Probably Marc and John in their Zeds on the way to the BBQ? http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,14789.msg161238/topicseen.html#msg161238 Think they met up before the BBQ and drove down together .

Do yourself a massive favor and fill in the for sale template + upload some photos. http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,1449.0.html

Good to see you got another car, there is a bit of work there alright but nothing that can't be resolved with a bit of work and I'm sure you're capable of doing it right. I know Ryan didn't want to sell it so glad to see it went to a good home. Especially after you missed out on #150 (sorry about that!).

Christmas bargain pick it up! -
Records were not that carefully kept back then I'm afraid. I don't think it's possible to know this without any documentation that came with the car or details of the original owner etc.. Unless someone in Nissan Australia can help us find such records.

Hi Everyone, I'm wondering if anyone here has successfully repaired the diamond vinyl material used in our S30z's with success? There is a few videos on Youtube showing how to repair vinyl trim but they are kind of infomercial (like this: ) and not very helpful for a DIY person. At least none of which I found yet. I'm installing a vinyl kit I sourced that was removed from a car many years ago and is in very good condition with the exception of 1 or 2 minor blemishes and 1 tear (no missing chunks), I'd like to repair the tear before glueing it down. Cheers,
-
Hi Guys, I can bring these to the BBQ tomorrow if there is any interest? They are the strut tower pieces, and the part that covers the wheel house. Asking $100 for these, there is a minor rip/tear in 1 side otherwise good. I also have a spare luggage riser trim piece again a minor tear in it, but not a huge deal. This is an OEM piece with the diamond vinyl pattern on it. Don't have a photo of it handy. Asking $50 for this piece.

Is it not important to know what your car is worth, so you can properly insure it if something happens to it? I had to debate with insurance how much HS30 000150 was worth. Showing them the eBay auction of HLS30 000189 recently helped change their mind. Don't get me started on the Trading Post and their logic, they probably still think cars should be sold via their printed paper. There is a reason Carsales.com.au is #1 in Australia. Besides they cater to every car, not specialised vehicles like the S30z - which IS a global market of interested buyers. I've had people contact me from all over the world looking for an S30z. Train wrecks yes, but early cars and there appears to be a market for those in particular at the minute. I do post clean US examples also. Some of them are going for big money. Factor in the cost of restoring a car in Australia with local wages and then compare a restored example in the US with all the correct factory parts on it. Even after you import, convert to RHD etc.. you're likely to get a bargain and for those that don't want to spend the time restoring their S30z they have a turn key car ready to enjoy. That seemed to be the way I saw it also, like where would I draw the line with international S30z's? Would I only post RHD foreign cars like those in Japan or NZ? Or should it only be Australian cars? How about a Fairlady Z in Australia? Or should it work on distance? Like a RHD car in the UK would be excluded but a NZ car ok? Honestly I don't see the big deal, I thought I was doing people a favour posting these cars along with images so that others looking to buy can go through the thread and see how values have changed and know what is a good deal and what to jump on? If you go back to the start of this thread you'll see how values have changed. That's a pretty powerful tool and much better than Bloody RedBook values which seem to have stayed static since 1995. If it really divides the community perhaps I can start a separate thread for foreign S30z's for sale? -

This is the quote I received from Irony Lady Imports. I was looking to import a clean US car that came up a while back. Here is the quote breakdown I received. Hi Craig / Kristian, I was recently watching this car. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Datsun-Z-Series-240Z-series-1-AWESOME-240Z-240-z-RUST-FREE-JDM-Classic-Low-Mile-Collector-EXCELLENT-/161224166741 It's a little rough in places, but otherwise looks solid and honest for it's age. I am wondering if it's possible to tell me what it would cost to bring in such a car to Australia? For compliance I'm aware that the rear lights might need changing to the amber indicator lights for compliance but it doens't require conversion to RHD being that it's over 30 years old. Are you able to let me know what it's roughly likely to cost? Be careful of other vendors as they are not always upfront with the total costs involved of purchasing a car and getting it registered here. -

I would have thought it was self explanatory but since it's not allow me to elaborate. I'm sure there are dozens of us who are interested in the same thing on here. DOZENS! 1. As mentioned it's indicative of a greater trend. The US market has always been saturated with choice compared with everywhere else in the world. As a result their prices have always been softer. Lately though I've noticed their prices are starting to uptick relatively rapidly, I think a big part of it is interest in other Japanese marques like the Toyota 2000GT that sold for over 1M and the Hakosuka GTR and Mazda Cosmo's selling in the $200,000 + range (which I personally think are bargain prices). 2. I watch a lot of markets for parts and cars to get a feel for the way things are going. I also watch cars in Japan, Europe etc.. it is a hobby. Just like this site, like my restoration. I'm interested in all facets of these machines. I have owned an S30z since I was 17 (1998) and nobody else in my close circle of friends really understood my fascination with them. It is validating to see that views are changing and people are feeling nostalgic for these cars. When I was in School I used to get given a hard time for wanting an old 'Datsun'. 3. In particular I like to watch early S30z's. Since they are the very first of the breed and what has lead to the Nissan 370z today. They are coveted for a reason, they were simple, reliable, and a pure sporting experience. With each succession of the series in my opinion they started to loose what was great about the first examples. I think others feel the same way also, hence the reason early cars are attracting a lot of interest. 4. There are not many RHD S30z's around these days, so at some point people are going to consider importing an example from the US as the most viable option as opposed to trying to find 1 to restore here. 5. Would you be offended if I posted genuine PS30's for sale here also? How about HS30-H (Fairlady 240ZG's?) or perhaps a genuine 'works race car'? I think the community would be interested. 6. This thread is about cars for sale, either locally or globally. Do you ever visit Bring-A-Trailer? Most of those are US barn find type cars. But I still find it interesting myself and I'm sure their web-analytics indicates many others do also. -
Oh well done. HS30 would indicate an Aussie market car. That fender mirror seems to have only been used in our market also. Is the other side missing or blanked off? Looks like a good example and an early car also, many of the early cars are not in great shape now. A register is set up here: http://www.wazregister.com/index.php?title=ANZIS30_Register List of cars here: http://www.wazregister.com/index.php?title=View_ANZIS30_Register_Cars It doesn't look like the car has been entered into the register before. How did you come across the car?

Welcome, finding history isn't easy. It sounds like you might have an S30z (Japanese Home Market car) if it has a 'Jap plate' on it. The first thing to do is post some photos. Take as many detailed photos as you like, we may be able to determine if it's a Japanese home market car or Australian delivered car that way. There is a chance that someone on here previously owned it many moons ago. With S30z's many people who previously owned 1 are looking to own 1 again or have bought another years down the track so many cars change hands within the same cluster of people. What is the engine and chassis numbers? With regard to compliance plates, my car HS30 000150 has an AU compliance plate but I'm told it wasn't common to find a compliance plate on 1970 cars as it was something that was just introduced around that time frame. Again your VIN and engine number will help us further.

By the way he's got that car advertised as a 1969 production car, but I'm doubtful it was... http://www.classiczcars.com/topic/6707-production-number-for-1969/ I'd say it's an early 70 model. -

Calendar Clock Suit Early 260z or possibly 240z also?
gav240z replied to gav240z's topic in Parts and Tools for Sale
Sale on hold for now, sending this to Ron at Zclocks.com for evaluation. I'll more than likely have it restored and modified to suit a 240z. But if you're interested and own a 260z let me know before we modify it from it's bolt in status!
