  1. Hey Steve, let me know what you want for it, the console that is? And if you have a good roof skin let me know also. PS: I was looking at your Dash restoration thread. I was going to PM you about it anyway. http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/interior-s30/20818-240z-dash-removal.html#post177528 So I'll send 1 in a minute. Might add the details to this thread here: http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,1618.0.html
  2. Bit of a shame hey Scoot, that it rotted away like that. Notice the amp gauge? Only early 260z's had that before switching to the volt meter. Looks like it has the original head unit also .
  3. @Nck - I found this photo. Which is a close up of the center console trim piece and the blanking plates. I believe US models had 'optional' rear defogger switches (probably much like the AU cars) and the parker switch was used in the home market cars.
  4. Where are you located mate? Dee Why says it's an hour away from you on Google Maps, but I guess traffic is a factor also. The only way to learn is give it a go, so don't worry I played around with carbs many times and had no idea what I was doing, but slowly you figure it out. Of course thanks to the Internet it's much easier to find info on tuning them than it was 16 or so years ago. What is the F3 by the way? Give me a call 0434 520 498 we can have a chat, might be able to come down this weekend.
  5. http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/thomastown/cars-vans-utes/datsun-240z-/1038072263 240z on Gumtree. Auto, rusty and no engine looks like a 73 model. Could be a good project. Owners wants offers so no idea what it is worth. I suspect it won't last long though.
  6. I'll pass on rust patch for now. Starting a course next week at TAFE so will see how we go.
  7. By the way for $20 I'll take a punt on that patch repair panel also lol...
  8. If George doesn't want Garnish I'll go for it if it is straight?
  9. Yeah if I get a look I'll go over them. I have a tool that shows air flow across carbs.
  10. 260z 2 seater in NZ looks great. http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/nissan/auction-682965872.htm Priced accordingly at $35k
  11. How much of an advantage would this offer over the regular non-cross flow head? It's still limited to 2 values and SOHC. I notice that the angle of the carbs on the cross flow head looks like it would cause less turbulence as air enters the combustion chamber (less turns) but what other advantages are there? Port shape and positioning?
  12. Take photos of it and we will be able to give you a better fair price estimate. It's too hard to tell from the description alone.
  13. It also sounds like it might be a fouled spark plug from a mixture that is too rich. Have you checked the spark plugs? What colour are they post a pic if you can?
  14. Hey mate, I might be able to take a look for you? I'm in Five Dock. Is your car still running the factory twin S.Us? I have the Ztherapy CDs which contains videos on rebuilding and tuning these carbs which might also help.
  15. I don't suppose you have a method for removing a rusted in screw on a plastic indicator lens? For example I have 1 of these indicator lens' that has a snapped off screw in it. It's a shame because it would probably polish up nicely and be re-usable but I can't think of a way of extracting the rusted screw without destroying it.
  16. Totally agree mate, I just find this stuff so interesting. The thing is most people don't really know about this stuff with regard to the Nissan's they just see the 240z and assume they all came with the standard L-series engine and single cam heads. I also really wish O.S Giken made the Twin Cam kit more available. I don't know why they don't really, surely there is enough L-GATA motors running about to meet supply / demand?
  17. It's your choice, but since it's such an early car and you still have the original L24 I'd be tempted to put it back to the factory assigned colour myself. This might help sway you . http://www.studiotimecapsule.com/restoration_of_twiggys_toyota_2000gt PS: Can you believe a 'professional' restoration shop bogged up a 2000GT like that?
  18. George here is some fresh Safari Gold inspiration . I just love this colour the more I see it on Zeds. When we finish our projects we will have to do a similar photo yes?
  19. http://dattosankureiji.wordpress.com/2012/11/12/datsun-ly-goodness/#more-1606 I thought I'd share this, love the look of that engine head and triple carb set up. Has some other good photos if you look around also.
  20. If anyone has the link to the MSA kit please post it here? Their site map is pretty useless.
  21. Just an FYI, this 'could' be what they look like... http://s1112.photobucket.com/user/dsommer479/media/IMG_0130_zps7fc65e29.jpg.html http://s1112.photobucket.com/user/dsommer479/media/IMG_0132_zpsb1a86ee4.jpg.html http://s1112.photobucket.com/user/dsommer479/media/IMG_0131_zps7bdc1b0c.jpg.html Found it here. http://forums.hybridz.org/topic/116293-head-light-buckes-spoiler-console-sun-visors-rad-shrouds/ In which case it's missing the coin holder hole and rear screw holes and I'm not sure how you would fix the choke/throttle to the console without modifying it quite a bit.. If it is the MSA reproduction then I'd be a bit disappointed with it to be honest, why bother doing it, if you're not going to do it properly. Surely it's not that much harder to create it properly? It would certainly go some way toward explaining why the originals (in shabby shape) are still getting decent money used. Don't throw anything out is all I'll say!
  22. Awesome mate, made it a sticky also. You're right on Z-cars they sheer off cleanly on the fenders bastard things!
  23. http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=181316075868&globalID=EBAY-AU 260z 2 seated rusty but complete worth a look I'd say. No sunroof lol...
  24. No problem, there was another set with the base also that went for about $200 AU, I was going to bid on them but it will have to wait until more pennies are in the bank account next month lol... What will you do about the bases?
  25. PS30 gear knob. http://page13.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/r103578704 Only a cool $500+ AU.
