dat240z Posted March 14, 2014 Posted March 14, 2014 Top shelf mate, looks magic. 9 months, wow! Quote
adam Posted March 14, 2014 Author Posted March 14, 2014 Thanks guys, I'm glad you all like it. Buying the exhaust was a difficult (and expensive!) decision to make but I'm glad I paid a little extra for something I wanted first go instead of doing it twice. Yeah, 9 months still surprises me to be honest. Stripping through 3 or 4 layers of paint, primer and body filler to get the shell to bare metal, doing the rust repairs, prepping it for paint.. it was time consuming and a massive learning experience money can't buy. It really does feel good to finally be able to start her up and take her for a spin but I do miss the journey getting it here in the first place, call me crazy. Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted March 14, 2014 Administrators Posted March 14, 2014 Mate did you do all the body work and paint? If so is it documented in your blog? I'd love to know more about how you did it all. PS: What did you use to clean the engine bay up? Quote
adam Posted March 14, 2014 Author Posted March 14, 2014 Thanks mate! I wish it was half as good as yours. Hey Gav, everything except for the top coat was done by me at home, in the car port and garage I bit the bullet and got the colour coat done by a pro. With the amount of dust in my garage after blocking down the car, there was no other option really and I'm glad I took that route. The engine bay was wiped down with degreaser and then gun wash for the more stubborn stuff. It was a simple sand after that before primer went on Cheers Quote
Moderators Zedman240® Posted March 14, 2014 Moderators Posted March 14, 2014 I'll echo everyones response.... excellent work done. Bet everyone has to stop and look! Quote
Zedsabbath Posted March 18, 2014 Posted March 18, 2014 After a long absence I'm coming back in to say well done Adam, very pleazing to the eye, un-mistakingly "Z" ... and using it as a visual wish list for my 240, when I finally get around to stating on it again Pete Quote
adam Posted March 18, 2014 Author Posted March 18, 2014 Thanks guys, I'm glad you all like it. For those of you who have read my blog would know that I actually planned on going flares, even bought the wheels for it, but I owe it to this car below which changed my mind. http://youtu.be/6EKuXCTq4Hc Cheers Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted March 18, 2014 Administrators Posted March 18, 2014 Yeah I love that car also. Quote
Moderators PB260Z Posted March 18, 2014 Moderators Posted March 18, 2014 Very clean and uncluttered lines, really highlights the Z's natural beauty. Quote
Retro Z Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 Awesome blog. I was reading it for over an hour last night and still havent gotten through it all. Quote
Agno Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 I saw this at Summerdays and Engine Bays a couple of weeks ago and it was looking fantastic as usual Adam! PS Coming to Winton in May? Quote
adam Posted March 19, 2014 Author Posted March 19, 2014 Thanks Alex! I noticed your car too, obviously seen better days with that nasty scar from the wheel falling off still there. I was keeping an eye out for you to say hello, but you were nowhere to be seen.. Unfortunately no track day in May for me. I'm trying to resist the urge to track this girl as much as possible lol I'm not in the position to get hooked at the moment ! Quote
phillay Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 I just finished reading all the post on the blog, what a great motivational read... Quote
