zzzzed Posted November 9, 2013 Author Posted November 9, 2013 I just put 12v straight from the battery to the coil and I there is defiantly a stronger spark. Looks like I need to fit the new loom ASAP. Quote
zzzzed Posted November 9, 2013 Author Posted November 9, 2013 Still runs the same with the stronger spark. Quote
zzzzed Posted November 9, 2013 Author Posted November 9, 2013 Adjusting the valve clearances made it better but still not ideal. I think I will leave it at that untill I can build my l28. I suspect that this motor is just a bit to tired for triples Quote
Scoota G Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 Mick, are you running electronic ignition? Quote
Scoota G Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 No wonder you are having so much trouble tuning them, took me ages to get them even to 70% and then the electronic ignition went on "KAPOW" A Japanese Symphony under the bonnet! Quote
zzzzed Posted November 10, 2013 Author Posted November 10, 2013 Kapow hey? Have you been listening to Jackel by any chance Yeh well I have decided to revert back to the old flat tops untill I can build up my l28. Quote
Scoota G Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 Kapow hey? Have you been listening to Jackel by any chance What's Jackel? Quote
zzzzed Posted November 10, 2013 Author Posted November 10, 2013 It's a band from the 90's they are always on that biker bar show. The singer from Jackel is a big part of the show. He likes to say kapow. Quote
zzzzed Posted November 12, 2013 Author Posted November 12, 2013 So I have fitted the flat tops back up for now first problem. I can't find the original fuel rail so it looks like I will be emptying my shed untill I find it tomorrow after work. I know it's in there some where. I do have one question. Is it necessary to run water through the manifold? Or is it just to help the engine warm up faster? Quote
zzzzed Posted November 14, 2013 Author Posted November 14, 2013 The flat tops are on and running. It sounds so sedate w I pared to the triples. And the power Delivery is very meh!! I want the triples back :'(. I wi have to wait till the new engine is done. Quote
zzzzed Posted February 28, 2014 Author Posted February 28, 2014 Back to the mikuni triple saga. I have since fitted an l28 from a 280zx to my 260 First thing I had to do was refit the oil pump drive because it was no wear near the 11:25 on the distributor shaft I fitted up the mikunis and fired it up. I thought you beauty it's idling and running half decent. But once warmed up its back to backfiring out the carbs and an erratic idol. It either idols to high or not at all With the linkages disconnected and all chokes fully closed, to get carbs close to balanced, number 1 carb idol screw is all the way out, no2 carb idol screw is all the way in and no 3 is Abbott half way. I was wondering now could it be that the manifold is warping once up to temperature. I might try a different manifold to see if it makes a differance Quote
RLY240 Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 Mick, start with the basics and make sure the float levels are all set and there are no pin hole leaks in the floats themselves. You should be able to hear any air leaks through a rubber tube to your ear. Roger Quote
zzzzed Posted March 2, 2014 Author Posted March 2, 2014 I have done every thing except put a restricter in the line. I have tried 3 different sets of gaskets. The carbs ran fine on Roberto's engine. Quote
RLY240 Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 Sorry, that's the extent of my diagnostic skills..... But I agree you need a restrictor in the return line. I also think you should use a fuel delivery block rather than series connect all the carbs but regardless that won't affect the idle issues you are experiencing and plenty of people run in series without issue anyway. Administrators gav240z Posted March 2, 2014 Administrators Posted March 2, 2014 What about your electrical timing? Are you running an electronic or points set up? What condition is it in? Does it just idle poorly or drive badly also? Quote
zzzzed Posted May 19, 2014 Author Posted May 19, 2014 I have my first official event at collingrove hill climbs this weekend in the multi club cup My 240 isn't ready to go yet so I am going to take this old girl for a run. I love this pic Quote
vorn70 Posted May 19, 2014 Posted May 19, 2014 Good luck mate. Let's hope this warm winter lasts for a few more days so you can get some good dry runs in. Quote

theremm Posted October 18, 2015 Posted October 18, 2015 King springs 30mm? What size tyres and wheels are you running? Quote
zzzzed Posted October 18, 2015 Author Posted October 18, 2015 King springs 30mm? What size tyres and wheels are you running? Hey mate the wheels are 15x8 zero offset Tyers are 205 60 15 I did the naughty chop chop on the standard spring until I replace them with coil over when I give it a full rebuild. I cut 1 full coil out of each spring. Quote
theremm Posted October 18, 2015 Posted October 18, 2015 Awesome thanks! Looks really good. I just bought a set of 15 x 8 zero offset and trying to work out tyre sizing. I have stock suspension and will likely just use the king springs to lower a little. Do you get any scrub and have you had to roll guard lips at all? Quote
locklock Posted October 18, 2015 Posted October 18, 2015 Hi, did you change the cam for the triple mikuni or stock l26 cam? Quote
