18. Depends how you look at it, I only live around the corner from Edward Lee's now, so I'd be happy to inspect it if people want to get an idea of what it's like (outside of photos)? It is a pretty high price based on those photos. I think the red 1 he had was better value.
  19. In Ireland I used to see lots of MR2's converted to Ferrari's - I always felt a bit sad inside... http://cars.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/ferrari-f355/5551356 http://cars.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/ferrari-replica/5519493 http://cars.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/ferrari-355-spyder-replica/5335409 http://cars.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/ferrari-mr2-nctd-and-taxed-/5784367 http://cars.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/ferrari-f355-berlinetta/5797134 http://cars.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/ferrari-replica/4830718 http://cars.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/mr2-kitcar-ferrari-sold-sold-sold/5767112 I mean, why bother? As soon as you look at the interior the game is up. Then again, I see lots of people driving in the city centre on a Friday night here in their Ferrari's. It's all about status isn't it? "Look at what I have?", when you see men in their 50's / 60's behaving like this, you just think it's sad really. It seems most people who buy these cars or build them like this are doing it not because they are necessarily automotive enthusiasts but want to flaunt a particular image. Surely a car like a proper Ferrari can't really be enjoyed in the city, I know that driving my RX-7 or 240z in traffic does my head in, would much rather be enjoying it on a scenic mountain drive or along the coast etc.. I have no problem with certain replica's like the Shelby Cobra, Daytona Coupe, Ferrari GTO etc.. simply because the originals are unobtainium, but the lambo or the Ferrari replica's just makes me want to cry inside a bit.
  20. I don't get how this car is still for sale. It's so cheap, it must having something seriously wrong with it?
  21. Did you manage to source this in the end?
  22. http://www.kameariusa.com/L6_DatsunValveCover.php Just found this matey!
  23. The overall dimensions of each are the same in 2 seater config. The differences are in trim and rear lights / dashboards etc.. but for the most part it's the same car. I mentioned a 280z if you were thinking of importing a US based car as this would be LHD and you can get them a bit cheaper than what 240z's are fetching these days. The 240z will always be the most desirable model from a collectabiltity point of view, but if you're just looking for a car you can drive and enjoy I'd go for a newer 280z - less likely to be rusty and comes with fuel injection that can be upgraded / improved etc..
  24. I sure hope sex sells because this car needs all the help it can get. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Datsun-Z-Series-Convertible-1973-datsun-240-z-fairlady-daytona-coupe-ferrari-style-road-race-drift-/331042570496 Not sure who in their right mind would bother to ship it internationally either....different strokes for different folks I guess?
  25. George/Yorgos www.pistonheads.co.uk and carandclassic.co.uk tend to be good for cars in Europe. http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/datsun/240z http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/list/68/240z/ You can pick up a good condition 280z quite cheap in the states and in good rust free condition. So if you're not looking for a 240z per se, a 280z is almost the same car but often quite a bit cheaper. You can of course get rid of the bumpers and have yourself a fuel injected classic!
