I thought it may be a good idea to start a thread on fuel consumption so that we might all gauge our fuel usage based on an average.

We will keep the posts simple and to a formula.

Hmm, might be difficult to measure - I'm only on my second tank of fuel this year...

Then there's that pesky breather hose that seems to leak 10 litres every time I fill up!

 

Back when I used the car as a daily driver I was getting about 450Km from a tank, about 13.3l/100km.

Country trips were much better, hooning about much worse...

Bog standard series2 280zx auto.

Commuting between Blue Mountains and Western Sydney (Huntingwood). Mostly highway & motorway driving.

 

Engine type: L28

Engine Size: 2.8

Tank size: 80 litres (never used it all)

Kilometers to tank: usually refill about 600km.

L/100km: 10.92 (averaged over last 2942km)

Injector size: whatever's standard.

This is based on highway stuff, put the right foot down and that reduces dramatically!

Standard L28 injectors on 280 turbo log

 

Or, on the dyno, fuel delivery measured at around 2-2.5 l/s to the injectors.

R32 GTR race track uses 100 km 60 lt, loves a drink!!

Updated figures after 4 speed auto (L4N71B) conversion.

 

Kilometers to tank: low level light comes on about 750km.

L/100km: Around 9

This is city Kilometers only. Highway Kilometers have a far better range becuse of my right foot to mechanical noise addiction.
