Moderators Zedman240® Posted December 29, 2012 Moderators Posted December 29, 2012 I've been thinking about it for a little now and I'm starting to think I may not have enough time to finish this rare 260Z. Its a very late (and I mean verrryyy late chassis number 15224; most are 150XX) and comes with quite a few goodies. Included in the sale will be a triple set of 40mm Solex carbs on a rare Sanyo manifold.. I only know of another two in Victoria, not sure in rest of Australia, Koni red shocks already fitted in the front struts, rears still not installed. A set of Trust type headers And some big brakes for the front consisting of Z32 Sumitomo four pot calipers and Ford Mustang discs. 280ZX 15/16 Master Cylinder Is virtually a complete car with original 5 speed, R200 diff is still installed. I'm sure the car is 99.5% there. If there are any parts missing, I will locate for you. Trim is all there including the original seats with center section re-upholstered and carpet. Does not have any wheels but included will be some 225-50 x 16" tyres in real good condition as I was planning on fitting some nice 16x8 wheels later on. Body is in very good condition with no major rust anywhere...just some surface rust where repairs were carried out years ago without any paint to cover them. Dash is uncracked and comes fitted with all its gauges. I wish I had the time to put it all together but I just don't think I can now...will be sad to see it go after I hauled it all the way from Canberra a year ago with the dream of finishing it. I'm in no huge rush to sell so I will not give it away, as time goes I will slowly put it together and then I can ask for heaps more cash! ... and please no scrap type values.... we know what these cars are worth. I'll even offer some help to the purchaser if needed to put it back together. I can be contacted through either PM or O413 243 76O Any other pics, please ask..Thanks Quote

Ledge Posted December 29, 2012 Posted December 29, 2012 HI Is there a difference between the late and early 260's Dimitri?. I am aware of the differences in the 240's but thought all 260 where the same. Cheers Paul Quote
Moderators Zedman240® Posted December 29, 2012 Author Moderators Posted December 29, 2012 The later 260's (2 seater and 2+2) had quite a few differences; door catch, vented bonnet and few other little bits and pieces like speaker loactions. Wiring loom I have seen is different on this one compared to other 260's. Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted December 29, 2012 Administrators Posted December 29, 2012 I've seen interior trim design differences and the gauge face typography looks different also. Quote
NZeder Posted December 29, 2012 Posted December 29, 2012 Having owned just about one of every shell, early 240z, late 240z, early 260z and late 260z there are many differences. Most of these have already been pointed out. There are some pluses to these later/last shell 260z 2 seaters. One is they are stronger with longer and larger chassis rails, stronger rear strut towers...sure this does make them a little heavier but we are only talking around 50kg. Window regulators are the same as the 2+2 so are easier to get over the early 260z 2 seater which is unique and hens teeth. I modified a set of the later window regs to fit my early 260z for this reason. My late 260z is just a few numbers below this one and this one is within the last few 1000's built for rhd export so who ever buys this will get a good car that is much rarer than a 240z simply due to low numbers produced. Good luck with the sale and if I had the $$ I would buy and ship to NZ as personally I prefer the late 260z 2 seaters as they already have all parts you need, larger struts, r200, volt meter etc. Other differences not pointed out are Larger fuel and return lines Different rear floor/spare wheel well and therefore different fuel tank Different door window frames with a seal on the top of the frame Different 1/4 glass front seal They have the stronger TC rod mounts Stronger front cross member Larger radiator and larger radiator support panel Front strut towers are slightly wider apart (around 10mm so 240z strut bars don't fit) Wiper arms are black not chrome Wiper arm cover panel is different as the shape of the top of the firewall is different, I am lead to believe this is due the different shape so bonnet pins can be installed without mods and the bonnets have a pressing that matches this for the holes for the pins. As pointed out loom is different and the fuse box is located in a recess on the right hand side foot well. Accelerator pedal is stronger and does not bend like the earlier items as it has a larger box section under the pedal That is all I can think of for now. Quote
Ledge Posted December 29, 2012 Posted December 29, 2012 Well you learn something new every day. My patina project is 9/77 and rs30 020134. So I'm guessing that's a late one ? Cheers Paul Quote

Cheers Paul yep and that is right up there as the don't come much later than yours as far as build numbers go as I believe the last number as RS30-021384 Quote
Moderators Zedman240® Posted December 30, 2012 Author Moderators Posted December 30, 2012 If anybody has $4k for the car itself and the $5k for the motor, it will be theirs. It's starting to depress me seeing it constantly in this state. When it's complete, you will have one nice 260Z 2 seater with some good bits on it and a fresh new motor with a mild cam and great induction noise! Quote
dat240z Posted December 30, 2012 Posted December 30, 2012 Pics dont do it justice but thats a solid buy and good value.... Quote
lightmaster240z Posted December 30, 2012 Posted December 30, 2012 Were is Sulio when you need him it sound just like his kind of project . Quote
Moderators Zedman240® Posted January 1, 2013 Author Moderators Posted January 1, 2013 Updated the first post.. But now if you want just the car without the motor, its up for grabs. Quote

TembaVJ Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 Very interested, probably wont have enough for the engine, maybe later... I sent email. Thanks Quote
pwnd Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 is the car assembled enough to roll? interested, and trying to figure out how I could get it to Brisbane. Also, what were the repairs you said that were carried out? Any chance of pics? Quote
Moderators Zedman240® Posted January 6, 2013 Author Moderators Posted January 6, 2013 Car is a rolling shell so transport shouldn't be a problem. If you have an email address, I have about 20 pics of underneath and around the car I can send you. Quote
Moderators Zedman240® Posted January 18, 2013 Author Moderators Posted January 18, 2013 Well, I have started the assembly process, so before you know it, I'll have a complete running 260Z to sell soon (at a higher price though ) Quote
adam Posted January 18, 2013 Posted January 18, 2013 I cannot believe this is still available.. Where are all the people after a clean, cheap 2 seater!? Fair enough it's 'in pieces' but you'd probably pull it apart anyway. If I didn't already take up 2 car park places at my parents' place, I would've bought this lol Quote
Ledge Posted January 18, 2013 Posted January 18, 2013 Yeah adam i agree man, With all the wanted posts laterly this car should be long gone. HEY PEOPLE YOU WILL NOT GET A BLOODY 2 SEATER FOR FREE STOP DREAMING, THEY ARE SORT AFTER WHICH MEANS YOU NEED TO PAY FOR IT !!!!! Quote
Moderators Zedman240® Posted January 30, 2013 Author Moderators Posted January 30, 2013 Sold... Deposit taken. Quote
