  2. An insight into "unrestored" cars.

  5. I'll bet it will be bought by a speculator looking to flip.
  6. Bring a Trailer Dusty Barn Find. http://bringatrailer.com/listing/1971-datsun-240z-17/
  7. Biggest disappointment with this article is that it doesn't talk much about the 2/2 with the Grande Nose. Caption simply reads. Below: The real show stealer was Datsun's 260z - a 2+2 in the E-type tradition. Let's hope it doesn't meet with the same fate as the Jaguar - discontinued this year. You can see the banner behind that says Fairlady 260z 2by2 This article was published January 1974, so it's likely the event happened around (October 1973?) perhaps? It was the Tokyo Motorshow (20th Anniversary) *Edit here we go. 30th of October 1973. http://www.tokyo-motorshow.com/en/history/20.html Just goes to show how popular the 2+2 concept was at the time and for that reason I really feel the 2+2's get a hard time in hindsight. Great car. See 2:50 mark, a couple of Japanese Models in yellow are talking about the car. Kind of feel sad it never happened.
  8. This car was red, found another article featuring the same car. Interestingly I can chase back a couple of adverts for LMJ-974 to here The Age in 1975. https://www.newspapers.com/newspage/121951033/ https://www.newspapers.com/newspage/121372544/ Brad Boyden Datsun In Essendon (see more details about them here) Right after that article is the infamous Z432-R article. Which ends rather abruptly, I believe Alan (HS30-H) debunked the myth that it was a 432-R and was in actual fact just a regular PS30 (Z432). See here. Larger images here.
  9. What sort of RPM would your engine sit at on a freeway with a 4.4 diff and tall 5th gear (say 280zx gearbox 5th)?
  10. Not sure if Ron has reached out to you yet, but is there anyway you could implement some kind of variable resistor into your circuit so that fine adjustments can be made to speed up or slow down a clock? The Oscillator in the photo is actually using Greg's and (Monkey Man) Eric's board at the moment because their's has an adjustment feature that allows fine tuning. It's great to have multiple options, would be even better if both had an adjustable pot on them.
  11. I believe Jay had reproductions here. https://jdm-car-parts.com/blogs/news/16149728-fact-about-factory-muffler-on-early-datsun-240z
  12. Still 1 in Blacktown Sydney and another down Dromana way in Victoria. I took my first 73 240z to the drive in (Dromana) when still on my L-plates, and I remember driving it back at night to Rosebud/Rye and looking at the gauges in the car thinking "how cool is this!". That feeling has never worn off.
  13. Ever wondered what 2+2 looks like with earlier style tail lamps? I've always wondered.
  14. 40mm Solex / Mikuni's https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/upper-coomera/engine-engine-parts-transmission/carburettor/1142387318 I called the guy and asked, was hoping they would be 44's. Still good price. $200.
  15. Le Mans 1971, lots of automotive pornography in here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gIsTyFX3GfQ
  16. Nice 2+2 here in what looks like GP Maroon.
  17. It would have been a GS31 with fuel injected L20A, power mirrors, electric windows etc.. The 2.6ltr lump was not available in Japan (or was for a very brief period before it was immediately recalled as Alan mentioned here and here). Like this. (you can see window swiches on door trim and power mirror controls under steering wheel) column etc..
  18. That is the Niles clock out of an S31 Fairlady Z. Suitable for later 260z's as typeface suits those dials better. Only found in Japanese Market cars to my knowledge.
  19. Yes I believe late 260z clocks which are Kanto Seiki based (which is what Ron refers to as 280z clocks) have the same Quartz set up as the 280zx Analog clocks. Although I've not pulled them apart to confirm for myself. I also recently found this "Datsun" clock, but I'm not sure what car it's out of, but it appears to be the same unit as the 280zx Analog clocks. If anyone can tell me what it's out of that would be another source of the Quartz movement clocks. It makes sense that Nissan/Datsun used the same manufacturer and mechanism across all their cars. So not unusual that this part is the same in multiple models.
  20. Finally got the clock the other week mate (it was sent with another Rally Clock I had refurbished). Just giving this a bump because I think I have another couple spare rebuilt Quartz movement clocks to sell. Just gotta check how many I've got for my own S30Z's first.
  21. Triple Mikuni 44s http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/122420489463 Buy it now: US $4,500.00 Approximately AU $5,892.75 Ouch...
  22. Nope, but it has been the laggard for S30Z values until recently, now it seems their values are moving past our own in some respects. Part of it is due to a strong USD but also seeing some of the later 280z's do well at auction which I find surprising as I kind of view them like our late 260z's over here which often struggle to get higher prices compared with earlier 240z's. When it comes to S30Z's I find their market the least interesting in terms of models and options they got. Of course Japan had the most interesting cars. .
  23. An original 280z (2 seater) in the US just sold for $36k USD (~$47,000 AUD) at today's rate. http://bringatrailer.com/listing/1976-datsun-280z-3/ I'll add more details later, but that's a good price for a 280z in North America.
