. Posted May 16, 2009 Posted May 16, 2009 well I guess Y is only one letter of Z. But I'd like to shove their Y up their A Quote
Zedback Posted May 16, 2009 Posted May 16, 2009 I've had a few people call mine a 120Y Huh Beside you a z might start to look as small as a 120Y Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted May 16, 2009 Administrators Posted May 16, 2009 I've had a few people call mine a 120Y For the record there is such a thing as a 140z it was quite rare but sold in export markets such as South Africa. It was a 120Y Coupe with different tail lights and front end treatment. Quote
nizm0zed Posted May 16, 2009 Posted May 16, 2009 i help to propogate the problem, and call mine a tokyo ferarri. and fyi, if she's cute (and i think i have a chance in hell) then yes, it is a porsche Quote

Ditto A 160z was also produced in limited numbers for the SA market with a larger engine and further cosmetic enhancements Quote
Scoota G Posted May 16, 2009 Posted May 16, 2009 Hey is the young fella who's fitting the XR6 Turbo going to make a 40oz (Forty Ounce) Quote
BenZed Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 They had one like that in Japan called a Sunny Excellent Quote
sydney mike Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 Going a bit off topic here but those 140/160 J, Z's also used L series (L14) motors with twin Su's. When I first heard of them I thought they would just have A14 OHV motors. Local Aussie 120Y's only have the A12. We never get the good stuff here when Datsuns are concerned Quote
Mr Camouflage Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 I see that the thread on classiczcars.com that inspired this one has completely vanished after a couple of members started going at it. Pity they wipe the entire thread, instead of just deleting the couple of posts. When you spot a Porsche 911, you should say "Hey, nice Datsun". That should wind up a few Porsche oweners If I see one when I'm out driving I say "Blackbird". Quote
zzzzed Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 just today i had some one ask "is that a 928s" :-\ Quote
Scando Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 just today i had some one ask "is that a 928s" :-\ That's disappointing! They could at least mistake it for a decent Porsche Quote
. Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 wow. Thats weird. 928s. Such a specific model yet they obviously don't know what one is. Ah its all good. You know we really should take a poll. Then when we run into porsche owners we can tell them how many people think our cars are porsches. This is a true story. My wife's step dad owned a porsche. He was on a country drive when it broke down. He had to leave it there for a few days to be fixed. It was about 90 minutes away. When it was ready he sent my wife's mother to pick it up. Once she had paid for it she phoned him to let him know she was leaving. Then he was surprised when she arived 20 minutes later. He exclaimed "How fast were you driving?!!". She responded just 60mph. In disbelief he asked her to show him on the gauge. She pointed at the tacho She had driven a porsche at 6000 rpm in 5th for 20 minutes. You do the math. Quote
. Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 just had a thought. Now that I can make cheap Datsun badges. I might keep a few in the car. When ever I see a porsche I'll just pop a badge on the back. That should confuse people even more Quote

Thomo260 Posted May 22, 2009 Posted May 22, 2009 That reminds me of my blonde sister inlaw claiming that my brothers Datsun 120y (that he used to get to work and back) was dangerous after driving it for the first time. She "couldn't get it over 80" not knowing what MPH means she was trying her hardest to get to 100 Quote
Dingo Posted May 24, 2009 Posted May 24, 2009 When my 260z was parked out the front of my house with a bloodied up nose someone asked how someone could crash a ferrari daytona. then asked how much it cost me to buy. then again the same guy came down the drive way and and asked about my datsun ute. even though he was looking at the back of the 1000 ute with mazda writen in black on yellow right the way across the tailgate.
