53-681 Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 Hello everyone, I don't know if I'm going to be flamed at - but would anybody here be willing to swap their 2 seater for my 2+2? I mean, my 2+2 is genuinely a good car and should be better once the head gasket is replaced and maybe some head work too, but I just don't have that satisfactory feeling with it being a 2+2... A midnight blue 240Z is my dream car afterall.... Quote
jamo240 Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 Wow...swap my 240 for a 2+2 with a blown head gasket???.....so I get a repair job, a couple of un-useable rear seats and a lamentable roof line.... Bozo...I appreciate your motivation, and agree with your reasoning for wanting a 2 seater, but I think you may need to re-think the merits of your offer! Perhaps you should just sell your 2+2=5 and buy a 240?? Duck! Incoming!! Jamo Quote
Agno Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 Well would be expecting a similar condition 2 seater or something that reflects the price difference between the two? Would the motor be fixed? I'm not interested in trading but I'm just curious to what you are offering. Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted March 19, 2012 Administrators Posted March 19, 2012 Prepares for flame war.... Quote

Gordo Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 Bozo, if you are fishing , you might need a little more Bait. Some one might be tempted. good luck with that. Quote
nizm0zed Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 Indeed, in order to catch a fair prize while bait fishing, you need to be a good baiter, a master baiter in fact. Are you a master baiter? Quote
53-681 Posted March 20, 2012 Author Posted March 20, 2012 Is your real name Ben Dover? I wonder what my 2+2 would be worth if I sold it... Quote
PZG302 Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 Is your real name Ben Dover? I wonder what my 2+2 would be worth if I sold it... Whatever someone is willing to pay Quote
peter mc Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 heheh i hope you get more than i was offerd for mine , after spending over 50k i was down to 5k trying to sell it Quote
nizm0zed Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 Well, after going back through your build thread (and having a good laugh at the comments in there ) I would realistically say that your car would sell for around the $5-6K mark. However, it looks like you have allready spent more than that on it. That would lead someone normal, so, perhaps your parents, to say "Dont sell it bro, keep the sexy car, even though its a bus" Serious though, its a nice looking car, you have sorted out all the rust issues. now time to slowly work on the mechanical and driveline, then the interior. After that, you'll have a real sweet ride that any of us would love to own. Keep with it! Quote
dat2kman Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 Original post should/could say something like, " Swaps, my 2+2 and some CASH, for your 2seatwr 240/260" Might get a few bites that way? These cars are just getting harder to find, in good cond, and are getting priced accordingly. The cost to put together a front running prodsports, or historic group S prodsports is getting on high side of $60,000, fully set up and sorted, it is easy to ignore costs on a build project, we all do, because if we started to count the $$$, we'd go NoWay!, but we dont, we cherish them, we enjoy them. Just remember, you are a long time dead, so untill then, just go for it, do it, all you are doing is spending your kids inheritance Quote
53-681 Posted March 20, 2012 Author Posted March 20, 2012 Hey Jason, when you say These cars are just getting harder to find, in good cond, and are getting priced accordingly. Which cars are you referring to exactly??? Quote
dat2kman Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 Certainly the early 2 seatwrs, both 240 and 260, even more so the JDM FairladyZ, and it wont be that far away when 2+2 variant will be in this category. Many scoff and call them buses, station wagons etc, a few know that they are a very good handling car due to longer wheelbase, are a bit more versatile. If possible, be patient, nice ones in all model variants do pop up, there are still many out there whose owners have no knowledge forums such as this exist, will put a car up for sale, and they get snapped up quite quickly at reasonable prices. I am aware of some 5 instances in the last 12 months, and the new owners have no intention to be forum jockeys, and are happy with their new "old" purchase, cos they just wanted one! Quote
53-681 Posted March 20, 2012 Author Posted March 20, 2012 I hope I get lucky!!! I wonder how much my one is currently worth as I will need a cash boost in order to purchase one of these "no-forum-knowledge" sellers Z's when the time comes... A midnight blue 2 seater with twin turbo l28 is my dream car. I don't have a wife/gf/kids so it should be quite easy for me to pull a loan aswell I guess.... Quote
PZG302 Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 Sam, Another option if you have access to a daily shitter to run around in would be this.......http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Datsun-1973-240z-Rolling-Shell-260z-280zx-Nissan-240-zed-/150778883896?pt=AU_Cars&hash=item231b1f2f38 Not for the faint hearted but a cheap option to at least get a 2 seater in the garage. Buy a 2 seater shell, transfer your mechanicals, the only thing you would really need to change in your driveline would be tailshaft. The bits and pieces that you would need are avilable and how it costs depends on what you want from the car. If you don't want concourse original, a very tidy interior can be put together for ghetto money without looking ghetto. A long term solution, but one that may not hurt the wallet as much initially. mossy Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 Bozo, personally I would work on getting rid of that big credit card debt first otherwise you may find yourself buying a 2 seater then getting into even more debt. My 2c Quote
