  1. Buy it now is pretty high for what looks like lights in need of some TLC. But you don't see them listed on eBay very often.
  2. 260z with RB26 at the end of the video.

    New business

It sounds to me like this guy might indeed have the talent but the business management side of things is lacking. If he was in too deep over his head with work and couldn't cope I think he bit off more than he can chew. This is sadly why I think so many shops go under or you end up with sub-standard work. They would love to do things properly but at the end of the day they also need money coming in and have overheads. At least you got your money back, yes you have lost time which does suck. I never pay up front these days, maybe a deposit but I wait until I've seen the finished product before handing over cash. I got burnt once before and it was not a good experience, ended up taking the fella to court and winning and still not seeing a dime. If I do commit to cash in advance I pay as the project goes along, so I can see progress being made.
  4. I have always hated these holes that serve no purpose on the AU delivered 260z's weld her up.
  5. Certainly looks complete, would definitely require inspection for body work condition etc.. Seems we have had a few cars come out of the wood work lately, the lead up to Christmas perhaps? Good time to be looking for a project car anyway.
  6. Not as far as I'm aware, it was just these 2 that were customised in this fashion. I actually think they are ok, very 1980s but similar in design to the original seats. Perhaps the colours are a bit loud though?
  7. Looks like a neat car, saw it on eBay last night. I'm 1 of the 39 watchers lol. I'd say the problem with this V8 is it's weight. An alloy V8 like the LS(X) types would be much better for handling. Having said that I have no idea what this motor weighs and what power it outputs. Could be lots of fun. I think 12k for a rust free shell is a good price myself. You can always sell the V8 to recoup costs.
  8. http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,6875.0.html Build thread?
  9. I just came across this today. http://www.speedhunters.com/2011/01/car_feature_gt_gt_mastermind_spirit_rei_odyvia/ I like the combination of new and old. I actually really like the dashboard etc.. Thought the L-series might get a few people excited also!
  10. Knew I'd seen that Z somewhere before. http://forums.nicoclub.com/2009-240z-build-t403961.html
  11. That is actually what I was thinking mate. I'd love to get it properly made up (looking as OEM as possible). As I'm sure others would be also interested. Depending on how it works out I might try and do more projects like this to offer hard to get parts to the Z-car community. If there is 1 thing I love about early 240z's it's that diamond pattern interior. Mine was replaced with carpet in the 80s I think. Not bad, but not my cup of tea either. I recently got some door trims - which I'm excited to fit up. I'm also thinking of getting rid of the Recaro seats And replacing them with something more period correct. But I should start a build thread before I go off topic here .
  12. Sounds good mate, I should be able to meet up with you to collect. My mobile is redacted. Is it clean or nice and filthy? Just so I know if I'll need some old rags/clothes to lay down in the car etc..
  13. How did you score that mate?
  14. Hi guys, I'm just putting up a list of wanted items which I hope to accumulate over a period of time, these are parts I'm missing to make my 72 more original. 1. OEM 5 speed gear knob for 240z 2. Drivers Door Mirror for (RHD) 240z. - I know you can get LHD ones, but I want a proper AU market 1 . 3. Undertray for 240z (goes below radiator) - most Z's are missing these, but they help with cooling etc.. 4. Diamond Vinyl - any condition - can be ripped / torn / dirty - just be complete so I can get replica made etc.. - needed for trans tunnel, rear of stowage bins, strut towers, full set. 5. Datsun front fender badges - the ones that sit near the lower front sills behind the front wheels.
  15. How do you find the ZX mate? I've only ever driven a less than stellar example - which was a carby fed turbo set up (pinging it's head off) with shot suspension. So not the best example. Felt like a gutless boat. How does it compare with driving the earlier Z's?
  16. Hey guys, I'm well aware that winding the clocks back is as old as time in the used car business, and I'm also aware that the odometer reading on most old Nissan's like the 240z is not really a big deal. However if someone is going to do that sort of thing, I'd be very wary about what else they are willing to do or hide on such vehicles. So if anyone is looking to buy a classic Zed or any other historic Nissan for example through an importer - as you guys said. Caveat emptor. I figure I would post this to warn others who may be interested in finding their dream vehicle and are a little more green in this area than the more experienced amongst us (which seems to be all those who replied above). I agree interior condition is a good indicator of how many km's have been travelled, but I have also recently seen efforts to hide wear and tear through the purchase of new steering wheels, seat covers, gear knobs etc.. So always do due diligence and I can't stress this enough, don't get caught up in the emotional side of buying your dream car. I know it's easier said than done, but often a moment of clarity like speaking to another member, asking the forum etc.. can be good advice. Of course sometimes you can miss a great deal also if you hesitate.
  17. Yeah I suspect it's not a 1 owner car anymore. I seem to recall it's been repainted recently also. Which is kind of a shame - as the new owner I'd like to see how the body work was before the repaint.
  18. Another bloody sunroof. Otherwise could be a great car. 1 owner is rare for a Z.
  19. Hi Guys, I have it on pretty good authority that certain dealers are advertising cars with lower km's on their clocks than what they have actually travelled. The astute amongst us will know what I mean when I say read between the lines. http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/news/nsw/reading-the-riot-act-to-dodgy-car-dealers-over-odometer-tricks/story-fni0cx12-1226759295622 Certain used car dealers on Parramatta Road in Sydney have been caught out quite a few times. They can of course get out of it, if they deny knowledge of this happening it would seem. If you're thinking of buying a used Japanese car you can get an Odometer check done using a service like this. https://www.facebook.com/Odometercheck
  20. Not sure what this is in reference to, but I've had 1 of their members reach out to me re: Nissan / Datsun Nationals 2015 and we are going to put up some info soon. Am I missing some background here?
  21. Yeah that made me chuckle also. I love a red Z but it seems everyone painted over the original hues to have their own red Z. Can't blame them, but the original colours definitely have that nostalgic feel.
  22. That sand blast cabinet had me laughing in the office. Perhaps because I was also thinking of this.
  23. What wheels were they mate? They look very SSR Mesh in style, but slightly different like perhaps locally made Aussie wheels?
  24. @Vorn - Safari Gold rocks my sock off. So I approve of this build direction .
  25. It took 4 years to post with a build like that? For a long time I've been thinking about deleting old accounts with 0 posts, glad I didn't now. Who's Aladdin Cave were those photos taken in? I see a few Z's and parts in there.
