  1. Cup holders!!! you've got my interest. definately one thing the zed lacks.
  2. http://www.ndsoc.com.au/mambo/content/view/87/2/ In South Yarra apparantly.
  3. that is quite funny, i was gonna say i love the mushroom bit but the whole thing is awesome. and yeah there is no random crap section, i guess theres the general discussions though.
  4. well my ZX has one, but on the right hand side, but i think my engine bay was slightly re-arranged because according to my haynes manual the windscreen wiper pumps and battery n stuff are supposed to be on the right but they are on the left.
  5. as long as you dont make the driver an emo, his hair is getting a bit emo-ish. but otherwise nice sketch!
  6. Might head along for the morning to take a look. Anyone gonna be competing? or just show only?
  7. NZeder had a 2 seater 280 i think i remember him telling me. i do love the shape of a 2 seater zed and if i ever got another one i think itd be a 2 seater, but seeing as im 19 and its my daily, it just makes an inpracticle car like the zed that much more practicle by being able to carry 3 times as many passengers if i really had to.
  8. yeah they look good, i like the 'black being the white bits and the white being the clear', that looks good on a car window. I think i like the first design best, mostly becuase of its shape, fits up the top of the rear windscreen nicely. but i do agree with evan in having a side on profile view might look good, so you can see the long bonnett and other distinguished features. i have no design skills... i could do one in MS paint, but thats as far as my skills go.
  9. dam spammy crap... didnt ever see this thread, were there ever any viczcar stickers made up? wouldn't mind one for my rear window...
  10. Just re-reading part of your post brycey, from memory mine still did it when sitting in neutral and wasn't varied under different loads, that didn't seem to change it, so sounds a bit different to what i had, but the "violdent rev limiting" sounds very similar.
  11. Brycey, After my Wolf 2D went spacco and the fuel maps etc went all over the place i fiddled with it enough to make the car driveable to get to the tuners so they could sort it out. and i remember it did the same thing; it was right on either 2k or 3k revs, i think it was 3k. i thought i had set the rev limiter wrong but that was up at 7k. the symptons sound the same though, it would kinda cut and then rev up and cut out and rev up and to get past 3k revs youd have to hammer it and try to just sorta push through that range till it gets better. The guys at the tuners were a bit confused by it as well, but eventually managed to get rid of whatever was doing it by, i think, just keeping fiddeling with the ECU control thingy. they did end up replacing by spark plugs (just incase) and then found out my ignition coil was defective because at idle it was only firing on 2 cylinders. (Remeber when i came to buy the car in Newcastle and when it was cold it would nearly stall then pick back up again, well thats fixed.) So anyway i dont think the ignition coil was what was wrong there with the cutting out at 3k, but woudln't be suprised if it was some sort of ECU problem... although yours is stock is it not?
  12. alright everybody go ahead and laugh. i knew i should have checked the name of what i was talking about before posting. by pushrod i meant adjusting rod.... that would be quite hard to drive a car without the pushrod. heres a diagram out of the haynes of apprantly what my clutch setup should look like... its just missing 2 springs (i found the bigger one snapped) and the ADJUSTING rod.. hehe. is there any reason it might have been removed. also as i said in my other post when the clutch is engaged and the pedal is fully out it hits a stopper/switch which isn't in the diagram. its located just above where the ajusting rod should connect and can be seen in the photo i took, kinda hard to make it out though. hope that makes a bit more sense!
  13. ok well this ones not much better, but theres a hole where the push rod should attatch on the pedal, just below that 'stopper' thing. (cant see it in photo)
  14. yeah i took one on my phone when i was out there this morning but its extremely terrible so i wont even bother posting it... ill take another proper one soon.
  15. well after putting up with my heavy clutch and having a look at how the clutch pedal works in my haynes manual id thought id take a closer look at mine to see if i could ajust the push rod etc and give it a bit of a service. - first of all i dont think the clutch could entirely dis-engage as it bottomed out on the floor and the height from carpet to pedal was 30mm less then is supposed to be. - secondly when i opened up the plastic stuff where your shins are to access the clutch i found the spring thats supposed to assist in dis-engaging the clutch sitting there snapped. - thirdly, i couldn't see where the push rod was.. and thats because it doens't have one. - and lastly, it doesn't have that other little spring that connects to that triangular plastic thing. and is that plastic triangle supposed to pivot where it is bolted on? otherwise i dont see the purpose of that smaller spring. so everything seems a bit odd but feasible that its a bit off and springs may have snapped... but the pushrod is not even in there!, like as though someone has decided its not needed and threw it away. any suggestions?[/i]
  16. ok, east hawthorn one would be near uni so maybe there. theres a few things im concerned about like: - the rear wiper blade needs to be replaced i think - my speedo still doesn't work, but they dont drive it do they? (i plan to get that fixed at some stage but will have GPS which will give me speed for now) - bit of rust below the doors on that rail right at the bottom. - windscreen water sprayers i need to fix. a mate of mine got a dodgy RW on his bmw, im tempted to do the same, the car is safe (so far as i know), tyres are 4k old etc.
  17. Bruce, where abouts did you get the road worthy done? ill probably be going for mine tomorrow, or at least booking one in. But dont want to go to some tightarse mechanic whos gonna fail me on the stupidest of things. the cars safe and so forth, it was registered in NSW just 2 months ago but thats run out now. or can anyone recommend a good place. I am in mont albert, just between box hill and balwyn. thanks.
  18. ok heres where im at. put the new speedo pinion gear in... managed to undo the gearbox filler plug and topped up the gearbox then went for a drive to see that the speedo still doesn't work. ARGFHGHHGHGHGHG. so annoying. even with the new speedo gear it would still just spin freely in its sheeth, ive asked this a couple of times, but would that mean more severe problems in the gearbox where the speedo gear connects to the drive train? what i mgiht try is going for a drive with my arm in the dash feeling if the cable is spinning up at the dash end of the car, and get someone to do the gears.
  19. With my 280zx it wont turn over if you push the key too far. theres a point just before the full turn, took a bit of getting used to, sounds like yours is a bit different to that though. dont know about fixing etc, but would be a relatively simple system. except those ignition thingies are as solid as.... well metal.
  20. well i finally picked up my white 19 toothed speedo pinion gear today but am having a couple of problems installing it. firstly i cannot open the gearbox refiller plug on the side, it is as tight as tight can be. ive tried getting under there with both hands pullling and pulling as hard as i can with a spanner putting all my 105kg of body weight into it. is it a reverse thread or something? and also i slotted the new gear into its sheeth and plopped it into the speedo hole and then tried turning the pinion and it turned freely. is this normal? i would have thought it could only turn if the drive train was turning. It did this with the broken one, and i thought it did do it because it was the broken teeth on the pinion, i just hope it isn't something else, otherwise.... buggerrrr. thanks guys.
  21. yeah well it was done by scuderia motorsport, so at a guess they probably knew what they were doing.
  22. Do you mean you want to convert a RHD to LHD? or why would you want to convert to RHD if you were in the US, why not buy an already LHD one there and convert it if you're doing it for the fun of it. man i had to read through that sentence like 5 times to make sure i hadn't mixed up LHD with RHD.
  23. oh ok makes sense, except i thought the speedo connects into the rear of the gearbox, so if the gearbox was swapped with a manual one, all the speedo conenctions would have changed as well. (ie it would have the 5sp speedo gear) ill give nissan a buzz tomorrow and see if i can just swap it over for a white 19 toothed one because if i was going to correct the wheel size difference then i would need a cog with more teeth anyway so it spins the cable slower. I think the white one like i had should do the job good though coz i drove it home from from newcastle on the hume and didn't get any speeding fines even though my speedo said i was sitting on 110km/h. so it cant be too out. And yeah i remember reading that page on the speedo gears a while ago and couldn't remember where i saw it. thanks for the help.
  24. a few things i need to figure out regarding speedo gears. - i have a 1980 ZX which was auto - it was changed to manual in 1988 with a 5 speed geabox (not sure what yr gearbox is) - i pulled the speedo pinion gear out of it and its a white 19 tooth one. - i orderd a new speedo gear from nissan and after telling them it was from a 5 speed 280zx they got it in and its a blue 18 tooth gear. so basically i dont know if they're idiots because maybe the blue gear is for a 4 speed or something or whether the 5 speed has both types depending on year, which they didn't ask me for, hence i was under the impression that there was only 1 type of speedo gear for the 5 speed. The other thing which screws it up even more is that i have bigger wheels which were put on about 18 months ago so that would make the speedo reading even more inaccurate as well. i hope this makes sense and someone can assist me. i think i am able to return and get credit as i havent opened yet, except that they had to order it in from some other nissan parts place. cheers.
