What parts would you like offered through the club?

Hi everyone,

I have been thinking about what parts people want and have a hard time finding or would like to be readily available through the club.

 

Some items I thought might be of interest to members include:-

 

-Diamond Vinyl Interior Pieces

-Replacement Carpets

-Weather Stripping

- LD28 Crankshafts

- L14 & L20A Rods (probably impossible to get)

- Powder Coated Valve Covers

- Polished Valve Covers

- Repaired Centre Consoles

- Watanabe Wheels

- Reconditioned Engines or Cylinder Heads

- R200 LSD Diffs

- CV Joint Conversion Kits

 

Or anything else you might think you need or would like to be able to purchase through the club rather than have to order from overseas.

 

I know the above looks more like a wishlist but I'm curious what are some common needs for Z people. I may look into striking a deal with some suppliers to get us some discounts at some stage down the track.

How about non specific Z/Datsun items? Everyone needs items like oil, spark plugs, filters, etc. A simple discount from a particular spare parts shop would be handy.

Out of interest, how many members do we have? Maybe team up with Ozdat to help boost numbers would help getting a good deal?

FG is fibreglass

 

I have a crappy mold for the centre console but the big prob I see is there a a few different types so its usually not worth the investment in the molds to make em all.

 

It all comes down to price I rekon as I dont know many weallth Z owners who have the cash to get all the bits you mentioned (unless there really cheap:))

 

I think you would be better of making a list of items and suppliers with prices so people can buy as they want. Its really a labour of love when it comes to selling zed parts as no one wants to pay alot (as rob from zworx always said "it's not a Ferrari") I know from selling parts and fibreglass bit that most people want it for nothing and want it to be perfect condition at the same time.(not to say everyones like that )

 

when I first got into zeds it used to really piss me off when I rang Z shop or zworx for prices and they never had time to talk but now I understand why as there are so many tyre kickers out there. anyway I am ranting and raving again so I better end now

definately interior trims would be top of my list as putting my zed back on the road is comming along, but I have no interior in it at all so that would be helpfull. I did find on ebay somewhere a place that does make and sell 240/260z carpets for about $200 but have yet to recieve a reply from them....

Another thing that would be good would be access to a workshop/hoist where we could do our own work, although insurance might be a problem.

 

Most suppliers would want to see regular sales in quantity in return for a discount, so we'd best be sure we can deliver on our end of the deal. Group buys of selected items might be an avenue to pursue. We all seem to want consoles for example.

 

Tools might be worth considering.

Azman, I've had about 5 sets of both 240 and 260 carpets made by a carpet overlocker here in Melb called Arli Carpets in Airport West on Webb St. They charged me from $50 to $90 per set, just need the originals to give them to go by. The price is always different as they just guestimate every time I go!

I can also obtain a large selection of FG panels - bumpers, spoilers, bonnets & guards etc. for very reasonable prices.

I think Craig is under the impression we were looking to join OZdat. Don't worry our websites will still stay seperate but for the sake of having a larger group to set up deals with we could look at approaching places for offers for both Ozdat and Viczcar members.

Well my idea of answering that question would be to find out from the club members as buyers (Which you are doing) for types of spare parts to ascertain the type of demand items, but these categories could possibly cover it?

 

1. Restoration bits & pieces

2. Engine mods & performance parts

3. Body exterior parts and performance add on's

4. Interior trim parts & reproduction

I also am looking for and original drivers mirror.

I purchased a left hand side from the US 2nd hand in really good nik off Ebay but RHS seem to be very rare or defunct and the reproduction mirror is Chrome rather than SS.

A good idea will be to get rims discounts in my opinion - I am sure everyone likes ROH wheels - might try something there...
