  1. Cheers ben, been lookin at a few clutch kits on the net and half which say they are for an '80 280zx are 225mm and half are 240mm... This is rather confusing. is Ben correct; am i after a 240mm? sankyou
  2. lurch you've got me addicted to last FM. its such a good site, i just typed in 'justice' and it ripping through the french electro. I'll try it later with some aussie hard rock. Hopefully it doesn't suck up my bandwidth allowance too much!
  3. rang a couple of places and prices seem to vary by about 60 bucks between the 225mm and the 240mm... is there some way of checking which size i need? 1980 series 1 280zx i think the car may have been converted to manual many years ago so not sure exactly whats in there.
  4. sweet, thanks for thanks for the reply's. Hopefully it will hold up alright on the dyno on friday. Do Bursons sell exedy clutches at reasonable prices? A mate was telling me he could get me a trade discount there.
  5. Just rang the tuners to cancel my friday booking and he reckons it was just stuck engaged from overheating and should be right. anyone reckon this sounds about right? cheers.
  6. well i drove it for about 15k's today and went fine, but i noticed when letting the clutch out from stand stills the car will shudder/vibrate a tiny bit. does this imply something is warped perhaps? I guess whatevers wrong i'll be replacing whats in there with a new clutch kit anyway. Just annoying coz it's booked in at the tuners for this friday...
  7. hi all. last Wednesday night my clutch i think slipped majorly doing a bit of a burn out seeing as the car was moving off very slowly after revving out first and then popping it in 2nd and not much smoke out the back. the clutch and gearbox felt a little bit funny on the remaining 300 meter drive home and then when i went out to drive to uni the next morning the clutch wouldn't disengage. I thought, dam i've blown it, took my dads car to uni and then later that day went to start the car again and to try and confirm it was the clutch before i started trying to pull it to pieces. only this time the clutch disengaged fine and i could reverse the car up the driveway and went into all gears fine. i put some strain on the clutch accelerating fast up and down the driveway and dropping it straight out stalling the car but it still engaged and disengaged perfectly fine. I don't trust it at all to just forget about it and keep using it as my daily driver, does anyone have any theories on what might have been or what might be wrong? Might sound stupid but whenever i accidentally grind the crap out a of a gear doing something stupid and the gearbox doesn't feel 100%, i'll come out the next day and the car seems to have healed itself, haha. I should also add that the clutch pedal felt normal both times, possibly a little bit softer when it wasn't disengaging, though maybe i was imagining that. cheers, dave.
  8. yeah this was fairly unrealistic but good fun none the less. You could feel the bumps on the road through the steering wheel, i'd like to play one of the arcades with a clutch too. I wonder if they'll bring out a version on the super nes. that i would buy, but mariokart does the job for now.
  9. I played a game called Midnight maximum tune in an arcade in Hong Kong where you can drive an s30 and modify it. I've got a little card you put in the machine every time you go with all your saved details. I only really played it enough to get some wheels and a carbon bonnet put on though.
  10. no evan, you can't have my engine. It also goes nicely in my 280. hehe. Maybe if i still have this zed when i get round to purchasing an s30 ill swap it over and chuck a stock l28 in my 280 before selling. yeah thanks for the offer, i might give you a buzz sometime and cruise over to yours, we've gotta go for a spin sometime too. must have been over a year ago we were stuffing round with my stupid wheel/spacer issues!
  11. Well if it can be made to fit on a car that isn't even a datsun, I rekon i'll give it a go, i'll just whip my one off and line up a 240's spoiler to see what would need to be done to make it stay there. So does anyone have one lying round i could borrow and then potentially buy?
  12. looks pretty tidy, a bit 300zx sorta style. I personally like the 'non smoothed' part in front of my bonnet, its the bulkyness and crap attaching to the fenders i dislike. And once i smooth the back its gonna look a bit out of proportion with the rest of car a little i think. That orange 280 is pretty sick, i saw that a few days ago on hybridz, don't mind it's front end too much. I was looking at a few wheels today on the net too, but i'm not wanting to spend bucket loads on this 280zx coz my ultimate goal is to own, put money into and modify a 2 seater s30 when i can afford it, have space, and its not gonna be my daily driver. But i could improve on the wheels i have, some wider ones on the rear, theres still heaps of space under the stock flares, bit of dish on them wouldn't hurt either.
  13. Why 280zx's always have big hunk of chunks of glass as their front air dam, I don't know, but I either wanna tone mine down or get rid of it. I much prefer the look of the sort of smaller and more subtle S30 fronts out there. I can't imagine the width of the 2 cars being very far off each other? but the mounting positions could be another issue. One I like is the one on Evan's 260z for example... and the other one is a bit similar but with a bigger lip and without the chrome bumper (which i obviously won't have on my 280). Is there a chance it would fit on my zed without too many modifications? And if so has anyone got one for sale which I can try on and buy if i likey.
  14. that cleaned up real nice and neat, i'm gonna get a mate to grab some of this blue sculpting foam from his uni to create the bit i want glassed and then use it as a mold. I'll post some pics if/when i get round to it. I'm also playing with ideas for a better shaped and higher front end, (maybe modify the one i've got with glass) for when I put some lowered springs in, but i don't think ive ever seen a 280's front end that doesn't look trashy to some degree.
  15. Hi, don't want to take this off topic too much but thought i'd post in here rather then starting a new thread. I'm an S130 driver and as you know theres a few ugly things about them but i'm wanting to fix one of them, the rear bumper. I'm looking at completely removing it and glassing in a custom panel to smooth the back and give the car a sleeker/uninterrupted flow. I'm just concerned with Victorian road rules when it comes to having bumpers and an accesible tow point. Are they both required or just recommended? cheers.
  16. yeah thatd be great if you could PM through his number, i'm pretty busy at work for the next week but i'll get onto him soon. cheers.
  17. I still haven't got round to fixing my radiator, leaks everywhere... was quoted 350-450 to have it reconditioned if i take it out and give it to them to do. this was at Mideast Radiators in Mitcham. Cheaper to chuck a new one in i would have thought... PM or reply to post if you can help me out, i'm located in eastern suburbs or melbourne. thanks. Dave.
  18. i need a new radiator for my 280, postage would be a bit though and i can get one on ebay in melbourne for a hundred bucks. If it's in decentish nick i'll offer $40 for the radiator, any east melbourners wanna combine postage? oh and I also need an aerial, the dam electrician caught it on his t-shirt and bent it. i've heard they're a biatch to remove though.
  19. are they based in melbourne??? we could all go pay them a visit.
  20. I love it evan! looks real sexy. I would definately keep the green, goes well with the black.
  21. pahaha..... i have a few... it looks like a train.
  22. haha well my current backgrounds not even a car! has an engine though... im saving up for it, either this '96 yamaha TT350 or maybe a suzuki DR250. i love the look of the TT more though i think. my old one was the wallypower118. 17,000HP from 3 gas turbine engines and a $25million USD price tag i think it is. its the one in the movie 'the island' with scarlet yo-hansen (i can spell)
  23. hurray!! lookin shmik... yeah post a better photo
  24. his english sounds like he's from asia not the states... At least you didn't lose money though!
