Yeah I saw them. Certainly looks good value. Let us know if they match the description ie quality/originality when they arrive huh?

+1 let us know what they are like when you get them. I've seen similar styles on Yahoo! Auction.

I will be interested in their UV stability over time.

We see a lot of "copy" lens used in crash repairs that fade after 12 months or so.

You guys seem to be implying that our zeds actually leave the garage....

Haha - wouldn't matter in Sydney as given the recent weather we have forgotten want the sun looks like.

Those seals dont look like OEM ones at all is my only gripe. I rang up about them yesterday and they come from China or somewhere similar as a complete unit. I tried to buy the chrome strips but they don't separate.

What is people's opinions on running repro parts like this that dont look like the OEM component in regard to the housing?

The original lenses are quite solid and sturdy, I have a couple of sets of 240z tail lights in various states of condition. I'm going to try rejuvenate them with plastic polish and perhaps clear coat? You can get the chrome trim piece for about $150 US I've seen them on eBay and a couple of other suppliers in the states.

The only problem with the original lenses is that some get hairline cracks in them over the years that won't polish out and I'm not sure what could be done to get around this.

Overall these look like a good buy, but you may find the quality not up to OEM.

Good second hand sets go on Yahoo! auctions for between $300-$400 AU even though there is plenty of replica units available on there also. I'd say quality may be an issue, hence I'm waiting for feedback.

I've had a set on eBay for a while at $400 with no bites and the other pair on the forum are still for sale too. I thought the OEM ones would have sold relatively quickly.

Same here, if I was you I'd list them on eBay US though. I think you'll get a better price than $400 for them.

as much as I love my zed after 10 years of ownership, i  have to remind myself its still a datsun (albeit an appreciating one ;)  ) There are some on here that have had bucket loads of cash spent on them but my pockets arent that deep. Running OEM parts is not a huge consideration for me as its far from stock and originality went out the window as soon as the previous owner/s tossed the matching numbers motor, painted it bright red and stuck crappy race seats in it adding the 17 inch wheels and a few other things:) it gets driven monthly maybe fortnightly in summer and will never be a show pony. Although I want to return it to period style........have most of the bits and pieces now, I wouldn't consider paying 400+ for original lights that need to be dismantled cleaned polished re glued and still have imperfections and cracks.....but thats just me........ if they fit well, look good/clean and get the job of indicating and braking done... i'm happy. Will try and post a vid when i do the full conversion......that said anyone have the 240z rear bezels lying round?

Cheers!

got home to the package at the door. without having much to compare to they seem to be pretty decent. your right, the seal isnt great....not rubber more a rubberised foam..... without comparing to the 260z seals im assuming the OEM are rubber?

It seems that the replica lights have done nothing to reduce the value of the OEM units.

Interesting...

For some people OEM parts will always be the preference for their restoration, regardless of cost.

I suppose it all comes down to just how "Original" is an Original or Concourse restoration and how much are you willing to spend ?

A friend of mine has just spent a serious (read large) pile of money doing a concourse restoration of a Series I E Type Jag. A large amount of the money went on securing Original parts regardless of cost.

Oh, to have the money  8)
