Retro Z Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 Ive mounted a small mazda 3 rubber antenna on the roof just above the top edge of the hatch like modern cars. Very discreet. Quote
dat240z Posted April 26, 2013 Author Posted April 26, 2013 Yeah that's what I was thinking. Do you have any pictures? I wonder if a wireless antennae system would go? Quote
Moderators Zedman240® Posted April 26, 2013 Moderators Posted April 26, 2013 I found as the car got louder, the stereo was next to useless; had to turn the volume futher up to be able to hear it. Next step was just remove all of it! Plugged up the antenna hole with a floor grommet and enjoy the induction noise. Quote
luvemfast Posted April 27, 2013 Posted April 27, 2013 I don't use the stereo either. Prefer induction too Quote
dat240z Posted April 27, 2013 Author Posted April 27, 2013 Yeah I rarely use it I guess, but if I take the Mrs for a drive, its nice to help baffle out the sound!! Dropping the car off this morning..... Itll be a long two month wait......... Quote
luvemfast Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 Yeah it is good to cover the missus's voice. What's she doing in the Z anyway? Quote
Roberto Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 Yeah that's what I was thinking. Do you have any pictures? I wonder if a wireless antennae system would go? You can listen to the radio without the antenna these days if you get a headunit with bluetooth and use a smart phone with Tune in radio. Quote

Yeah I actually used the internet radio and Pandora which is basically an entire music library on board the whole way. Hes welding the hole up. What's she doing in the Z anyway? Sometimes if shes good I let her come for a ride or drop her to work in it:) Quote
EF Ian Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 How do you find the throttle cable setup from McKinney? Could you post some photos of it please? Trying to sort out my cable setup for the RB. There are a few options and obviously the McKinney cable is one, interested in how well it works and looks, and the length of the cable as I guess its made for LHD setups and might be too long for a RHD RB26 setup. Quote
dat240z Posted December 9, 2013 Author Posted December 9, 2013 I bought but never used the Mckinney cable. I instead transplanted the R33 skline pedal from the half cut and installed into the z. So stock skyline pedal onto RB throttle .... all factory. I think if you go Mckinney way, it is irrelevant as to LHD/RHD. My aim was to keep everything simple and reliable. All from one car, all deisgned to work together instead of a stack of custom gear and trying to get it all working well... Cant beat a factories R&D efforts! If you only bought an engine/box combo, then get to a wrecker and pickup a accel pedal + linkage/cables. Ill also add Mckinney and AZC are expensive yet great gear.... Quote
EF Ian Posted December 11, 2013 Posted December 11, 2013 Thanks I've already got a throttle cable from an R32 GTR so I can use that and see about getting a skyline pedal or Z31 pedal as I hear these also work. How neat I your setup at the bulkhead, just like on an OEM skyline bay I guess? Quote
EF Ian Posted August 13, 2014 Posted August 13, 2014 Hows the car going? I don't suppose by any chance you know the length of the McKinney propshaft? Would be a big help to me, I'll running McKinney mounts and want to build a custom driveshaft but I need it built before I start the swap, because of my job I don't have enough time to fit the engine, measure up, get my GTS-T prop shortened or get a custom one build and fit. So if I can get the correct length I can get it all sorted before I start. Quote
dat240z Posted August 15, 2014 Author Posted August 15, 2014 Cars coming along........slowly.. Its at the painters mate so I cant mesure much atm why dont you buy the Mckinney shaft? and or email them enquiring about its specs? Quote
EF Ian Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 Cars coming along........slowly.. Its at the painters mate so I cant mesure much atm why dont you buy the Mckinney shaft? and or email them enquiring about its specs? They always move slower than we'd like don't they. Because by the time I pay shipping, import tax and duty on their prop it would have been cheaper sort my own to my specs. Also they never reply to any e-mails, even if its to buy something from them. Been trying to buy mounts from them for over a month with no luck and others are having the same problem. Quote
dat240z Posted August 17, 2014 Author Posted August 17, 2014 Tell me about it, have you tried the Dog and bone? Im having the same issue currently for MSA... im after a carbon lip from them Quote
dat240z Posted March 14, 2015 Author Posted March 14, 2015 So finally some solid progress and the Z has some colour. Its still requiring a good buff and polish, but looks a 1000% better than before. Quote
dat240z Posted March 14, 2015 Author Posted March 14, 2015 We used 4 base coats, 4 pearls, and 4 clears... This is the only picture I have in the sun so far, but light variations dramatically change the intensity of the green.... Now the rebuild phase. I have new tailights installed, am getting a carbon front bumper from Otomoto, and all accessories (locks, handles, wipers etc are being prepped for matte black to contrast the green). I also have a carbon rear garnish from MSA to pop on so hopefully it goes smoothly.... Its been 3 1/2 years so far since I started....... Quote
chris240 Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 Looks great. Whos workshop did the spraying ? Quote
oldmates260z Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 Looks great and well matched with the mags.... Quote
dat240z Posted March 14, 2015 Author Posted March 14, 2015 Thanks fellas, chris240 I ended up using a mate who works out of Abels in Queanbeyan. Did it after hours/weekends mates rates, hence why it took so long, but hes done a good job.... the thing looks radioactive in the sun.... Quote
dat240z Posted June 20, 2015 Author Posted June 20, 2015 A few progress pictures from a month or two back. Things done. New windscreen + rubber kit. Install latches/hinges. New taillights (repro but quality), cannot afford the $2000 genuines!!), Carbon tailight trim..... Quote
dat240z Posted June 20, 2015 Author Posted June 20, 2015 Bought a carbron front bar off Ben - Otomoto.... Beautiful piece! Quote
