  1. Car is SOLD - plans for it are to be restored and is remaining in Victoria. Thanks for the interest. Cheers also for this great forum and community, I've been helped out so many times and I hope to back on here a good few years from now looking for an S30 to invest in. Dave
  2. yeah seems like a couple of people have the magazine. Someone give me an offer and take the car off my hands. I don't want to let it go for way less than it's worth but I'm going overseas, and would rather sell than store at my parents for months and months.
  3. couple of people interested here in melb for keeping it in one piece, don't think it'll be parted out but it's still for sale and could help arrange to get it interstate if you were to buy the whole thing. Yeah cheers Huw; The cars in pretty good nic, that's why i'd love to see someone chuck a new ecu in and polish her up a bit (which sounds like the plans of the parties currently showing interest in it)
  4. Car currently doesn't go, was broken into and ECU stolen! Going overseas soon and parents selling house so needs to go. Engine has had a lot of work done to it and featured in a magazine which I have. Car has a lot of goodies to put into an S30, or with a new ECU and a tune you could keep it as is. I don't really want to part it out, don't have the time... i'd rather sell as a whole. The engine is an L28 restroked to 83mm making it 3060cc done with an LD28 crank. Has been overbored to 88.5mm, connecting rods lightened, polished and balanced, and are fitted with high compression Tomoe pistons, which together with work on the head result in compression of 10.5:1. Some work has been done to both the cylinder head and the overhead camshaft. The cam has been reground to scuderia motorsport specs by Brian Samson's Motor Improvements organisation. The main timing sprocket is a Nismo part also. Through Nismo modified double valve springs the cam operates 46.5mm competition inlet valves and 36.5mm exhaust valves. These seal on Stellite seats. The porting has been altered considerably, as has the combustion chamber shape. Also has a Nismo competition head gasket. This was all done in 1988 by Scuderia Motor Sports and the car has done about 62,000 k's since then. I don't think the fuel system is stock either but i think that may have been altered or something before i got the car. I know a bit about engines but not stacks so some of that is quoted from a magazine article from 1988 which the car featured in. I had it tuned about a year ago but couldn't get a max rear wheel kw due to my stupid wheel spacers getting the wobbles but they pushed it hard enough to get 112rwkw with it still pulling they reckoned it would have got up at 120-130 rear wheel KW if i remember correct... This was running on the stupid Wolf 2d Ecu that was in the car... i think the engine might be capable of more than this, not sure, the ecu was never set up as well as i think it could have been. With the said the engine runs brilliantly, sounds incredibly amazing hearing it sing as you take it up in the revvs. The Diff is a nismo LSD. Works well. unsure of ratio's etc, does about 100k's at 2300rpm if i remember correct (stock box as far as i know) Gearbox - stock 5sp manual flywheel - can't remember weight but i weighed it when the clutch was done and it was the lowest it could go. 13 pounds comes to mind...? Clutch - heavy duty exceedy... done around 5000 k's steering wheel and shifter nob are oldschool leather nismo. I'm tempted to keep them for when i one day get an S30 but i could use the cash so they're included in sale. Exhaust - 3" (i think... it's at least 2.5 anyway). Got new hotdogs and muffler about 3 years ago. Sounds really quite incredible with the highly modified engine running through it. no need for a sound system, put the windows down and hear it sing! I wish i could drive it one more time just to hear it. K&n pod filter custom made rear bumper, also non stock front but that's seen better days! 17" rims with good tread nismo sports suspension (sitting at about stock height maybe a tad lower) had shock test done, they could do with replacement but mechanic said they would pass a roadworthy has (i think) oldschool ford mirrors which look mint... got a light brushed side swiped 3 days after broken into and smashed one off though For a 31 year old car is in pretty good nick... you can see a bit of rust in a couple small spots but good luck not finding any on a zed. Best to come and inspect to see for yourself. Other things - has done about 62000 k's (i'm guessing since 1988 when it was done up). I've done about 14000 in the 3-4 years i've had it. Has as uncracked dash. interior pretty tidy. Comes with brand new pads (in box uninstalled). that's about all i can think of, ask me questions, hopefully i can answer! Price $4700. Perhaps optimistic seeing as it doesn't run with a missing ecu but it has some very nice parts in it worth that easily. I know it's not very appealing buying a car that doesn't go so any inspection welcome. PM me or reply to post or get me on 0418 358 198. Car is located in eastern suburbs of Melbourne.
  5. Alright, i need to get rid of this car, any offers on the engine? If i find a buyer for that then other parts will be available for sale also.
  6. not sure, i don't really know what it's worth, i know car guys spend big bucks on engines and it would cost a bit to build something similar but don't wanna sell it unless i can accumlatively get the same or more for the parts then i could the car as a whole. yeah it is rather annoying to say the least. I just had that thought today of chucking carbies on it, but i can't imagine that would be all that cheap? what sort of price and how hard would it be to do that?
  7. Not sure if this should be in the for sale section but i've posted it here coz i'm after a little advice. So i own an '80 280zx with a good few mods, however it was broken into 2-3 months back and the non-stock wolf ECU was stolen hence the thing doesn't go. I wanted to sell the car but obviously now don't want to spend hundred and hundreds and hundreds replacing and retuning a new ecu before selling... I am considering parting the car out but unsure how much i would get for engine/diff etc. With the said the engine runs brilliantly, sounds incredibly amazing hearing it sing as you take it up in the revvs. (i should also add it has an excedy heavy duty clutch on a lightened flywheel with a stock 5spd box) The Diff is a nismo LSD. Works well. What sort of price do you guys think I could realistically get for the engine and for the diff? Thanks for your help.
  8. just read another post of yours, looks like efi and ecu was what you bought it for, no worries, i'll keep lookin.
  9. What year is it? I need a new ECU for my 280zx, it had an aftermarket one but was stolen... i'm hoping i can install a stock one and it'll work. cheers, dave.
  10. Yeah my next zed purchase will definitely be an s30 but nevertheless i'm still enjoying the ownership of an s130
  11. That seemless welded rear looks really good. Definitely the way to go if you're respraying the car anyway. I finally finished my new rear bumper. More or less happy with it apart from the crappy paint matching job! It's a foam mold i made and then glassed with 3 bolts mounting it across the back and the side little bits liquid nails'd. Ended up using a bit more bog then i would have liked but o well. I had to angle grind off a little bit of the rear panel which stuck out too far, otherwise not too much modification to the car was necessary once the stock bumper was removed. It seems my car is pretty much the red 2+2 version of that black one, both have shaved rear bumpers and same front air dam. I do have a little bit of two seater envy however...
  12. yeah i noticed there was no steering coupler. I'm just second guessing whether the kit has the main bushing im actually after... I just remembered that my hayes is back to front because its for left hand drive 280zx's... so the bushing im after is for the idler arm, not gear/pitman arm. Also bit silly me asking for advice from zed owners who would have rack and pinion steering systems not recirculating ball like the 280zx. Anyway, i'll email him and ask.
  13. yeah i anticipate their will be hours of frustration involved, but i'll at least be learning in the process. He can post for 53US so thats about 210AUD landed, sounds like a good option provided it does have all the main bushings i'd wanna be changing...?
  14. sweet, he reckons he might be able to do it for less postage anyway. If i get stuck installing them i'll just ring lube mobile or something! But that kit looks like everything i'd need? this is a larger image of it: http://www.auctiva.com/hostedimages/showimage.aspx?gid=987292&image=201040226&images=201040226&formats=0&format=0 cheers for the help.
  15. nah it's not that one, it's underneath. This is an exploded diagram of it. (number 14). http://nissan4u.com/parts/280zx/us_s130/1979_1/type_17/axle_suspension_and_steering/steering_wheel_steering_linkage_steering_column_shell_cover_and_steering_transfer_gear/illustration_5/ I guess i'll just buy a complete set and do the others anyway. Not really sure a) what i need in the set and b) what a good or bad price is. found this on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220329422791&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT postage is about 75US ontop of that.
  16. so i worked out that arm is also called a pitman arm. Read a few posts regarding best places to purchase complete bushing sets, I only wanna do the steering linkage for now as i'll probably put new springs in in the near future and i'll play round with those bushings then. But is it possible to buy bush kits just for the steering linkage. Also how hard is replacement of bushings? Do the kits tell you where each one goes!? I don't really feel like completing a which-shape-fits-in-which-hole puzzle. ta
  17. Hello hello, couldn't find the info i was after by searching. Finished my last exam today and driving home (car is a 280zx) noticed my steering clunked, turns out the the gear arm (as my hayes referes to it as) is loose, i think it's just a bushing that's needed. (Where it attaches to the side of engine bay not cross rod end.) My question: is there a more common name this arm is referred to as? can't really seem to find anything about gear arms on auszcar or any bush kits. Seeing as the remainder of the bush crumbled in my fingers when i unbolted the arm it might be best to do other bushings too i guess! cheers.
  18. Yep i had MG just a few days ago, and ferrari once.
  19. Yeah full welded with no seams will look sick. not all that practical in my circumstance however. Sounds like a good trade in theory but just because i more or less know how to fiberglass doesn't mean im any good at it. I'll be putting more effort into this job than other glassing jobs ive done though. Lot's of prep work and sanding and patience should make it look alright. You can come round when i get to that stage and i'll show you if you're interested though. Also one thing i noticed is you're keeping a tow point. I considered this but have sort of decided it would look too ugly and they'd probably be able to tie something around my diff and tow me or use my front one if needed. What are your thoughts on this? Righto, i'm over near Balwyn/Boxhill area, and yeah i guess you could say im pretty darn fantastically stunning, i did just do a homeless awareness photo shoot for a mates uni project.
  20. Hey Simon, lookin pretty nice! Funny i just stumbled across this thread, i've just spent the last couple of weeks doing the exact same thing to my S130! Except I'm not planning on respraying the car and dad hasn't taught me how to weld yet so am actually making a panel that will bolt in where yours is welded. Today I pretty much finished the foam mold and means of attatching using bolts and pop rivetts (incase i need to take off one day). Then need to glass it and paint. We'll have to compare once we're both done, headin into exams soon so might put mine on hold a bit. HAHA!!! MATE, just looking at your thread on your front air dam... are you the same person as me!! thats the same front I have as well! AND im about to start brewing beer... except you win coz you've gotyourself a bloody 2 seater, theres a bloke at swinburne (Russ his name is i think; copper coloured 280) who has that nose as well. Where abouts in Melbourne are you? Dave.
  21. oh nice. I have no idea how much hacking and changing I would need to do to get it to fit my 280 front end, they look like pretty similar mounts though. Just realised Langwarrin is pretty far down south, I might try and borrow an s30 front spoiler from one of the guys closer and if it looks like it might fit alright then I'll think about purchasing yours. cheers,
  22. I'm guessing this isn't still for sale?? I'm chasing something like this to modify and fit to my series 1 280zx. i've got an aftermarket front on it at the moment but have never been fully happy with it's bulky design. Can anyone point me in the right direction? cheers.
  23. i have that front end on my zed.. theres another bloke on here (ross i think) who has it as well. mine needs a bit of glassing repairs... hit too many driveways and possums.
  24. probably the funniest youtube rap ive ever seen. WARNING: Do NOT watch this if you are easily offended, its fairly absurd and crude but is just a joke hence hilarious. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N1Xn4_oQejs
  25. thats a nice looking rear end of the mat black 280, not sure about the front end, i like that its toned down and not the regular bulky thing, but it looks a little... boring and nothingness almost.
