  1. Hi guys, I've been looking at a few different tap and die sets and trying to determine what is best value for money in the long term. I'll be using a tape and die set to chase the threads on my engine rebuild. I'm sure I'll also need them for stripped threads / broken bolts etc.. as my build progresses. I DO NOT want something that will break after a few uses, or do a poor job. I suspect the set Bunnings (frost) are flogging are like that. Cheap made in China garbage is what I want to avoid. I'm also wondering where is a good place to find used good quality tradesmen style tools? I know there is Gumtree/eBay but surely there is a way to find used tools from people retiring or changing profession? I've heard of Grey's Online before. http://www.graysonline.com/search.aspx?q=tap+and+die But I also don't know what brands to go for or stay away from... I'm also going to be looking for some Micrometers, Torque Wrench, dial gauge etc.. so hence the reason I ask.
  2. Well after watching that I really don't know what I expected. It could have been far worse, but honestly to call that a 432 replica. Well I don't know.... These shows are always the same formula, go around throw around big ideas, do some brand whoring of particular part suppliers and then do a little before and after. That front air damn and the whole "432-R" look was so off-key it made me a little sad. Mainly because there will be a bunch of kids installing said parts on their 240z's and calling them 432s now.... without understanding what a 432 or 432-R really is.
  3. Hello new best friend haha.
  4. HLS30 00089 appears on a show called Garage Squad. I hope they don't 'tart' it up and keep it period as possible. *Edit full episode here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fXMHl9qMY6Q
  5. Ohhhh I likey, restoration of what others would otherwise consider junk. Did you buy a sandblast cabinet George?
  6. Hi Guys, This is the chrome strip that runs along the line of the car (not the part the window winds up into), it sits at the bottom of the window frame. As seen here: The horizontal piece, which has the rubber strip running along it. I need a drivers side trim for a 2 seater, unless anyone know how easy it is to modify shorten a 2+2 version? Sooner would be better than later, as I need it to determine exactly where to cut excess off my door skin. Cheers,
  7. Ahhh sorry don't have any spare of those. Most of the wiring in that area is pretty average these days anyway. Perhaps make a new loom? The only challenge will be the connectors.
  8. Do you mean the fender indicator or the lower valance?
  9. That photo above is a later 260z door with latch correct Tai? Here are some early 240z style door photos for reference. http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,4189.msg155293.html#msg155293 Early 240z style door. eBay door. (75 260z 2 seater?) The circular cut out at the bottom looks different.
  10. I meant boring in the sense that it's been done and takes no imagination, where as the rotary is a unique powerplant and is very capable with the right turbo set up and tune.. I do admit though that a V8 swap has crossed my mind before.
  11. Yeah I'm confused also, time for photos of said door perhaps?
  12. Perhaps you're looking at the wrong Marque? Even if you don't like the rotor, you can put a lazy, boring, unoriginal V8 in it. For me the FD is the closest you'll come to an early S30z for a relatively modern car. If you get a 99+ spec model you get dual air-bags, abs etc.. They are a bit harder to work on with a standard engine bay and parts can be a tad expensive for what they are.
  13. The S30z already has a side intrusion bar, like you I was always under the impression our cars didn't have them - until I took a door apart. http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,4189.15.html
  14. L Block RB head? O.S Giken but perhaps more attainable? Apparently this blog has more info> http://spark88.blog.fc2.com/ http://spark88.blog.fc2.com/blog-category-60.html The user has a lot of other cool videos. https://www.youtube.com/user/sato1511/videos
  15. Look like the Safari Gold car here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Datsun-Z-Series-240Z-DATSUN-240Z-FULLY-RESTORED-NUMBERS-MATCHING-GREAT-CONDITION-/201196653430 Sold for $38K+ ? Even though it had a few incorrect parts on it, like 260z rear trim in boot, 260z air box, 260z seats etc.. This 918 orange car is quite nice looking, so we shall see what she gets.
  16. Dealer fitted option in the US. Not a fan...
  17. I saw that car yesterday, looks quite good. Not a huge fan of the marketing guy - however at least he's provided a lot of detail and photos. Which is better than most eBay ads. Does anyone want to hazard a guess as to what it might fetch? I think it's definitely worth $35k+ in the US market, but it's always hard to predict their market.
  18. Just be happy he did that to a Porsche and not an S30z.
  19. Must be a common thing to break these, I did it also. Trying to break a 20 year gasket seal . I'll have to re-tap mine, but on the underside of this is a sealed area and I'm worried about metal shavings when I drill it out and re-tap the thread. If you figure out what kind of adhesive is used on the underside and how to remove the old stuff let us know?
  20. Cool little video of a RHD S30z, somewhere I'm guessing in Asia?
  21. Hi guys, I'm looking to import a pair of car seats from NZ (probably weigh about 15kg each, so about 30kg in total). However I'm wondering if anyone can recommend a freight service or has any suggestions on who to use? I'm guessing someone here has imported stuff from over NZ to AU before? Cheers, Gavin
  22. Looks ok to me, I'll take them. Do you want to send me a PM for payment details and I'll let you know what address to post to if that's all ok?
  23. Best form of hot-rod, stock looking on the outside, party on the inside . Looks like a tidy little car and a great colour also.
  24. I'm interested, can you post a couple of photos? Any difference between OEM and these that you are aware of? Just want to make sure they fit without needing to modify them as Datsun used several handles between models that all look the same eg: 120Y (B210)
