I was wondering if anyone had tips for how to remove old foam and the sticky residue left behind - particuly that inside the door between the skin and side intrusion bar.

Thanks, Evan

Not sure how it'd go with stuff on the inside of doors but a lot of the sticky residue stuff on my floor was removed using dry ice and a chisel - could just get a small quantity of dry ice from party supply places

pity about those dodo birds, but is cabage leaves a serious answer sulio?  :-\

thanks for the suggestions, i'd previously given most of them a shot - the main issue is the intrusion bar is nearly hard up against the door skin, and then there's hardly any holes to get your hands inside the door to do the job blindly. ended up getting most of it out with a screw driver but i'm not 100% its all off - i might drench it in either eucalyptus oil or a wax and grease remover

ensure cabbage leaves are stuffed with rice & oregano, give to Mediteranean grandma and have her steam them for 10 mins, serve with a nice Merlot.

not sure y u want this off as its been put there for a reason. unless u want to replace it with urathane and u just want to clean it.

cabage leaves  LOL  ::) Sulio

do what Craig suggested that the pretty much only way. hard work and u prob wont get rid of it all unless start using some super duper acids. dont ask which one.  :P

but u probably want to re do it with urethane otherwise ur doors will rattle and vibrate.

yeah just cleaning them and putting down new paint (rust bullet) as can see a bit of surface rust happening in places on the inside where the foam was.

i'm gonna replace it with some closed cell foam i have, i'm not sure how much the old would have really been doing anyway in the state it was in!

As RB 260Z said not sure why you want to do this. For one it is inside the door and no one is going to check. But the bar is meant to be  stuck to the door skin so just reapply some sort of flexible sealer and make that look neat and tidy.

I just wanted to confirm that this actually works, after prepping up the materials required, any trace of foam and residue on the car simply vanished. Thank you!
