Scando Posted March 25, 2012 Posted March 25, 2012 Thanks very much again for the drive mate, had an absolute ball! Such a fun little car and does everything right. Might have to trade my Z in on one Also got to see big red in person for the first time since the coat of jam. It looks the goods people. Red has always been my favourite colour for Zeds but I think this might be the nicest red I've seen one done in. Quote
bluerat Posted March 26, 2012 Author Posted March 26, 2012 No worries, It was great to see it in action...It's a lot louder outside than inside LOL. It might take some time before the ribbing subsides after getting hosed in my own car!! Bit 'o lock below!! Quote
Riceburner Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 Looks like an angry 510, what sort of mods does it have? Quote
bluerat Posted March 28, 2012 Author Posted March 28, 2012 LOL heaps Gareth!, 22 years of tinkering. L20, downdrafted head (see a couple of pages back), 76 degree cam, Twin 45's, 11:1 comp, SWR extractors. Option 1 box, 4.1 or 4.8 R180, Bilsteins, adjustable front struts, modded arms, Hilux calipers and the best tyres and pads I can buy. 900kg, 150rwhp, rust, dents and plenty of scratch's!! It's won the 2ltr class three years in a row at the Tas Hillclimb Champ, Outright 1st in the 2010 championship and won the 2 ltr class in the local NW series 12 out of the last 14 years and Outright 3 times including last year, and is heaps of fun to drive...never ever won best presented car though, not even close!! LOL Once the Zed is up and running it will get a major birthday and we might put it in the entrance foyer of the ranch on display.... By the way are you happy with your Torsen?? Quote
Riceburner Posted March 29, 2012 Posted March 29, 2012 Sounds like a whole lot of fun. The peddle man must be pretty good too! Quote
Scando Posted March 31, 2012 Posted March 31, 2012 Yep, he drives it very well. And I think he should have a big crack at the Highclere hillclimb under 2L record before he gives it a birthday Quote
bluerat Posted June 3, 2012 Author Posted June 3, 2012 ....Darth Spud is very pleased with his new Ion cannons, He's thinking he can now attack the planet Ro-Tary in the Wankle System with some success... Things are moving along nicely, motor and box are in and should have the diff back next week...Injection Guru's been up and had a measure up, Auto Sparky is coming up today for a 'look', hopefully It doesn't scare him tooo much, lined up my fabrication genius mate to add a few mm to the front arms, and will pop around to Edwin's and pull my race seats out of his rolled Escort... New Rare Spare door rubbers are in, door cards back after a bit of repair work, new bushes and boot for the gear stick, Redline 'Smurf blood' oil for the gearbox, New Bosche fuel pump is here (Thank's Pete). Seal kits for the Volvo calipers are proving an issue...not avalible I've been told by two sources..so an AZcar kit might is on the list. If it all fall's into place hopefully I can get it to the big Historic meet at Baskerville in mid Oct and scare a few chap's in flat hat's.... Hodgo Quote
dat2kman Posted June 3, 2012 Posted June 3, 2012 First sentence above. Read, re read, cracked up! I am on Dark Side too from planet Ro Tary! Nah seriously, i got a message from a Tas Karter? Telling me to haul ass down your eay, with my Scotary Spud Seedan ( historic group U) and do a Tour de Tassy! Hmmm it's now on said bucket list! Quote
bluerat Posted June 3, 2012 Author Posted June 3, 2012 LOL for sure...was it Slim? a feild of Historic Sports Sedans would be great to see at Baskerville...go on do it!! We'll line you up against Scando in the Hulk!! Grab a pan-tech and bring down the 120Y as well. I'll put an entry in for the St Helens Classic Rally.... Also, Thumb's up from last Weekend in the Kobota. Quote
Riceburner Posted June 4, 2012 Posted June 4, 2012 Darth Spud would make a great hood ornament. I'm sure he'd feel at home, it'd be just like hyperdrive only windy Quote
bluerat Posted June 21, 2012 Author Posted June 21, 2012 LOL, a bit like the photo below Gareth, but with more Starch and Carbs...and on a Zed, not a cat. The roof vent might be a good spot to mount the Dark One? Again all ticking along nicely, trying to do a little bit each day. Tell me guy's, I'm cleaning up the front indicators which have a clear lens and and a twin filement bulb, does the indicator flash clear(White) not orange and is this legal? Quote
bluerat Posted August 18, 2012 Author Posted August 18, 2012 Hey guy's. It's right in the middle of rally season down here so I've got a bit excited and posted a few more Zed rally shot's. The yellow car is Phil Smith's 240z from the early 90's, which at the time was a big dollar, best of everything car. It was leading the Tas Championship with one round to go...aganst some very quick 4wd's (Les Walkden was one..) and was sadly wrote of in a road accident. Smithy now live's on the Sunshine coast in Qld and about to drag it all out of the storage container and do a re-build... The white Zed is Jessie Robison, although Victorian, he's often down here Rallying his beloved 1600. The Zed is owned by his Dad and I'd say the photo's are from the Alpine in 2010. Jessie's not afraid to have a crack!! And lastly a couple more of mine in action when Roger was racing it, first one was Targa '98 and the next is the Saxon Safari '97 which was Tassies ARC Round. Quote
bluerat Posted September 3, 2012 Author Posted September 3, 2012 It's a small world fella's!! I popped over to the big Island over the weekend to catch the Muscle Car Masters Meeting in Sydney and, as you do, noticed a very quick blue 1600 giving the big boy's a scare in Nc... Sooo very late Sat arvo, no one about thought hhmmm might have a sticky beak at this thing and with half my body under the back of it I here this booming voice...Oh sheeeet, I better do some quick talking here...turns out it wasn't the owner, phew, and they guy seemed to know what he was on about, he mentioned he worked with Les Collins...hold it a minute, It's not, can't be...yep Pirate Peter Mac, nice to meet ya big fella. Shame you couldn't be about on Sunday for another catch up. When do you want me to send over a L16 block for a going over? This Nc thing looks like fun!! Cheers Hodgo Oh yeah Zed is going along great gun's..but dont want to bore you with..I've bolted this bit on, then this bit, oh and then this bit... Quote
Gordo Posted September 3, 2012 Posted September 3, 2012 Good stuff Hodgo' sound like your having a bit of fun right now. And Peter Mac gets around dosent he. Quote
peter mc Posted September 3, 2012 Posted September 3, 2012 HI hodgo it was good to catch up , under one of our cars lol, the 1600 gets along very well , dam shame it smashed the gearbox on Saturday afternoon and had no parts to fix it as we were on for a win in the class , and yep i get around left work drove 900km with the car, worked to get the car throw Friday prac and Saturday race and then drove home, all night so i could get to work yesterday so we could get the box fixed and out today so we can race it next week , life as a race mechanic pmc Quote
Scando Posted September 4, 2012 Posted September 4, 2012 You can't trust him Pete, I would have confiscated his camera Quote
bluerat Posted January 19, 2013 Author Posted January 19, 2013 Hello everyone...bit on. The Zed has been kicked out of home and been shipped off to 'Uncle Leeroys finishing school for waywood big girls' and the little master is going great guns!! We should see a noise out of the thing in a few week's. He's plumbing in the injection, doing the injection wiring and fixing/shifting basically everything I've done in the past 4 years!! I've sold the M48 and purchased a new M84 Motec, which I'm told is the duck's gut's..My accountant and I are wishing we brought a set of 48mm Webers about now, but they all tell me I'll love the injection when it's done...hhhmmmm dun-no! Anyway a pretty cool aside, young Fletcher Brownrigg, Rogers 9 year old son popped around for his first look at the car he had heard so much about and loved it, we've booked it in for his leavers dinner in 7 years time.. Just waiting on a new pair of brake master cyln, Clutch cyln and handbrake cyln to come from the US and the brakes will be finished, the diff's a problem with the shimming etc proving a tough puzzle to nut out, so we've popped in a R200 3.7 in to get us up and running, Cheers Weldy! As soon as we get it fired and tuned it will be off to panel beater to finish off and fix a few stone chip's. Working very hard t make it to PI for the Nats.... Cheers Hodgo Quote
Gordo Posted January 19, 2013 Posted January 19, 2013 Looking good Hodgo. Hope you can get it all finished by Easter, will be great to see you go around PI. Cheers Gordon. Quote

bluerat Posted January 22, 2013 Author Posted January 22, 2013 LOL For sure....Anyway it's full steam ahead !! My nutsert kit has been getting a flogging over the weekend and Leeroy's talked me into keeping the "Centerally mounted turning device" which should be fun...the pedal box has had a referb and the throttle cable is mounted as well as fuel pumps, surge tank etc. The diff boy's were given a little 'moter'vational speech this arvo as well.. Hey Dimitri, any tip's on where to get some new 3.5mm bolts that hold on the indicator lens? Local nut and bolt shop is stumped? Quote
Moderators Zedman240® Posted January 22, 2013 Moderators Posted January 22, 2013 I may be able to find some... I'll have to find out length though.. Quote
bluerat Posted January 24, 2013 Author Posted January 24, 2013 Ok Pal, looks like there 21.5mm total length, thread length 19mm and the tread is .6 Cheers Quote
bluerat Posted March 26, 2013 Author Posted March 26, 2013 Dragged the old blue battler out for another run on the weekend, a hillclimb at the Barrington rowing course. It's a ripper of a road, 31 corners in 2km. It was mostly 'damp' all day, so plenty of skids. Mick hasn't posted his in car video yet, so I'll pop up mine s a warm up. His will be a ripper!! Yeah I know...that 5th not 3rd...bloody Option 1's!! Oh yeah the Zed....bent rear strut's and a few other small issues have put us behind, but we are still surging ahead, Catch ya Hodgo Quote
